What was it about this City Slicker doctor that made him want to forget everything but those whiskey brown eyes and that honey blonde hair spilled against his naked chest. Can Damon put the past behind him and choose to love again?

About the Author: There hasn’t been a time in her life that Kamy hasn’t been writing, or dreaming up some magical love story in her head. As an avid reader, it wasn’t long before she realised her talent for turning a phrase, and add to that a profession of nursing, it’s only natural that her stories have a medical theme with that happily ever after ending.
Recently she’s discovered that all those years she’s been fascinated with TV shows like CSI and Bones, has just been foreplay for her dark side and she now enjoys writing suspense with a dash of medical and a dollop of romance.
Originally from South Africa, Kamy now lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her very own hero and two children who keep her busy. She has two dogs who keep her out of trouble and shelves overflowing with books that she loves reading when she isn’t chasing deadlines.

Author's Top 10 *Writing Romance*

It's like having sex- you're not going to enjoy it unless you're in the mood and your reader can tell.
1. Don't write a romance novel after a bad break up. Your book will be cynical and dark.
2. Don't write a sex scene unless your characters want to have sex and are in the mood- that means- YOU have to be in the mood.
3. Put emotion on every page. Readers want to get lost in your book, give them that reason.
4. Don't be scared to sound like yourself. Publishers are looking for a fresh voice so don't try and sound like Nora Roberts or Debbie Macomber, be yourself. Be the next you.
5. Strong conflict. Nothing that can be solved by a frank talk or some honesty. Conflict is not a misunderstanding or an argument. It's a lot deeper than that. It goes back to your essence and beliefs and if you have two people with different views on life, you have great conflict.
6. Know your characters like they're your best friend. You should know exactly how they would react to a situation at any given time in your book.
7. Know your market and what's hip and not. Research is a wonderful thing and although I love Jane Austen, if she were to submit in the current market, I doubt she'd get 'the call'. Neither would Shakespeare if it makes you feel any better.
Now some fun stuff.
8. A great soundtrack is a must. You can make your own depending on the song and mood of the book.
9. A super hot hero, so you can have his picture up on your wall and call it research.
10. This is the most important thing for romance writers everywhere. Chocolate and wine. Now you can have one or the other or both but it is an absolute requirement to have a vice of some sort for those days when nothings works and the words won't flow.
Thanks for having me here today and I look forward to chatting some more:-)

Witch Weigh blog tour, spotlight & review.

Book Info-
Witch Weigh
By Caroline Mickelson
Publication Date: April 24, 2012 Novella length - 30K word paranormal romantic comedy

Book Blurb-
Tessa Von Hellengaard is a real witch. Magical spells aside, she’s snarky and selfish, and the other witches in her silent spell coven are fed up with her. Their plan to reform Tessa involves taking away her magic, saddling her with one hundred extra pounds, and sending her to a weight loss spa. For good measure they call in Liam Kennedy, a charming and sexy fairy godfather, to teach her some manners. Desperate to regain her magic and determined to shed the weight, Tessa soon realizes that protecting her heart from Liam will prove to be her greatest challenge.

Witch Weigh ~ Goodreads
Witch Weigh ~ Amazon

My review of Witch Weigh...

Tessa Von Hellengaard is a witch with a capital B! Rude and pretentious, she uses her magic for all the wrong reasons. Charmed fans if you will, remember the cardinal rule, no personal gain. Well Tessa missed that memo! At their limits her coven decides it's time Tessa learned a lesson in humility. The once powerful size 4 witch's magic has been taken away, and her physique now dons a larger frame. To add insult to injury, her familiar has the personality of a cat but the body of a dog, Tessa hates dogs. Oh, and she's saddled with a fairy godfather.

Liam Kennedy is the extremely charming and sexy fairy godfather that Tessa is determined not to be attracted to. Liam falls hard for the witch he's trying to rehabilitate, and Tessa finds herself loosing more than just the weight and the attitude along the way.

Fast paced romantic read with a comedic twist. Tessa comes to realize her magic can be used to help someone other than herself. Mickelson adds her own flare to the close to worn out PNR genre and proves that even though actions have consequences, lessons can be learned, people can change and there is the possibility of a "happy ever after"!

About the Author- Caroline Mickelson loves her family and loves to write. She also loves a good adventure, among her favorites thus far were attending graduate school in a Scottish castle, riding a camel around the Pyramids in Giza, and taking a best-in-a-lifetime road trip to Graceland. Caroline lives in the American southwest with her husband and their four children, affectionately known as The Miracles.

The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door blog tour. Review, Playlist & Giveaway

That’s the day the trouble started.
The trouble that nearly ruined my life.
The trouble that turned me Dark.
The trouble that begs me for revenge.

Celia Door enters her freshman year of high school with giant boots, dark eyeliner, and a thirst for revenge against Sandy Firestone, the girl who did something unspeakable to Celia last year.

But then Celia meets Drake, the cool new kid from New York City who entrusts her with his deepest, darkest secret. When Celia’s quest for justice threatens her relationship with Drake, she’s forced to decide which is sweeter: revenge or friendship.

This debut novel from Karen Finneyfrock establishes her as a bright, bold, razor-sharp new voice for teens.

My review of The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door.....

Lets start with the title and the cover. As soon as I saw this book I was intrigued, so when I was asked to review it for a tour I jumped at the chance. And then to read the tease in Celia's own words....

That’s the day the trouble started.
The trouble that nearly ruined my life.
The trouble that turned me Dark.
The trouble that begs me for revenge.

Celia Door marches into school on the first day of her freshman year in her knee high combat boots and black hoodie and promptly places her handmade nameplate on her locker. Celia the Dark. She hides behind dark clothing and makeup as well as her poetry, trying to pretend the constant belittling from the "It" girls doesn't bother her. But she's consumed with that day, the day they hurt her, the day she can not and will not forget.

But then Celia meets Drake and her plans begin to unravel. Handsome, athletic and smart; Drake befriends Celia immediately. He see's the person she is trying to hide. But Drake is hiding a secret of his own, something he shares in confidence with Celia. Soon she will have to decide which means more to her; her friendship with Drake, or getting her revenge.. to maintain one, she will loose the other.

This book surprised the hell out of me! I didn't expect the reality of the subject matter to be conveyed so directly. Sweet Revenge delves into the emotional scars left in the aftermath of bullying and divorce. And yet there is hope in the form of friendship and the promise of a future that was initially bore from the heart of the pain.

There were a couple of nice twists along the way. First when we learn Drakes secret and then toward the end when the pieces of this intricate puzzle Finneyfrock created begin to fall into place. I will definitely be recommending this book, in fact, I intend to pass my copy on to my own teenage daughter for her viewing pleasure. 5/5 just doesn't do this book justice!

Spotlight & Giveaway with author Jayson James

Finding Our WayJustin Parker and Derrick Wilson have been best friends since meeting back in middle school. Currently they are in their junior year at Chandler High School, and living the good life as teenagers. They have great girlfriends, plenty of close friends, their own cars, and parents who are well off. As nice as things might look to an outsider, something is missing from each of their lives.
Justin has become the invisible son in the midst of his parents failing marriage. In an effort to get his parent’s attention, Justin keeps getting into trouble. So far he has been able to get away with anything without facing any repercussions, while Derrick is feeling distant and tired of what he feels is a too “perfect family”. He just wants to have a normal social life and spend time with his friends without the pressures from his family to spend time with them. With blurring the lines of friendship in the process to realizing what was missing and discovering who they really are.
Justin and Derrick take turns narrating the story of their junior year in high school and all of the events that take place in their lives. Being a teenager can be tough. Being gay can be tougher. For Derrick and Justin they are both, and life cannot get any more complicated.
What happens when two best friends cross the boundaries of friendship? Will they be able to be happy together? Will they keep their secret?

Justin and Derrick, in the beginning.
They are awkward yet assured in their new found feelings for one another.

Tormented DiscoveryJustin and Derrick have a secret that they revealed only to their closest friends. They are gay and are now a couple. The story of Justin and Derrick continues as they learn more about being a gay couple in their senior year of high school and the complications that arise from it. Some friends will have their backs while others simply stand on the sidelines. Other friends will be accepting and others will ridicule them.
Sometimes love is almost not enough to save a relationship and both Derrick and Justin begin to have their doubts as they watch relationships around them rise and fall. Justin and Derrick both want to have new experiences, new choices and make new friends, which leads to them questioning their own relationship. They soon discover that some of the people they consider friends have their own secrets, some darker than others. The couple begins to see how people react towards homosexuality and just how people want to deal with it and them.
Will Justin and Derrick be able to hold onto each other while their lives and secrets spiral around them? Or will they decide to step back and give up on themselves and each other?

~ My review of Tormented Discovery ~

Justin and Derrick (and Stacey) somewhere in the middle.
The show of support from their close knit group of friends when Justin and Derrick finally let them in on their secret is amazing. Their biggest supporter would have to be Stacey.

Justin and Derrick, finally!  "Oh No"... "Oh Yes!"
Everyone now knows about Justin and Derrick so they are off to their senior prom, together!
Out and proud with the support of their friends!!

Jayson James graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor's degree in Education. He was born and raised in Washington State, where he currently lives and teaches. The farthest off the west coast he has ever been was Nevada and Arizona. Whenever Jayson has the time (and money), he likes to travel, hoping to see most of the United States over the next 5 years.

After much prompting from his friends “Finding Our Way” debut in September 2012 as Jayson James first published novel. A couple months later, he wrote and released the follow-up novel “Tormented Discovery” and thanks to his dedicated editor and friend, the book released in early 2013. Jayson has at least one more book releasing later in 2013 with the same characters. Much to his delight, fans are eagerly waiting to read what happens next with Justin, Derrick and the rest of the gang.

When Jayson is not writing he enjoys reading a variety of books from different genres. He is an avid supporter of fellow Indy authors and does whatever he can to support them. Although he often denies it when asked, he also likes to draw, mostly cartooning and sketching using pencils and oil pastels. He also loves listening to music and watching movies, one or the other is constantly playing every time he is writing or drawing and even sometimes when he is reading.

Although his first published works are of the gay new adult and gay young adult genre, he plans on publishing books of other genres at some point. Such as a children’s book he has been contemplating for many years.

Justin was kind enough to answer a few questions for me, with Derrick's critique, of course!
Justin, my notes are in red. You did a nice job of writing this on your own, and you didn't think you could do it! ~Derrick
*What was going through your mind the first time you and Derrick kissed?
Holy Shit! You cannot swear in an interview! The first kiss, I couldn’t believe we were actually kissing. I was so jazzed about it! Derrick was then and still is an amazing kisser! YOU are an amazing kisser!
*Did you feel betrayed by your dad when he allowed your mom back into your lives?
Betrayed and angry. I felt like she just up and ran out on the both of us and it didn’t make any sense  to me at the time why he would up and let her come back. Although I’d like for her and my dad to be together, I now know that sometimes no matter how hard you try sometimes things simply don’t work out. My parents are better people when they are not together. I am closer with the both of them living apart than I ever was when they were together. I am glad you and your mom are doing better!
*If you could convey your feelings for Derrick with a song, what song would it be?
Definitely Bloodhound Gang’s BAD TOUCH. Seriously?! This was funny when you shared it, but I thought you were going to keep this between us? How about Savage Garden “I Want You” as we were talking about before?  Derrick and I heard that song when we were kids on my brother James's MP3 player I borrowed for a trip to Ocean Shores. We listened to that song a thousand times over the weekend sang it to each other. Looking back on that now I think although we didn’t know it, we were trying to say something to each other. Honestly, my song to convey my feelings is (and Derrick knows this) is WIND BENEATH MY WINGS by Bette Midler. Mine for you is that MAYBE I’M AMAZED song byPaul McCartney.
*Is college everything you thought it would be?
Fuck No! I think no, alone, would suffice! I had in my mind one-way college was going to be and as life has worked out in a different direction, I struggled with it for a while, but I’m dealing with it better now.
*What is your favorite breakfast?
Mmm… I love everything breakfast! I suppose my most favorite though would be pancakes, sausage and eggs.  That sounds so good!
*When you’re driving down the road, what music do you listen to?
Anything up beat! I cannot stand slow or boring music in the car. I will keep changing stations or songs until I find one that fits my mood.  Or you listen to the same song over and over again.
*We've had a lot of good movies out so far this year, which one is your favorite?
For DVD, hands down is FLIGHT. It was fucking amazing from start to finish. Beyond the wonderfully told story, I could relate to the main character struggling between doing what is right and what would be better for him.  I thought for sure you’d put PITCH PERFECT and TED. I’ve lost count of how many times you’ve had us watch the both of these! As for in theaters the only movie I’ve had a chance to see was WARM BODIES, but I really liked it! I still want to get the book… I thought the movie was okay. Please stop using the "F" word!
*What do you think about gay marriage being allowed in Washington state?
It’s a big step in the right direction and I think shows how diverse and wise the people of this state are. However Derrick and I have no immediate plans of marriage, he has agreed to take my name. Then you do agree our anniversary is in the spring? Yeah! We both realize we are still young and are not in a hurry though.  Are we?

Sacred blog tour. Review, Spotlight & Giveaway.

Growing up on Catalina Island, off the California coast, Scarlett Wenderoth has led a fairly isolated life. After her brother dies, her isolation deepens as she withdraws into herself, shutting out her friends and boyfriend. Her parents, shattered by their own sorrow, fail to notice Scarlett's pain and sudden alarming thinness. Scarlett finds pleasure only on her horse, escaping to the heart of the island on long, solitary rides. One day, as she races around a bend, Scarlett is startled by a boy who raises his hand in warning and says one word: "Stop."

The boy—intense, beautiful—is Will Cohen, a newcomer to the island. For reasons he can't or won't explain, he's drawn to Scarlett and feels compelled to keep her safe. To keep her from wasting away. His meddling irritates Scarlett, though she can't deny her attraction to him. As their relationship blossoms into love,  Scarlett's body slowly awakens at Will's touch. But just when her grief begins to ebb, she makes a startling discovery about Will, a discovery he's been grappling with himself. A discovery that threatens to force them apart. And if it does, Scarlett fears she will unravel all over again.

ELANA K. ARNOLD completed her M.A. in Creative Writing/Fiction at the University of
California, Davis. She grew up in Southern California, where she was lucky enough to
have her own horse--a gorgeous mare named Rainbow--and a family who let her read
as many books as she wanted. She lives in Long Beach, California, with her husband,
two children, and a menagerie of animals. She is represented by Rubin Pfeffer of the

Excerpt:
"Since coming to the island, Scarlett, I've felt pulled closer and closer to you...like you're the earth, and I'm the moon caught in your orbit. I can't pull away, I don't want to pull away."
My review:
Scarlett and her family live on the small island of Catalina, off the coast in California. They were the average, run of the mill family until tragedy struck and her brother died. Her parents immediately became emotionally unavailable, withdrawn into their own grief. So they are completely oblivious to Scarlett and her pain, her weight loss and the fact that she is hurting herself. The only time she is truly happy is when she’s on her horse, riding is her escape from reality.
It’s on one of her rides that she almost runs right over the handsome boy with the striking good looks, brilliant green eyes and dark curly hair. Will Cohen is new to the island and has an innate ability of being in the right place at the right time, right when Scarlett needs him.
The connection they share is evident and it doesn’t take long before Scar is eating, laughing and living again. But Will has a secret, one that threatens to tear these two apart before they even have a chance to begin.
Arnold has managed to capture the tragically beautiful life that Scarlett leads, and express it in such a way that the reader will be captivated. You will be drawn into Scar’s pain as she struggles with the aftermath and devastation her brother’s death left. How does a young girl pick up the pieces of her once perfect now shattered life? Finally finding that which she longs for with Will, only to learn his secret and have him too pull away from her, just like her parents have done.
My only complaint was the all too quick turn around from her mother. She goes from emotionally absent, dependant on sleeping pills, phoning in her parenting skills to overbearing and over protective in five minutes flat. Don’t get me wrong, I was pleased she finally pulled her head out of her a@@. I would have liked to have seen a bit more development there and not the unrealistic flip.
Overall this was a moving story of a little girl lost trying to get past the grief and pain, and come out on the other side a better person. Definitely a must read for YA love stories, with a slight paranormal twist. I give this one 4/5, but that’s just my two cents!

Coming soon!  November 12th 2013, Splendor, the sequel to Sacred..

Splendor

The passionate romance that began in Sacred concludes in Splendor.
Scarlett loves the touch of her boyfriend, Will. But when he leaves Catalina Island to start college on the East Coast, she wonders whether their passion can survive a long-distance relationship—and whether she can face the home front on her own. Scarlett's senior year should be a breeze, but her parents have recently separated, and her already-wild best friend, Lily, is becoming involved with a dangerous boy named Gunner . . . a boy Scarlett is also attracted to. A boy she doesn't want to be—and shouldn't be—attracted to.
To take her mind off her troubles, Scarlett focuses on caring for her newly pregnant mare and delving deeper into the Kabbalah. Her religious exploration offers a way to stay connected to Will, who is a Kabbalah mystic, and a key to understanding her disturbing dreams about him. But as she gets wrapped up in her mare, her Kabbalah studies, and her conflicting feelings for Will and Gunner, Scarlett misses the warning signs that lead to a heartbreaking loss.

Book #1
By Robert S. Fuller Jr.
Publication Date: November 2012

Book Blurb:
While collaborating on a fashion show, Samantha Hammond, a forty-something Display Manager, draws the attention of the mysterious clothing designer Valerie Ross. Samantha’s journey of self-discovery takes her from the security of her hometown in Lexington, Ohio to the shores of a secluded paradise called Sabbatical Island. As their relationship flourishes, Samantha learns that Valerie harbors a terrifying secret. The revelation thrusts Samantha into a nightmarish world where vampires and witches dwell in the darkness. Pamela Darius, a murderous adversary from Valerie’s past, uses Samantha and those around her as pawns in a deadly game filled with seduction, pain, betrayal, and death.

Robert is a fan of all things relating to vampires. It’s this obsession with vampires that makes his debut, “Valerie: Daughter of the Dragon”, the perfect vehicle to launch his writing career. Robert was born and raised in Northeast Ohio at a time when late night television stations filled their programming with old horror movies. Robert gravitated towards the motion picture vampire, but also the vampires depicted in the writings of Stephen King, F. Paul Wilson, and Robert McCammon.
Robert worked at JC Penney’s, where he spent 10 years in the Visual Display Department. His love of vampires, and a decade in the retail/fashion industry, provided the inspiration to create his own vampire tale. After several years of writing and re-writing, “Valerie: Daughter of the Dragon” was born.
When Robert isn’t writing, he enjoys going to the movies, or listening to his extensive music collection. Robert is a huge sports fan, but prefers football and baseball to all other sports. One of his favorite pastimes is participating as team owner and Commissioner of a long running fantasy football league. Robert manages to travel to the beaches of South Carolina at least once a year to recharge and enjoy some ocean time. Robert is married to his best friend and soulmate, Jackie. They have a son, Dustin, and two rambunctious cats, Meeps and Benny.
