Meant for Me (The Rock Gods book #5) Spotlight, Review & Giveaway

Meant For Me
The Rock Gods book #5
Ann Lister
Contemporary Gay Romance
***** Tams 5 Star review *****

Tony Wilcox, the quiet keyboard player for Ivory Tower, has always believed he was straight. A sexual encounter with his best friend leaves Tony questioning his heart and the unwavering attraction he has for Jared. Living and working together is no longer enough for Tony... he wants more. He wants Jared as his.

Jared Baker, the bass player for the band, has a past that is getting in the way of him fully embracing what he wants... Tony. He's tried everything to create distance between them, but none of it eliminated the feelings he has developed for Tony.

Trying to suppress the anger and confusion from Jared withdrawing from his life, Tony does his best to get beyond the feelings he has for his friend. When Jared becomes deathly ill, it's Tony that he calls for help and Tony has to decide if he can heal Jared without giving away too much of his heart.

Can best friends find their way to true love and discover if they were meant for each other, or will the challenges of life force them to choose separate paths?

Tony and Jared have been bandmates, roommates and best friends for years. When all the other guys in the band want to go out and party, Tony and Jared are happy to spend the night at home at their condo, watching TV. They are so in sync they even finish each other’s sentences. Somewhere along the way, the lines between friendship and something else got blurred. While Tony is confused by his ever growing feelings for his best friend, Jared fights his feelings to the point it drives a wedge between them.

Jared struggles with the attraction he is feeling for Tony, big time. When things finally reach a breaking point and Jared realizes that the stigma associated with loving another man doesn’t matter as long as he has Tony in his life, by his side, it might be too late. Eating crow takes on new meaning when Jared follows Tony to his brother’s wedding. Either Jared will convince Tony that he wants to be with him, really be with him, or it will be the quickest round trip flight in history.

Early on in this book I wanted to take Tony’s head in one hand, Jared’s in the other and just slam them together. They were both feeling this confusion and pain but I’ll be damned if they would talk to each other. No they just festered in it and got angrier, more confused and continued to drift further apart. That frustration quickly morphed into sorrow as I continued to read and saw how much the tear in the foundation of their friendship really rocked them both. It took Jared a little while longer to come to terms with their mutual attraction, and he did some pretty stupid shit along the way. But once they were finally both on the same page, the story took on an entirely different meaning.

The story is told from alternating POV between Tony and Jared, including a trip back in time so the reader can get the entire picture of Tony and Jared’s lives, which is key to understanding why Jared struggled to the extent he did with his attraction to Tony. Once they finally accept and embrace becoming lovers, the story takes another turn. It becomes a passionate and endearing love story. But with the sweets, comes the sour. The family that they’ve become a part of, the two bands and all the members, hits some rough waters when Danni goes into labor early and she and the baby are in danger. Then Tony’s brother Harry goes MIA after cleaning out Tony’s bank accounts. So before Tony and Jared can really get comfortable in this next phase of their relationship, they are forced to deal with some of the worst life has to offer. It’s only through the strength of their bond, truly relying on each other, that they’ll make it through.

This is a must read for my fellow hopeless romantics. Tony and Jared will make you want to strangle them one minute, then leave you rooting for them to make it the next. There is a little bit of angst, a good dose of camaraderie, and a whole lot of passion and love to go around! Definitely a must read but they must be read in order. I’m going to have to go back and re-read this amazing series to get ready for the next book, which promises to be a no holds barred, furniture breaking, possibly bruised and bloody story for Dante and the guy that he loves to hate.

The Breaking of Bonds, Bad Blood book II by Alina Popescu | Cover Reveal, Excerpt & Giveaway {Eyes on Books}

A human sacrifice throws vampires of two worlds, trueborn and baseborn, into an escalating conflict. One side pushes for revenge, the other for freedom. The trueborns stubbornly hunt for Anthony and Louis, pushed by Hesrah’s desire to avenge her human best friend, Alexa. The baseborns are divided between rallying with those challenging the rule of Ankhsis and obeying the trueborns.

What emerges from the portal between Earth and Ankhsis in the middle of the turmoil rocking both worlds is more dead than alive. Neither human, nor baseborn, and certainly not trueborn. This new being will either damn them all or be their race’s most powerful weapon. Will they trust it not to destroy them, or will Ankhsis decide putting it down is the only solution?

In the end, who is guilty? Who will pay? Will anyone survive its wrath?

Hesrah was growing impatient; she wanted to return to the portal, so she decided she needed to push them to finally share their information with her.

"What is it that you have discovered that needed my immediate attention?"

Anhubis took out an envelope from the inside pocket of his jacket and threw it on the table. She reached out to it and found a few photos in it. Louis, strapped down to a chair, all bloody and beaten. Good for him!

"What is this?" she asked, looking at Anhubis from under knitted eyebrows.

"One of our baseborn friends – we still have a few of those – followed Anthony after the events in Juliana Park. He managed to send these over before being caught."

"Do you know where he was?"

"Yes, but they are long gone."

"Why would Anthony do this to his partner in crime?" she asked, tilting her head.

"God knows," Anukh stepped in. "Maybe they were never partners. Maybe he found out who Louis really was."

"Can you find them again? Or do I have to bring an Inner Sanctum squad over here?"

"Don't you dare!" Anhubis said in a thundering voice, pointing a threatening finger at her. "The Inner Sanctum will not meddle on Earth. I will find them again."

"Make sure you let me know the moment you do," Hesrah said, her eyes boring into him.

"Won't you be too busy guarding the portals, waiting for your precious human friend?"

His mocking smirk, more so than his sarcastic words, got to her and in a blink of an eye her fist raced through the air, connecting to his face. As he fell to the ground, she lunged and got on top of him, her fangs piercing the skin of his neck. Her nostrils flared at the spicy cologne he was wearing and she managed to squeeze a few drops of his blood before Anhubis threw her off of him. The fight would have surely escalated if Anukh wouldn't have stepped in to stop them.

"Are you both crazy?" he hissed, a deep frown line marring his forehead. "Anhubis, you are the head of the High Council. Surely you can tell how ill-advised being inconsiderate towards humans is. And you, Hesrah! You are a part of the Inner Sanctum and your mother's daughter. You should both be ashamed."

When they moved away from each other, Anukh, with a half sad, half disgusted smile, said a hurried good-bye and left the room.

"If you ever talk about her like that, I will kill you with my bare hands," Hesrah said through clenched teeth. To her, that was not a threat, it was a promise, and she suspected Anhubis knew it, as he nodded quickly and took a step back.

Excerpt...

I awaken with a jolt, thinking I’ve fallen out of my seat. As usual, when I fly, I end up scrunched all the way down on the seat as far as I can go. If I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt, I’d be on the floor. Did we hit something? Confused, I sit up, trying to assess the situation only to notice we’re in some awful turbulence. Angry, dark, purple to black rain clouds surround us. My heart starts pounding in my chest. The plane rocks side to side, bouncing us all over the sky. I pull out my earbuds hoping to hear the Captain’s voice saying everything’s okay.

Bryce pries my hand off the armrest and interlocks our fingers. I look over at him, my eyes wide with terror. He’s talking to me, trying to give me reassurance. The only thing going through my mind right now is how afraid I am.

“Shhh, it’s going to be okay, Ali.” He has such a soothing voice when he’s not being an ass. I try to say something, but I can’t speak. Nothing will come out of my mouth.

“Focus on me.” His thumb strokes the back of my hand. It’s serene and has an instant calming effect on me until we hit another pocket of air. Images of the Captain fighting for dominance over the weather and control of the plane against the storm flash through my mind. I know he’s doing all he can so we don’t spiral downward.

Other passengers cry out in panic. My head jerks back toward the window. I can barely breathe. I don’t want him to see me like this - raw emotions, so vulnerable. Weak.

He places his hand on my face, turning it towards him. “Don’t cry. I’ve got you. Just keep looking at me, okay?” He’s trying to calm me but the only thing I can do is nod. I tighten my grip on his hand and he lets me know it’s all right.

My heart is beating so fast, so hard, I can feel it in my ears and can hear each beat. Tears roll down my face and he gently wipes them away with his thumb. In this moment, as much as I despise him, I’m glad he’s here with me.

“I need you to take deep breaths. Can you do that? Do what I do, okay?” I watch his mouth and listen. We hit another pocket of air, but not as violent as the others. My eyes grow wider as more tears stream down my face.

“I’m here. I’m not going to let anything happen to you. Keep looking at me. Ali, I need you to focus on me and listen. Breathe with me.” All the while, he’s still stroking my hand.

When my breathing gets under control, he leans over the armrest wrapping me in a blanket of calm in the comfort of his arms. I collapse into him. My cries are silent as he holds me and strokes my hair. He inhales deeply, gripping me tighter.

Excerpt for The Right Time by Lane Hayes...
I hadn’t worked out with a professional in years, and it felt foreign to wait for someone else’s direction.
“Any issues with your shoulders or arms? Any injuries I should know about?” he asked, handing me the weights.
“No, I’m good.”
“Great. Start with your palms facing your thighs, lift them both over your chest, then lower the left. Good. And now the right.”
He stood over me diligently, making slight corrections when needed. My supine position gave me an interesting perspective. When I looked up, I noted how his strong brow offset his twinkling eyes. I swallowed uncomfortably and turned my head, only to find myself staring at his crotch. His dark shorts seemed to hint they were covering a generous package.
Holy fuck.
“You doing okay?”
“Uh yeah. Hey, weren’t you going to tell me about your Friday night?” I needed him to talk. I didn’t trust my thoughts anymore, and I was stuck in my current position crazily aware of a man in a way I hadn’t been in over fifteen fucking years. Diversion in any form was welcome.
Alex snorted. “I already told you. I went dancing, and oh yeah, I did get lucky.”
He added the last part with a hearty chuckle, no doubt catching my wide-eyed expression. I hadn’t expected that.
“Oh.”
“You asked.”
“Right.” I did? The strong flash of jealousy took me by surprise, but I pressed on. “Did you go back to the beach to get those girls’ numbers last weekend?”
He looked confused for a second, but a slow cocky grin soon spread across his handsome features as he crouched so his face was close to mine.
“No, I told you they weren’t my type.”
I gulped and watched his eyes lower to my throat. He licked his top lip and reached out to adjust my wrist.
“Lift ’em both at the same time, Nate. That’s it. Push it. Harder.”
I sent up a quick prayer I wasn’t sporting a tent in my shorts. Alex’s voice, touch, and yeah, the unintentional innuendos were making me nuts. And horny. I felt terribly out of my element. I wasn’t sure what we were talking about anymore, but the potent silence made me more uncomfortable than speech. Keep talking, I thought.
“So a dance partner?”
“What? Oh. Yeah, I think so. I can’t remember. It was just one of those things, you know? Sit up. Let’s give your arms a break.”
“Just one of those things?”
“Yeah. One night. No numbers exchanged. No hassle, no fuss.”
I had no words. Literally.
Alex chuckled gleefully as he led the way to a leg machine. He gave instructions and stood back to observe me for a moment.
“It’s not necessarily my favorite kind of sex, but hey….” He shrugged his shoulders with his hands outstretched as if to say “what’s a guy to do?”
I recognized this cue. It was my opportunity to commiserate about the trials and tribulations of being a single man with a healthy sexual appetite. Now was my chance to admit it was nice every once in a while to have sex of the nonsolo variety with someone who knew the score. But I was tongue-tied and equally aware of a completely different undercurrent. One I wasn’t brave enough to explore.
“You can stop having fun at my expense any time.”
Alex squeezed my shoulder and smirked playfully. “You’re easily rattled.”
“How so?”
“You seem like someone who has a place for everything and likes everything in its place. You have a routine, and you don’t appreciate any deviation. I should be flattered you came to the gym with me at the spur of the moment.” He paused, running his tongue over his plump bottom lip. “If you’re not careful, I’m gonna think you like me.”
The air between us crackled. Alex leaned forward so his handsome face was mere inches from mine. His proximity alone seemed to issue a challenge. Daring me to confess I was more than I appeared to be. I doubt he expected any revelations, but his intent was certainly to… how had he put it, rattle me. And damn, it was working.

Release day Review | Fire and Ice by Andrew Grey

Fire and Ice
Carlisle Cops book #2
Andrew Grey
***** Tams 5 star review *****

Carter Schunk is a dedicated police officer with a difficult past and a big heart. When he’s called to a domestic disturbance, he finds a fatally injured woman, and a child, Alex, who is in desperate need of care. Child Services is called, and the last man on earth Carter wants to see walks through the door. Carter had a fling with Donald a year ago and found him as cold as ice since it ended.

Donald (Ice) Ickle has had a hard life he shares with no one, and he’s closed his heart to all. It’s partly to keep himself from getting hurt and partly the way he deals with a job he’s good at, because he does what needs to be done without getting emotionally involved. When he meets Carter again, he maintains his usual distance, but Carter gets under his skin, and against his better judgment, Donald lets Carter guilt him into taking Alex when there isn’t other foster care available. Carter even offers to help care for the boy.

Donald has a past he doesn’t want to discuss with anyone, least of all Carter, who has his own past he’d just as soon keep to himself. But it’s Alex’s secrets that could either pull them together or rip them apart—secrets the boy isn’t able to tell them and yet could be the key to happiness for all of them.

Grab your copy of Fire and Ice today from Dreamspinner Press.

Carter Schunk is a good cop and a computer genius, so he winds up spending more time at his desk than on the streets, much to his dismay. When he finally gets some street time he answers a call for a domestic disturbance, but what he finds in the home deeply disturbs him. A waif of a little boy that has been neglected and abused, told he was bad and forced to live in squaller. The traumatized toddler quickly takes a shine to Carter, who is kind and gentle with him. And then the Ice man walks through the door.

Donald Ickle works for social services. A dark past that he keeps to himself made Donald want to help children that wind up in foster care, like he did. He’s seen a lot in his line of work that would make anyone question their sanity, and he copes by hiding behind a tough exterior. Hence his nick name around the department, Ice. Carter experienced that cold exterior firsthand about a year ago when the two of them met and shared a… rambunctious weekend together. Donald turned that icey personality on full blast for Carter once their weekend was up. But there is nowhere to run to now, Donald and Carter are forced into close quarters again for the sake of the little boy that has them both wrapped around his little finger.

Little Alex is the heart and soul of this story. That little man seriously stole the show! I cried like a baby when he told Carter his name was ‘piece of shit’. I wasn’t kidding when I said he was horribly abused, so be prepared for that. I give Grey some serious props for presenting it in the classiest way possible within the story though. And then there is this twist at the end that made me tear up a little again, I didn’t expect it, very surprising and brilliant.

And while this story may initially present itself as an insta-love story, you have to consider that Carter and Donald have actually known each other for a year, and neither have forgotten the intensely passionate weekend they spent together. Carter knows exactly what he wants, Donald. It will take a lot of convincing, love and attention to get Donald to accept he feels the same way though. He’s terrified to give his heart to another man that will duck and run when he learns the truth about Donald’s past. So Carter has to prove to Donald that he’s in it for the long haul.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I am continually amazed with Grey’s imagination. He constantly comes up with fresh new story ideas to keep his readers entertained and chomping at the bit for the next story. Fire and Ice is a little bit dark and very detailed, descriptive with the storyline. The characters are so perfectly flawed, three dimensional and just real, which gave them depth. I devoured this book in a matter of a few hours. It’s passionate, intense, sexy and endearing. I think this just became my new favorite Andrew Grey book, will definitely be reading this one over, and over again.

I think it goes without saying, but I will, fans of Grey are going to be blown away by this one. If you enjoy a good love story with a bit of grit and grime, a hard fought happy ever after, romance and a sexy alpha male with a protective streak, you’re going to want to grab a copy of this one.

Gay for Pay, an All Cocks story by T.M. Smith ~ Cover Reveal & Giveaway link

Gay for Pay
An All Cocks story

by TM Smith

Tentative release is mid to late June 2015

Christopher Allan Roberts thought he had a promising future. Captain of the football team with the promise of a scholarship to play for Alabama. His high school sweetheart and best friend for as long as he could remember Amanda by his side, and the love and support of his family. One night, one mistake changed everything. Chris moves to New York, adrift and alone. A walk one night brings him to the flashing lights, loud music and thrumming bodies at club Berlin. A flyer in the men’s room promises fame and fortune for anyone willing to go on camera and have sex, with another man. Money is money, and how hard could it be, right?

Linc Larson is All Cocks most requested, most versatile model. The openly bi-sexual gay porn star will do anything with anyone, which pretty much writes his ticket in a versatility charged industry. Lincoln Carter is honest with everyone in his life, including his family, about who he is and about his sexual preferences. It’s not his sexuality that interferes with his personal life though; it’s his inability to trust.

What Linc wants right now, more than anything, is the chance to do a scene with All Cocks newest acquisition, Kris Alen. Six foot two with Auburn hair, an exquisitely toned body and enough ink on his skin to put Crayola out of business, Kris Alen is sex personified. Linc doesn’t know if it’s the “I want the shiny new toy” aspect that calls to him, or the distant and wounded expression that haunts Kris’s eyes. It becomes painfully clear soon enough that Kris is straight and only working the gay for pay angle that All Cocks brings to his bank account.

Can a bi-sexual man with trust issues break down the barriers that Christopher has built around himself and help Kris come to terms with the painful past he is hiding from.

Gay for Pay is a gay for you story about two men that will have to come to terms with the mistakes they made in their past if they want to stick around and have a chance at a future.

Gay for Pay is the first book in a series I'm planning that centers around the particular online gay porn site, All Cocks. I've always been intrigued by the inner workings of the industry, I follow the cockyboys site and their fearless leader, Jake Jackson, closely. They really seem like a family of sorts. So that is what I hope I'm creating with this new series. A group of guys that are drawn together for whatever reason, and become a family.

This first book will focus on the story of Christopher and Linc, but several of the characters you'll learn more about as the series progresses are introduced. Chris and Linc were born from a conversation I had with a couple of gay porn stars at a book convention I attended in 2014. I don't want to give too much away, as I want to keep everyone anxious to grab a copy when the book releases in June. And for anyone attending Rainbow Book Fair in Tampa in July, I'll be there as well with a ton of paperbacks so you can stop by my table, we can visit, and you can grab some goodies!

~ An excerpt from Gay for Pay...

A trip to the bathrooms and Chris learned there really were Glory Holes in men’s rooms. And from the sounds that were leaking out from under the stall next to him, he was certain someone was getting nailed to the wall in there, literally. A loud thud and the wall shook, then a scream and a guttural moan alerted Chris that whoever was in there had found their peak. A cute little thing with long black hair streaked blue, eyes lined black as night fell out of the stall while zipping up his pants, with what could only be described as a grizzly bear following behind him. Chris had to look up at the guy, and that didn’t happen often.

Quickly making his way back to his group of friends smiling, anxious to tell them what just happened, he stopped in his tracks when he saw Linc pushed up against the bar, a big guy with black hair claiming his mouth. Linc wrapped his arms around the guys neck as he pulled the man closer, rutting up against him. Even over the bass of the music and the ringing in Chris’s ears, he could hear the moans Linc was emitting. He thought for a moment that the guy was going to fuck Linc right there up against the bar. He was sort of hard, a little jealous and very confused at those two emotions. He had never been turned on by another guy when he wasn’t in the mindset of Kris while filming a scene. Or out at the house surrounded by all that sex and the job. But right here standing in this loud, dark, smelly bar with half naked bodies writhing all around him, watching Linc climb up the guys body and wrap his legs around his large waist, Chris was turned on.

A military brat born and raised at Ft. Benning Georgia; Smith is an avid reader, reviewer and writer. She now calls Texas home from her small town on the outskirts of the DFW Metroplex. Most days you can find her curled up with her kindle and a good book alongside a glass of something aged and red or a steaming cup of coffee!

At 42 years young, she's decided to enter the next phase of her life by adding the title of "author" to her list of accomplishments that includes single mom of three disturbingly outspoken and decidedly different kids, one of which is Autistic. Smith is and outspoken advocate for Autism and equal rights for the LGBTQ community.

Her Opposites series is based outside the normal parameters of social acceptability, examining a 'what if'... What If to be gay or lesbian were the norm? What if to be straight labeled you as an Opposite and made YOU the Outkast?

The Pinch of the Game Cover Reveal & Giveaway {Pride Promotions}

Being a witch doesn’t mean one can beat the devil forever.

Jeffrey Overton, unemployed IT professional turned poker player, pushes his luck once too often and runs afoul of the host of an illegal card club. The man sent to escort Jeffrey to a “meeting” about his supernatural winning streak arrives at Jeffrey’s crappy North Portland apartment, lock-picking tools in hand and a charm to block Jeffrey’s magick.

Head muscle for said host, Mike Wells, is a Daisy from Daisyville. He isn’t a witch. What he lacks in magickal talent he makes up for in brawn, so he doesn’t expect the guy he’s after to overpower him. But once Mike renders Jeffrey helpless, he’d rather seduce him than bring him in.

Jeffrey and Michael ditch the “meeting” and end up hunting some of the same people they ran from, trying to get Jeffrey back into his own body. And that’s only part of the adventure. The pair travel halfway across the country on the quietest road trip in history and find missing people, empire-building witches, and maybe even the families they’d both thought lost to them.

Excerpt:
If Sal had sent someone after me, a short trip up to Seattle might be a good idea, maybe even BC. That called for some new clothes, so I grabbed my battered gym bag—my quick escape kit—and was almost home free when the kitchen door burst open. It would’ve been dumb to turn off the light when the goomba first went to work on the lock—I can’t see any better in the dark than your average Daisy, not when I’m blocked. Once that massive body filled the doorway, I wished I had. Wished I’d done something.
He hesitated, barely a moment, and I bolted for the front door. He grabbed me before I made it out of the kitchen and pinned both of my arms to my sides. It wouldn’t work, I knew that, but I still tried to burn his hands. All I needed was enough time to—fuck, is he laughing?
“Give it up, pretty boy. You’re blocked.”
The big man pushed me against the wall face-first and pulled both hands behind my back.
“Hey, wait a sec, big guy. Let’s talk about this. I can—”
He pushed me flat against the wall, and the rest of that sentence disappeared in the rush of air he squeezed from my lungs. I couldn’t help being turned on, even though pain and domination usually aren’t my thing. Neither are bears, but underneath the padding he felt nice and solid, leaning full against me. He tightened a plastic zip tie around my wrists with shaking hands. And then he held me there.

Charley Descoteaux has always heard voices. She was relieved to learn they were fictional characters, and started writing when they insisted daydreaming just wasn’t good enough. In exchange, they’ve agreed to let her sleep once in a while. Charley grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area during a drought, and found her true home in the soggy Pacific Northwest. She has survived earthquakes, tornadoes, and floods, but couldn’t make it through one day without stories.
