Hunter's world changes when he meets Cam. The wary young man intrigues him and awakens a desire unlike anything he's ever experienced. When Cam's past resurfaces and threatens to rip them apart, their budding relationship is challenged and Cam's hope for a future begins to dim.
These outside forces hunting Cam will stop at nothing to send him back to prison. But they'll have to get past Hunter first.
Excerpt

Hunter stood in line and watched Cam tend to the few lingering post-lunchtime customers. Cam's smile came a little easier and his stance less guarded.
His body, although still lean, was tighter and a little broader from the yard work at the halfway house. A slight tan colored his skin now, the faint golden tone further accentuating the blue in his eyes and the white of his smile. His hair had a sprinkling of highlights as if the sun had kissed his head. Sunrises gave him hope, but they also seemed to awaken a natural physical beauty that had been hidden for far too long.
"How can I help you? Sir," Cam said when it was finally Hunter's turn at the register.
Hunter leaned over the counter. "You know that drives me nuts."
Cam smiled and grabbed Hunter's tie to pull him closer. "I know." After a quick peck, Cam released him.
Hunter reached over and rubbed Cam's stubble. "Are you letting this grow out?"
Cam shrugged. He looked away and scratched his growing scruff. "It makes me look older."
"Since when do you want to look older?"
Cam shrugged again and fidgeted with the receipts.
Realization finally hit Hunter. He grabbed Cam's chin and forced him to make eye contact. "Are you doing that for me?"
Cam's mouth narrowed and his brows lowered. "There's not much I can do for you. So if growing some hair on my face will make you feel a little less self-conscious, then I'll grow a full fucking beard if I have to."

Deliver by Pam Godwin {blog tour Spotlight, Review & Giveaway}

His name was Joshua Carter. Now it's whatever she wants it to be.

She is a Deliverer.

She lures young men and delivers them to be sold. She delivers the strikes that enforce their obedience. She delivers the sexual training that determines their purchase price.

As long as she delivers, the arrangement that protects her family will hold.

Delivering is all she knows.

The one thing she can't deliver is a captive from slavery.

Until him.

And her stubborn slave thinks he can deliver her...from herself.

Romantic Thriller
Stand Alone (no cliff-hanger). The sequel is coming Summer 2014.
Content warning: Graphic sex, violence, and psychological abuse. Age 18+ only.

Liv is presented as a stone cold bitch. She pretends to be the damsel in distress, engaging her mark, and then closing them in. Like a venus fly trap almost. But Liv is not the bitch she presents herself to be, somewhere deep down locked away inside her is a strong, vibrant woman that is a victim of circumstance. She does what she is told in order to protect those she loves.

Josh is a down to earth genuinely nice guy. He's studying to become a minister, his mission in life is to help people. His inability to sense danger makes him the current victim of circumstance, or of Liv to be more precise. You see, Liv is a Deliverer. She lures the unsuspecting that fit the description her employer gives her. Sex and obedience are her specialty, until she captures Josh. Will he be the one to free her from this life she has become?

Oh my but this book was just raw sexuality wrapped up in chains! Godwin pushes the boundaries in this story both with the characters and the world they live in. The plot was anything but predictable, with several twists and turns throughout. In a unique twist, the guy is the one being held captive and the girl is calling the shots, literally. Even after finishing this book I couldn't say if Liv is the heroine or Josh the hero. Liv is strong and courageous to spite the life she is force to lead. Josh refuses to break or give in, period.

While there were some aspects to this story that were completely unrealistic, and some content that made me cringe, overall the writing was fantastic and I was engaged in the story throughout. I give this one 3.5/5 stars.

A Courageous Ride by Andrew Grey review, guest post & giveaway {Song & Scene}

A Courageous Ride (The Bullriders, #3)The Bullriders: Book Three

Aspiring orchestra conductor Marshall is exhausted after months of auditions without a single job offer. Marshall’s friend, Terry, recommends a change of scenery and points Marshall in the direction of a dude ranch run by former bull rider Indigo Santana. Marshall is understandably skeptical, but his friend is convincing, and Marshall needs a break, so he agrees to go.

Indigo captures Marshall’s attention but leaves him confused. Indigo’s confidence is shot after an injury ended his rodeo career, and he walks with a slight limp. He hasn’t been anywhere near a bull since he was hurt, and he’s not the most accommodating host. After all, the only reason he keeps guests is because his family ranch is all but bankrupt.

Marshall’s attraction doesn’t go unanswered, which leaves him with a huge dilemma. He’s torn between the possibility of love, something he’s searched for all his life, and the career he’s worked toward for as long as he can remember, which is miles away. From his side of the fence, Indigo doesn’t see how the ranch could ever be enough.

Marshall is just going through the motions in his life, not truly committed to anything, although he wants to be. He is a trained Orchestra Conductor, but audition after audition yields the same results, thank you but no. A recently ended long term relationship left him in a bad way as well, he is seriously just burn out and at the verge. His best friend Terry finally convinces him that he needs a vacation and sends him off to a Ranch he’s recently heard good things about.

Indigo is a former bull rider that had to give up his dreams after an injury. He now runs a pretty successful Dude Ranch that is adjacent to Dante and Ryan’s place. {Fans of the series will remember Dante and Ryan from ‘A Wild Ride’, book 1 in this series.} While Indigo runs his ranch, renting out rooms and offering trail rides and such, Dante helps him out if needed by offering up his mechanical bull for Indigo’s guests. When Marshall shows up on the ranch exhausted but enamoured with his surroundings, Indigo can’t help but take notice of the beautiful man.

The two men are polar opposites, but they still manage to fall fast and hard for each other. Marshall sees something so lyrical in everything about Indigo. Whether it be his movements, his voice, a sexy moan or a deliberate groan. And Indigo sees the independence and exuberance that simmers beneath the surface anytime he’s with Marshall. Love at first sight doesn’t even begin to describe these two. But is a passionate love for each other enough to give up something that either of them has worked toward for as long as they can remember?

I really liked the musicality in this story. Marshall’s life is music, he’s a Conductor, so he translates the most mundane of movements and words into a song. And Indigo is his grand masterpiece. The rough and rugged cowboy that is most comfortable riding horseback under the stars, coupled with the gentle conductor that takes his violin on vacation was the perfect blend of delicate and passionate heat. Ah but then there is a scratch in the vinyl. Marshall’s ex no longer wants to be an ex, and one of those tryouts finally calls back. When given a choice between his dreams and the possibility of a life and love on the ranch with Indigo, what will he choose?

What I adore about Andrew Grey and look forward to with every new read is his ability to show vulnerability in his characters. The writing is always steady and the storylines flow like water. Of course, sometimes there is the rise and fall, like a wave.

Do I recommend this book? Two words.. one click! And while this is the third book in a series, and I always recommend reading series in order, this book does have legs to stand on its own.

And now for the good stuff! Song and Scene guest post with Author Andrew grey..

A Courageous Ride

Indigo was injured in his last bull ride and he hasn’t been back on a bull since.  There is a scene in A Courageous Ride where aspiring orchestra conductor Marshall convinces Indigo that he needs to demonstrate how to ride the neighbor’s mechanical bull.  Marshall doesn’t realize that its Indigo’s first time, back on the bull, as it were.  Indigo’s ride sparks music in Marshall’s mind, original, energetic music.  During that scene with Indigo on the bull and Marshall being carried away on the sight of Indigo swaying his hips, hands in the air with music running through his head, I couldn’t help thinking of Aaron Copland’s Rodeo, specifically the portion entitled Buckaroo Holiday.

This piece of music is as energetic and lively.  As I was writing that section of the story, that music played in my head over and over.  I of course couldn’t have Marshall write Buckaroo Holiday, but he felt that same energy and vitality as expressed in Aaron Copland’s music.

In the end, Marshall writes his own western symphony as a “musical portrait of the ranch and the family I share it with.”  I am always trying to find ways for my characters to express their love, and with this one I think I hit it out of the park.  Or more specifically, hit the exact right note.  I hope it does for you.

Another piece of inspirational music for this story was Hoe Down also by Aaron Copland and part of Rodeo as well.

What I heard in my head, or saw in my minds eye, while reading this story was a crisp violin. There is a scene where Marshall is watching Indigo riding the mechanical bull and he can hear the beauty in the movements Indigo makes. In another scene there is mention of Marshall taking his violin case out of the car. So this is a song I heard while I was reading this story.

Thank you so much Andrew Grey for sharing some of the behind the scenes for this fantastic book with us. Until next time...

Editing: Read Owl

Jacqs is a twenty-eight year old woman caught up in an on again, off again relationship with Bond, who is her best friend and the one who causes her the most heartache. She succumbs, yet again, to his powerful charisma, but vows not make it into more than it is, a great night of sex.

Bond, too sexy for his own good, wants Jacqs for himself as he “dates” his way through the female population of South Florida. He selfishly doesn’t see the conflict of interest.

Red, Bond’s best friend, has watched Bond take Jacqs for granted for way too long and soon stakes his own claim on her.

Will Red and Jacqs budding relationship pull apart their tight-knit group of friends and will Jacqs survive being Stuck In Between.

Blakely Bennett grew up in Southeast Florida and has been residing in the great Northwest for over eight years. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a degree in psychology, which accounts for her particular interest in crafting the personalities, struggles, and motivations of her characters. She is an avid reader of many genres of fiction, but especially erotica and romance. Writing has always been her bliss. She is attracted to stories of self-struggle and ultimate recovery.

Blakely is married to a wonderful, loving and supportive husband, also a writer, who helps to keep her grounded. She is a mother, a communitarian, a lover of music (always on while she is writing—thank you, Pandora), and a good friend. An advocate of love and female empowerment, she is a facilitator for a women’s group. She loves to walk and hike for exercise and finds that, since moving to Seattle, WA, she is now one of those “crazy” people who walk in the rain.

Stuck In Between (erotic romance) is her 5th novel. She is also the author of the dark erotic suspense, My Body Trilogy (My Body-His, My Body-His (Marcello) & My Body-Mine) and co-authored the contemporary romance, The Demarcation of Jack with her husband, Dana Bennett.

Review of Love Comes Home by Andrew Grey {book 3 in the Senses series}

Love Comes Home (Senses, #3)When architect Gregory Hampton’s son, Davey, starts having trouble in Little League, Greg takes him to an eye doctor. The diagnosis hits them hard. Davey’s sight is degenerating rapidly, and eventually he’ll go blind.

Tom Spangler is used to getting what he wants. When Greg captures his attention, he asks Greg for a date. They have a good time until Greg gets a call from the friends watching his son, telling him Davey has fallen. Greg and Tom return to find the worst has happened—Davey can no longer see.

With so much going on in his life, Greg doubts he’ll see Tom again. But Tom has researched beep baseball, where balls and bases make sounds to enable the visually impaired to participate in Little League. Tom spearheads an effort to form a team so Davey can continue to play the game he loves. But when Greg’s ex-wife shows up with her doctor boyfriend, offering a possible cure through a radical procedure, Greg must decide how far he’ll go to give Davey a chance at getting his sight back.

Gregory Hampton is a devoted single father putting everything he has into raising his son who he has sole custody of. Davey is an accomplished little league player, he loves baseball, but he hasn’t been playing his best lately. The uncle of one of Davey’s teammates suggests bringing Davey to the eye doctor to check his sight. What he learns when he does is that his son, so vibrant and full of life at ten years old, has a degenerative eye disease. He’s going blind.

At a cookout with his friends, one of whom is blind, Greg opens up about his concerns and takes comfort in his friends understanding and suggestions. He also catches the eye of Tom Spangler. Wasting no time, Tom makes sure Greg is gay from the start, and sets his sights on getting the gorgeous single dad to go out with him. Tom is wealthy and used to getting what he wants, but what he truly wants is someone that can see past his money, and love him as a person. Has he found that person with Greg?

Greg is hesitant to open up to Tom as well, he too has some issues with trusting that someone could get past his baggage and just love him and his son. It’s a lot to ask of a guy, to take on a single father with a blind child. But Tom does just that. He learns as much as he can about Davey’s blindness, even researching beep baseball. It’s a bumpy start, but soon Tom and Greg are dating and getting to know each other, and Davey certainly approves. Then Joyce, Davey’s physically and emotionally absent mother, shows up with her “doctor” boyfriend in tow and stirs up a hornet’s nest.

It’s one thing to be born blind and never know color, sight or scenery. Little Davey has experienced all of this, and lost it, so he is angry and confused. Grey didn’t a phenomenal job of showing the full range of emotions that a ten year old boy would display in this situation. This was a new side of Grey I saw in this story as well. Instead of going for the passionate love story between the two male leads, he went for the building of the relationship between Greg, Tom AND Davey. After all, they are meant to become a family.

Another exceptional story in the Senses series by Andrew Grey. What makes this series in particular so good is the way Grey builds the story around the person with the disability and shows that they are still a person with a depth of feeling that is even stronger because of what they have lost. Each character grows stronger with love and friendship, which is a constant circle within these stories.

The story in this book could be read by itself, but to fully appreciate the various characters and their background stories, I suggest you read them in order. And I definitely recommend this book, this series, this author across the board. Oh, and this is a FIVE STAR read, if I didn't say!

Big Fat Disaster
By Beth Fehlbaum
Insecure, shy, and way overweight, Colby hates the limelight as much as her pageant-pretty mom and sisters love it. It’s her life: Dad’s a superstar, running for office on a family values platform. Then suddenly, he ditches his marriage for a younger woman and gets caught stealing money from the campaign. Everyone hates Colby for finding out and blowing the whistle on him. From a mansion, they end up in a poor relative’s trailer, where her mom’s contempt swells right along with Colby’s supersized jeans. Then, a cruel video of Colby half-dressed, made by her cousin Ryan, finds its way onto the internet. Colby plans her own death. A tragic family accident intervenes, and Colby’s role in it seems to paint her as a hero, but she’s only a fraud. Finally, threatened with exposure, Colby must face facts about her selfish mother and her own shame. Harrowing and hopeful, proof that the truth that saves us can come with a fierce and terrible price, Big Fat Disaster is that rare thing, a story that is authentically new.

“Colby’s life … is difficult enough, but it gets worse very quickly once she discovers a photo of her politician father kissing another woman. The fast pace, lively … dialogue, and timely topic make it a quick and enjoyable read.” – Kirkus Reviews (Starred)

Big Fat Disaster book trailer

Colby's seemingly picture perfect life is crashing down around her. She struggles with her weight and is overwhelmed with self loathing. Her mother, former Miss something or other, doesn't help matters in the lease. Constantly belittling Colby, putting her down and condemning her about her weight. When her dad, former football star, gets caught in a cheating and corruption scandel Colby herself is the one to blow the whistle. Instead of being commended for her honesty, her mother only comes down on her even harder for ruining their not so perfect life.

The family is forced to move Piney Creek with her aunt Leah and cousin Ryan. Life only worsens for this young misguided and misunderstood teenager. She is picked on, ridiculed and harassed at school. You'd think a young girl could go home and cry on her mother's shoulder, feel safe at home at least, right? WRONG. Her mother would be a fabulous candidate for involuntary sterilization, just sayin.

I digress. As Colby's world begins to implode around her, she makes a drastic decision to take her own life, with more dire consequences than even she imagined. The plan doesn't go as planned, and Colby ends up wrapped so tight in a lie she can't even begin to comprehend how to get out of it. Things go from bad to worse before they get better, but Colby has friends and allies she hasn't recognized yet.

This book pushes a lot of buttons. An emotionally absent and verbally abusive mother, rape, corruption, bullying, suicide and body image issues. It was hard at times for me to separate the content with the emotions it stirred. The book itself is very well written, and the pain and anguish that Colby feels is very well conveyed, maybe too well. I found myself wondering at the end, how much is too much?

If you can see beyond all the negativity in this story, as I said, the writing is quite good. And even with everything young Colby endures throughout, she is still standing in the end, maybe even a little taller. I'd love a sequel though showing how she progressed with her therapy, after she finally embraced it. Is she going to college? Has someone hit her bitch ass mother with their car?? I'm giving this one 3.5/5. While the writing is strong and character development was evident, the 2 steps forward then 3 steps back weighed the overall storyline down for me.

Always by Kindle Alexander {blog tour review & giveaway}

Always Blog Tour Banner

Born to a prestigious political family, Avery Adams plays as hard as he works. The gorgeous, charismatic attorney is used to getting what he wants, even the frequent one-night stands that earn him his well-deserved playboy reputation. When some of the most prominent men in politics suggest he run for senate, Avery decides the time has come to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. With a strategy in place and the campaign wheels rolling, Avery is ready to jump on the legislative fast track, full steam ahead. But no amount of planning prepares him for the handsome, uptight restaurateur who might derail his political future.
Easy isn't even in the top thousand words to describe Kane Dalton's life after his father, a devout southern Baptist minister, kicks him out of the family home for questioning his sexual orientation. Despite all the rotten tomatoes life throws his way, Kane makes something of himself. Between owning a thriving upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Minneapolis and managing his long-term boyfriend, his plate is full. He struggles to get past the teachings of his childhood to fully accept his sexuality and rid himself of the doubts brought on by his religious upbringing. The last thing he needs is the yummy, sophisticated, blond-haired distraction sitting at table thirty-four.

Avery Adams is the grandson of the former President of the United States, his father is a senator. Avery himself is considering running for the senate, politics is in his blood. The gorgeous, blonde, charismatic attorney is somewhat of a playboy. He keeps his lovers in the closet along with his sexuality, because homosexuality and politics do not mix. That is, until he meets Kane.

Kane Dalton is the owner of a very successful restaurant in town. He is sophisticated, handsome and charming. He runs La Bella Luna with his close friend who is like a father to him, Paulie. Kane’s own family kicked him out when he told them he was gay, and take every chance they get to beguile and belittle him, but waste no time cashing the checks he send them every month! He’s always dealt with an inner struggle with who he is because of his strict religious upbringing, how just being true to himself goes against everything he was raised to believe. But Avery Adams is about to change all that.

Always is the story of the life of Avery Adams and Kane Dalton. The ups and downs, highs and lows, for love and longing aren’t everything, but through it all they build a life together that is legendary. Kane is hesitant at the start, but Avery pursues him relentlessly. Over several decades together, Kane’s hesitation never quite leaves, but he grows more comfortable within his love for Avery and becomes more comfortable showing their love publically. Their wedding was wonderous, the birth of their twins was beautiful, but with the sweets comes the sour.

When Avery accepts his father’s nomination to run as the Vice Presidential candidate under his father who is running for President, as a family they decide to do it. Every decision they make, they do it as a family. Avery, Kane and the twins along with Paulie, who is Kane’s father figure, and Kennedy, Avery’s mom. Reporters and homophobes are going after Kane, stating their marriage isn’t even legal, and Kane’s only family is offering up their own venom for this snake of hatred spewing across the nation. But Avery stands tall and stands up for what is his, he will protect his family, even if it means leaving behind his career in politics. NOTHING matters more than Kane and his kids, Always.

I’m certain many people only dream to achieve the level of happiness that Kane and Avery experienced in their lives together. Even through tragedy and loss they manage to remain a strong family unit that is always based on love. Alexander has written a very powerful, poignant and endearing novel that will touch you and stay with you long after you read those last few words. I can’t say anymore because it would be too easy to give too much away, and you simply must read this beautiful love story for yourself.

I will say, this just became the best book that I have read this year thus far, I highly recommend it to anyone, everyone. Be warned, mass quantities of Kleenex are required. Maybe even be proactive and take a benedryl ahead of time, try to counteract some of the full on snot slinging crying you’ll surely be doing. Ah, but there is laughter as well, and love, so much love, Always.

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. Free Falling re-release Virtual Blog Tour {Review, Spotlight & COMMENT Giveaway}

A note from Author SE Jakes..

Thanks so much for having me here today, so I can shout about the fact that Free Falling’s getting a re-release with Riptide!  I’m so excited about this, you have no idea. For me, this is the book that started the Hell or High Water series (see below for more on that).

Free Falling originally came out in December of 2012—it was the first book I self-published, and I worked with Sarah Frantz as my editor (and she’s now my Riptide editor as well) and the entire experience was simply awesome.

This would also be the second book Prophet inserted himself into (the first was Bound For Keeps).  It was then I realized that the man needed his own series or else he would show up in every single book I wrote.  But for Free Falling, it certainly cemented the bond between Blue and Prophet.  I’ve brought Blue and Mick back in Long Time Gone (Hell or High Water 2) and yes, I’m totally planning a Free Falling sequel, which would happen sometime post Dirty Love (Dirty Deeds 3).  Because I can’t get enough of Blue, my favorite thief, and Mick, the man who’ll chase him every single time.

The great thing about moving this book to Riptide is that now all my EE, Ltd. books are in one place AND Free Falling will now be available everywhere in eFormat AND in print!!! The cover looks gorgeous in person.

Every comment on this blog tour enters you in a drawing to win one of three SIGNED copies of Hell or High Water series: Catch a Ghost and Long Time Gone. Entries close at midnight, Eastern Time, on March 24th, and winners will be announced on March 25th.  Contest is valid worldwide.

About Free Falling:
Sometimes falling in love is the most dangerous thing of all.
Blue is a thief who lives for adrenaline and danger. And when he meets Mick, a mercenary, he’s hit with a buzz of attraction like the rush of a high-rise job without a safety rope. But after making plans to get together, Mick leaves him hanging, and Blue vows never again.
A year later, Mick watches helplessly as Blue stumbles into the middle of one of Mick’s jobs. Risking his cover and their lives, Mick saves Blue and cares for him as he recuperates, but neither man has any idea how to handle the intimacy this forces them into.
Once Blue is safe, Mick redoubles his efforts to take down the drug lord responsible—and disappears. Blue goes after him, determined to return the favor and rescue the man he loves, no matter the cost.

This is a revised second edition of the originally self-published title. No substantive changes have been made to the story.

About SE Jakes:
SE Jakes writes m/m romance. She believes in happy endings and fighting for what you want in both fiction and real life.
She lives in New York with her family, and most days, she can be found happily writing (in bed). No really...

Blue is a mastermind thief who has turned the calling into an art form. He’s also an adrenaline junkie. Each one alone is dangerous enough, but when you combine the two and then throw him off his game by throwing love at him as well, it could be deadly. Mick is a MERC and former CIA operative. The big bear of a man is used to being in control and his take charge attitude is one of the things that caught Blue’s attention from the start. When these two meet sparks definitely fly. But do remember that explosions start from sparks, and this relationship goes way beyond explosive!

Blue and Mick first met a year ago, when Blue found himself on the losing end of a bet that landed him tied to bed waiting on Mick. When Mick never showed up to claim his winnings, Blue refused to admit how hurt he was at the diss. When they meet up again the initial spark quickly becomes a slow burn. When Blue is in danger, Mick risks everything to save him. As a result of the drug now surging through Blue’s system, sort of a super speed Viagra, Mick finally gets Blue the way he’s always wanted him. But it’s not all fun and games for these two, as they’ve never wanted or trusted another person as much as they want to trust each other.

There were a few hiccups along the way with this story, but overall I was fascinated with the world and this black market drug. I could see the ending coming a mile away, but it still remained interesting getting there. The BDSM aspect was a healthy dose but still tactful, and Mick never did anything to Blue that he didn’t welcome, want and enjoy. I wanted more character development as far as their love story went, and at times the story itself didn’t flow seamlessly. But as a whole, I’m intrigued with these characters as well as Prophet, and I will definitely be reading the other books in this series.

If you like assanine alpha males, that HEA that you have to work for, a bit of action and suspense all tied with a choppy little BDSM bow... then this is a must read for you. This is a solid 3 star read.
