Her struggles will resonate with teen readers, and the hidden agendas of the school and its students will keep readers guessing up to the final page." - Lyn Miller-Lachmann, author of Rogue

"This unique and compelling novel grabbed me on the first page and wouldn't let go. With unforgettable characters and a story that is by turns heartbreaking, thrilling and uplifting, UNTIL BETH is a must-read.” - Christine Johnson, author of The Gathering Dark

Lisa Amowitz was born in Queens and raised in the wilds of Long Island, New York where she climbed trees, thought small creatures lived under rocks and studied ant hills. And drew. A lot. She is a professor of Graphic Design at her beloved Bronx Community College where she has been tormenting and cajoling students for nearly twenty years. She started writing eleven years ago because she wanted something to illustrate, but somehow, instead ended up writing YA. Probably because her mind is too dark and twisted for small children. Author of the Month @ThiannaDurston | Coming Soon spotlight & Giveaway {TTC AOTM}

Another month has come and gone and it's time to introduce you all to September's Author of the month. This month I'm spotlighting Thianna Durston, MM Romance Author with a side of spice!

Thianna Durston is a writer by day and supernova by night. Or at least that’s what the faeries tell her. And who is she to deny those pesky *cough* lovely little creatures?

She lives in the Pacific Northwest, though her heart belongs elsewhere. In the meantime, until she can return to the place she calls home, she happily lives in a city that still thinks it’s a small town. Thankfully, it has given her muse lots of amusing places to start a story.

You can find her at:

We have come to the last week of the month, and the last post with Thianna Durston. This week the spotlight is on her upcoming releases. Here is a sneak peak at what you can expect from Mrs. D for the next few months.

Tams: Are you attending any signings or CON's in the near future? And what books can we expect to hit the shelves through the end of the year?

I won’t be attending any cons, unfortunately. But here are my upcoming releases. None of them have official blurbs yet, so I put in what I had.

Oct 2015: Delivered to Love, co-written with Jamie Ray. Part of the Corbin’s Bend series.
Danny Lawrence used to have a great life. Until he was outed and his parents kicked him out of the house. As if to add insult to injury, he ends up in an automobile accident in his favorite community, Corbin's Bend, and is laid up in the hospital.

Phillip Scott understands rejection. Recently rejected for his own sexuality and kink, he feels a connection with the younger man instantly. Used to taking in strays, he wants to help Daniel intensely.

While spanking and discipline are important to Phillip, Danny isn't sure what to think about it. Can one administrator and a delivery man come together and make a go of their relationship? Or are they slated to go their separate ways?

Nov: Duty, 2nd in the Drakyl Ranch series
Jeffrey has been drakyl for two months. He enjoys the freedom from the weariness that had begun to come upon him and welcomes the ability to get out of the day and into the night. Cor has steered clear of most people and stayed on the reservation he lived on as a human. He never expects to return to Drakyl Ranch but thoughts of Jeffrey keep calling him back.

Even though they are under constant threat from nearby vampyr, the men of Drakyl Ranch and their partners still manage to enjoy the life they have. Only nothing is easy for the Drakyl cousins. Their enemy attacks again, this time stealing the body of their dead uncle. When they find out the purpose, they realize there are far worse things than being killed.

Nov/Dec: 959 Brenton Street, 1st in the Men of Falcon Pointe series
When Trent Farnsworth moves to Falcon Pointe, he just wants to get as far away from his controlling family and religion as he can. While he cannot imagine admitting he’s gay, he accidentally outs himself in front of his four new roommates. None of the men living at 959 Brenton Street are what the world would consider normal, but all four of them accept Trent just as he is. Falling for his landlord Cory Venerin is a surprise. When he realizes Cory feels the same way, he truly feels he’s at the right place at the right time.

Until his father finds out he’s gay and uses his resources to try and destroy him. Using Trent’s love for Cory against him, Taylor Farnsworth may have found just the right ploy to keep the two apart. With his plan underway, Trent may end up at a hospital whose sole purpose is to rip the gay out of him. Unless Cory can get to him in time.

Dec: Leland’s Final Gift, a Christmas Tale
Kinder Thane lost his life partner three years ago and ever since, has folded into himself. He doesn’t speak to friends and only sees his family once a year. Every year on the anniversary of Leland’s death, he spends his time with the ghost of his dead boyfriend.

When Jessie Riley moves in across the hall, it sends his entire existence into a flurry. Suddenly there’s life out there, happiness, the joy of the holidays, and it’s so shocking he almost doesn’t know what to do with it. It gets to be too much but before he can pull back inside and go back to the way he was, Leland has one last gift for him, one that changes everything.

Coming in 2016:
Drakyl Ranch – the rest of the series dotted out through the year.
Feb/March: Finding His Home, 2nd book in the Men of Falcon Pointe series
Feb: A Little Gin and Tonic, a Valentine’s Tale
Late 2016: 1st book in a brand new multi-author action/suspense romance series.

Up for grabs this week is a $5 Amazon Giftcard. To enter leave a comment for the Author below.
**Remember to leave your email so we can contact you if you're name is chosen. No email, No giftcard, you will forfeit to the next person drawn.**

A huge thank you to Thianna Durston for spending September keeping us busy with Interviews, naughty excerpts and a delicious cupcake recipe. I can't wait to dive into your new books as they release. Thanks to everyone that showed up every week and supported this Author.

October is going to be a blast guys as the Featured Author of the Month is the Queen of Shifter stories and sexy men that carry big guns, Sandrine Gasq-Dion!

Bane (A Strain novel) by @ACGormley virtual tour | Giveaway + Review & Refuge short story { @RiptideBooks | @TTCBooksandmore }

Hi, and welcome to the Bane blog tour!

The weapon that nearly destroyed humanity may be their only salvation.

Rhys Cooper’s unique immunity to all three strains of the virus that nearly annihilated humanity has brought him the unwanted attention of Clean Zone scientists. They’ve summoned him for testing—ostensibly in the hopes of finding a vaccine—but Rhys’s partner, Darius Murrell, has good reason not to trust any government. He and his comrades in Delta Company were unwitting test subjects for Project Juggernaut, the military experiment that gave them superhuman abilities and unleashed the pandemic. Doubting the government’s intentions, Delta Company refuses to let Rhys go alone.

Fear of infection has kept Zach Houtman and his lover Nico Fernández apart for a decade. They meet rarely, just long enough to coordinate their spying on the head of the government’s virus research division. Secretary Littlewood is a vicious predator, and they suspect he’s trying to acquire the strain of the virus that would make him superhuman. To stop him, they need the perfect bait: Rhys.

For Rhys, helping them might cost him his relationship with Darius—or his life. For Zach and Nico, even if their plan succeeds, they still face the ultimate question: can infected and uninfected people ever live together safely?

To purchase your copy of Bane or other books in this series, or by this Author

A note from the Author...

I don’t think it’s any secret that a lot of readers, in the wake of reading Strain, wanted more of Darius and Rhys. Already by that point I was brainstorming the pre- and peri-apocalyptic story that would become Juggernaut, but the further along I got on that, the more I realized the situation Zach and Nico were in couldn’t be resolved in the timeframe of Juggernaut. They needed developments that would only make sense to happen after the events of Strain. The plot also required Rhys to have matured a great deal since the end of Strain. Altogether, it gave me a beautiful opportunity to bring closure and an HEA ending (or at least as close to one as you get at the end of the world) for both sets of protagonists.

Thus we have Bane.

Over the course of the Bane blog tour, I’ll be sharing a free post-Bane short story, Refuge. How far post-Bane? Well, you’ll have to read and see. Some developments that happen in Bane are referenced, but not in any great detail, which means the reader should only encounter a few very broad, non-specific spoilers. Obviously, though, it will be best enjoyed if you’ve read Bane already (and Bane, of course, is best enjoyed after Juggernaut and Strain.)

Refuge introduces us to three new characters, Kal, Billie, and perhaps my favorite, Zeus. It’s a completely sex-free story, so you’re safe reading it at work. If my nebulous thoughts on how to continue the Strain universe ever take shape, it’s very possible a lot of material in this short story will be folded into a larger plot with Kal and Billie as the protagonists, and if that happens, you’ll find the smut there.

Each day, at least one stop on the blog tour will contain a section of the story. These segments may end or begin a little abruptly or clumsily at times, as I tried to split them in such a way that no one section would be to long and cumbersome for a single stop on the blog tour. In its linear form, it would simply be a five chapter story. By the end of the tour, all the sections will have been posted. If you need to catch up, you can check out the blog tour page (linked above), or my website, or the “Extras” tab on the Bane product page at Riptide for sequential links to all the posts.

Bane is the grand finale of the Strain series. The two worlds that were created in Strain and Juggernaut collide with one common goal... to take out Littlewood and McClosky and save one of their own from their twisted machinations. The clean zone scientists have learned that Rhys is immune to all three strains of the virus. What's worse is that the sexual predator and deviant, Littlewood controls the clean zone, and Rhys is exactly the type of victim Littlewood longs for. Rhys and Darius along with their team of Jugs team up with Zach and Nico and devise a trap for Littlewood, using Rhys as bait. But when it backfires they have to scramble to try and uncover the location of Littlewoods lab before Rhys becomes his next victim.

I have really enjoyed all the books in this series. Gormley created a pretty sick and twisted world in the wake of the Juggernaut virus that wiped out the majority of humanity. The survivors have to learn to live together, work together and trust one another or they may wind up dead, or worse, suffering from the Rot. Rhys is probably my favorite character of this series, he's very young and naive when the series starts, and his innocence is shattered in an attempt to save his life. An odd sort of love story bloomed from the violence that ensued in that first book. In Bane, readers will get to see a different side of Rhys, a stronger side, a man that is willing to do anything to save his misfit family and the man he loves. Being so young and innocent and forced to submit to some pretty horific things, Rhys was sort of shy and withdrawn. As time progressed he started to beg for the pain, thinking that that pain made him human. Now his love for Darius has come full circle, for Darius as well, and Rhys learns that what he needs is just Darius.

Nico and Zach have been through the ringer as well, though their journey was not quite as disturbing as Rhys and Darius'. In an effort to protect Zach from what he is, Nico has basically left Zach alone for a decade. Chance meetings and stolen moments over the years are all these two have. Nico is willing to walk away from Zach and their love if it will keep Zach safe and alive. Unfortunately, the decision is taken from them when Zach is exposed.

It was interesting to see how the two different groups had to learn to work together and trust each other if they hoped to find Rhys and then to save Zach. Bonds were formed, friendships and trust grew stronger, but none of those things are enough to combat the Rot. I also really liked the way Gormley wrote each relationship completely different. Rhys and Darius, and Zach and Nico. Each couple is a human/Jug pairing and each couple is vastly different from the other. The one thing they had in common was their passionate, unwavering love for one another.

Definitely a must read in my opinion, but I will warn you, it's a dark dangerous world in the Strain universe. The characters are devious and disturbed at times, the plots are strange and twisted, and the sex is down right raunchy, but addictive!

*Author’s Note: Refuge is completely unedited and un-proofed. What you’re seeing here is essentially a first draft, and like any first draft, it often may be clumsy to read or contain extraneous world-building and info-dumping that would be trimmed and streamlined during the editing process. Actually, I kind of like sharing it with you this way, if for no other reason than to allow readers to see just how much world-building happens behind the scenes and in my head, but doesn’t ever actually make it onto the page.

And of course, there will be typos. Oh so many typos.

Refuge short story day 14...

CHAPTER 5, PART 3

It was the happiest day Billie could remember spending in her life. It was the way she’d hoped to feel, when she’d fled the Clean Zone. Free and full of joy, unafraid of how anyone would treat her.
The weather had turned warm again, which was encouraging if they hoped to make it across the Rockies and Cascades before they were impassible.  In the late afternoon, they found a small lake to camp by, which meant they could bathe better than they had sponging off the night before. She observed Kal covertly as he swam, apparently immune to the chill of the water. Or at least, she tried to be covert, which was stupid because he still managed to catch her at it.
“Go ahead!” he called, flinging his arms wide and turning in a circle in the waist-deep water. “I don’t blame you. I am, after all, a fine specimen.”
That was the point at which she inhaled a mouthful of water and spent the rest of the evening vowing dire recompense if she drowned.
After dark fell, she sat throwing pine needles into the fire while he laid out their blankets.
“Honestly, though,” she asked, her face aching from spending so much of the day smiling. “Are you always this chatty or is this some scheme to lull me into complacency until you deliver me to whatever horrible fate lies in store for me on Wapato Island.”
He chuckled. “No, this is pretty much me all the time. If I didn’t spend half the year off on my own to give them a break, they’d probably exile me.” He dropped down beside her, joining in the game of sacrificing pine needles to the fire gods. “Mom says I take after my namesake. Which is weird, because he died, like, five years before I was born.”
         “Who was he?”
“Mom’s husband. He was another Jug, and he died on the same mission where they rescued Mama.” A shadow crossed his face. “Apparently it messed Mom up for a long time. Mama almost left her, she was so bitter, but she’s better now. Having me helped, and so did having the Refuge as a home. Something to work for. It felt better than always being angry.”
“What about you? Any potential wives waiting for you to stop wandering?”
He smiled and shook his head, gazing into the fire. “Of the prospective candidates, half of them aren’t okay with my being gone for months at a time, and the other half wouldn’t be able to tolerate my talking endlessly for the months I was around.”
She swallowed, looking at him from beneath her lashes. Her heart was thudding at her own boldness as she murmured, “I don’t mind your talking.”
Kal turned his head to give her an assessing look. He traced her lightly stubbled cheek with the back of his knuckles and smiled softly. “That’s some pretty soft peach fuzz there. How old are you?” he asked.
         “I just turned seventeen.”
He sucked on his teeth, shaking his head. “That’s pretty young, by Refuge standards.”
“I’m getting to be too old, as far as the Clean Zone is concerned.”
“You’re not in the Clean Zone anymore,” he said carefully. “You’re at loose ends right now, you’ve got more freedom than you know what to do with, and you’ve had a hell of a few days for you. Where you’re going, there’s not going to be any rush while you figure out how much of what you’re offering is due to those factors, and how much is really what you want.”
Her cheeks burned at the rejection, however gentle. She stared into the fire, muttering. “Maybe I don’t mind a bit of a rush.”
“Then rush with someone who’s not ten years older than you.” His voice was as affectionate as his smile was kind, and he bussed her temple with a kiss. “Come on. Let’s get some sleep.”
She swallowed again against the tightness in her throat. She couldn’t even say why his words made her eyes sting. Was it because it hurt that he didn’t want her, despite his claim that he wasn’t picky about the anatomical trappings of the woman he would eventually settle down with? Or was she just afraid that he was right, and she wouldn’t feel this way once she had her feet under her?
After a long moment, she realized he was still standing behind her shoulder. She looked up to see his hand was extended to help her off the ground.
Sighing in resignation, she took it. And when she did, he hauled her to her feet and placed a light, chaste kiss on her mouth.
“Give it a few years,” he urged quietly. “Then we’ll see if you still don’t mind my chatter.”
Her lips tingling and her eyes wide with surprise, she nodded, and followed him to the warm blankets.

Amelia C. Gormley published her first short story in the school newspaper in the 4thgrade, and since then has suffered the persistent delusion that enabling other people to hear the voices in her head might be a worthwhile endeavor. She’s even convinced her hapless spouse that it could be a lucrative one as well, especially when coupled with her real-life interest in angst, kink, social justice issues, and pretty men.

When her husband and son aren’t interacting with the back of her head as she stares at the computer, they rely on her to feed them, maintain their domicile, and keep some semblance of order in their lives (all very, very bad ideas—they really should know better by now.) She can also be found playing video games and ranting on Tumblr, seeing as how she’s one of those horrid social justice warriors out to destroy free speech, gaming, geek culture, and everything else that’s fun everywhere.

You can find her self-published Impulse trilogy almost anywhere ebooks are sold, and check out her catalog of Riptide Publishing releases at their website.

Anyone who follows along on the tour will qualify to win store credit at Riptide. To enter the drawing, leave a comment on this post including a way to contact you (email, Twitter, or Facebook.) Each stop along the blog tour that you visit offers you another chance to enter. Be sure to check the Riptide blog tour schedule for a complete list of other stops. The contest will close 9/26/15. Any entries made without a way to contact the winner will be invalidated, so please don’t forget to provide your email, or your Twitter or Facebook address.

Good luck, and enjoy Refuge!

Discovering Dalton (Manchester Menage' series book 2) by @NIKKIECOLVILLE | Giveaway + Review & Excerpt { @PridePromos | @TTCBooksandmore }

At fifteen, Troy and Liam were fostered by the same family, and although they hated each other at first, they gradually became solid friends. As adults, the two foster brothers live together. Both experience tough times, each being a rock for the other, but their love had never been anything other than brotherly.

Until they both fall for the same guy, and things get... complicated.

Dalton is fresh out of a ten year marriage. Feeling lost, he concentrates on the only thing he can control—his body. Developing from a chubby, unfit police officer into a lean, mean inked one, Dalton has never looked better, but inside, he's never felt worse. A relationship is far from his thoughts, and one with another man makes Dalton even more confused. He takes time to get to know Troy and Liam separately, but Manchester isn’t that big, and sparks fly when fate throws the three together.

Together, these three fight it out between them. Both Troy and Liam demand Dalton choose between them, but what if he didn't have to choose? What if it could work between three?

The things in life we fight for are never the easiest, but they’re the ones worth holding onto forever.

Liam and Troy are foster brothers, best friends and roommates. The only constant in their lives since they were barely teenagers has been each other. Neither of them have ever had a successful relationship, partly because they keep choosing the wrong guys, but mostly because they make each others dating lives impossible by dissaprooving of any guy the other dates. You see, almost as long as Liam and Troy have known each other, they've loved each other far deeper than just brothers or friends. The problem is, neither is willing to admit that to themselves, much less to the other.

Dalton is an aging, overweight cop in a bad marriage. Intimacy and passion are words that are absent from his dictionary, hence the reason he is going through a divorce. Trying to get his life back on track mentally, physically and emotionally for his personal and work well being, Dalton crosses paths with both Liam and Troy separately and enters into a tentative relationship with both. A tug of war or sorts ensues when the three men realize what is happening. But what if the only way for these three decidedly different men to be happy is with each other, all three together?

After first meeting Dalton in Saving Samuel as a secondary character, Milo's best friend, I was anxious for his story. I really enjoyed seeing how he went from depressed, lonely, overweight and generally just miserable in his life to someone that was happy, passionate, hopeful and caring. He grew by leaps and bounds as the story progressed and it was the most prevalent aspect of this story for me. I'm also a HUGE fan of throuples, especially when the reason they are together is valid. Liam and Troy are miserably, secretly in love with each other but refuse to admit it. When Dalton is unknowingly thrown into the mix, the lions den for lack of a better term, Liam and Troy have to face the reality of possibly no longer existing in the bubble they've created if they don't face their mutual attraction to each other, as well as Dalton.

I also enjoyed the circles that overlapped, all three men completely clueless. You have Dalton and Liam, Dalton and Tony, and Liam and Tony. Each relationship is it's own circle and the three overlap but never meet in the middle. When they finally do, the outcome is unclear for a while. The pace of the story was fantastic, everything slowly revealed at the appropriate time. And though you knew there was a confrontation coming, you didn't know when or how and I thought that was written nicely as well. Mostly, I enjoyed the character development of Dalton as an individual and the three of them as a throuple. The Liam, Troy not sharing their feelings with each other aspect of the story was a stretch for me, but aside from that, I really loved this book.

A kaleidoscope of emotions... Love, passion, angst, fear, anger and anxiety just to name a few, but it's all nicely woven together by the author. I cannot wait for Blue's story! More threesomes!!!

Excerpt:

Liam chatted with Milo, but Dalton was too busy trying to stop hyperventilating and not staring at Liam’s body, seeing it as he last saw it—wet and tense, excited and looking sinful in that shower cubicle. Those types of thoughts weren’t going to help him calm down. Why oh why did that have to happen?
Blue leaned in, calming strokes running up and down Dalton’s back, sweetly spoken words whispered against his neck, and Dalton’s tension eased a little. “Is he an ex or something?”
“No,” Dalton choked out.
“Oh, I just thought there was some history there.” Blue’s glossy red lips curled into a smile.
“There’s no history of that kind.”
“But there is some to speak about?” Blue opened his green eyes wider and nodded. “It’s obvious. Maybe it’s time you resolved this tension between the two of you somehow.”
“What?” Dalton stiffened.
“Well, there's obviously something happening between you two.”
“Yeah, but not what you think.”
Blue bit his lip while he thought. “Hmm, there’s a few different things going on from where I'm sitting.” He nudged his thigh against Dalton’s dick, and for the first time, he realised he was excited. “Or is this for me?”
Dalton truly had no idea. He was confused by his own body, not understanding why he was reacting at all. But it had happened in the showers while he watched Liam. Maybe it was those moments replaying in his mind which caused his cock to stiffen in his jeans.
Maybe it was the fact he had someone sitting on him, caring about him, someone with long legs and big heels, who was wearing make-up and who was confusing Dalton’s body by being more feminine than he was used to in a man. But then, Dalton was close to Samuel. He was beautiful and more feminine than Blue and this had never happened, and hadn't Samuel been sitting on his knee earlier? Maybe he was losing his mind. Maybe he’d already lost it.
“I don’t… I really don’t know,” he whispered into Blue’s hair. “I just… I have to go.”
“Wait, sexy.” Blue pressed his body more into his, meeting his eyes, those black lashes coated thickly in mascara. “Don’t run off just yet. There’s no need.”
“I'm not gay,” Dalton rushed out as low as he could make his voice, darting his gaze to Liam, his tight V-necked vest showing off those big muscles, jeans encasing his firm arse, that bottle hanging in between his lips.
This time, when Blue rubbed his thigh over his cock, Dalton grabbed Blue’s slender calf running up his leg and just held it, not moving him away but not pulling him closer—just frozen, not knowing what to do.
“You don’t have to label yourself with anything, Dalton.” Blue took hold of his chin, fingertips gently caressing his skin and making Dalton shift his gaze from Liam back to him. “I think…” He eased closer still, his thigh now pressed against the rigid length encased in Dalton’s jeans. “If your body needs something, it lets you know. If your eyes find something pleasing, they look more. If your heart beats faster for someone, then you follow it. I'm not gay. I'm a person. A human being. That’s the label I want to be tagged with. Hashtag Human.” He clicked his fingers with a bright smile.
Dalton smiled through his fear and understood what Blue was saying. He just wasn’t ready to think the same way. “That’s nice.”
“It’s the truth. The truth is always a good thing. I always think our brains confuse us. They have all this bullshit ‘learned’ behaviour which they pick up over the years and it tells you to think one way, your body saying another. It takes time for those two to work together and come to some sort of an agreement, but we all get there eventually. Just don’t pressure yourself, hon.” Blue leaned in, kissing the corner of his mouth, Dalton’s cock now crushed against his thigh. “Of course, I would like to think this is for me, but I know better.” Blue pulled back with a heavy sigh. “If you change your mind though…” He winked with a chuckle.
“Blue.” Samuel was beside them, looking between them both. “Dalton’s a bit…” He drifted off, worrying his bottom lip with his teeth, obviously not wanting to spill too much personal info about Dalton’s bad day and emotional state.
“Confused, sweetie?” Blue offered brightly.
“Yeah.” Samuel looked to the sky, then took hold of Blue’s hand. “You go get some air, Dalton.”

Who's more dangerous – a stripper, an assassin, or a serial killer?

The Stripper Ripper is stalking the streets of New York City, preying on male strippers, and the press is making mincemeat of a helpless police force.

In desperation, the police refer the serial killer's case to the Slayers, a team of enhanced, undercover super soldiers. The commander of the Slayers puts his team on the streets to watch over the Ripper's favorite targets.

One of these targets is Micah, a twink stripper and a desirable sub. Micah's baby sitter is one of the newest members of the Slayers, Sorren, as cold-blooded an assassin as they come, and the last person you'd expect to harbor feelings for his charge.

True to form, Sorren is as surprised as anyone at his new infatuation, but Micah is hiding something. Will Micah learn to trust his protector, or is he destined to be the next victim on the Stripper Ripper's list?

Chapter 1

Club Surrender, New York

As the commander of the Slayers, Delano Briggs had his hands full controlling a unit of nano-enhanced super soldiers in a constant state of pissed. He leaned back in his office chair, glaring at the brooding form of Sorren, and cleared his throat. The six-seven hunk of muscle-bound “don’t fuck with me nasty” stared right back, unblinking.

Although Sorren had accepted his new duties without question and his professionalism was faultless, he couldn’t put a finger on the underlying uneasiness he had for him. The stripper named Snake from the leather club, Pinkies, had been under Sorren’s surveillance for ten days and nothing had occurred. The man standing before him folded thick arms across his broad chest and glared at him with intimidating menace. He would have to come down heavy to keep this alpha with cybernetic enhancements in line. “Report.”

Sorren placed both large hands on the table and pushed a long straight nose one inch from Delano’s face.

“How long do you expect me to remain sane on butterfly duty?”

“I said report, soldier.” Delano pushed to his feet then noticed Rhys, his second in command, move into the room and take a defensive stance.

Sure, Sorren was a loose cannon, but then nobody walked away from capture by Middle Eastern extremists without repercussions. His captors had not been able to brainwash him or retrieve any information by torture. His nanos had kept his secrets safe and his body in peak condition, but Sorren was suffering from three years of pent-up crazy. The nano enhancements did that to a man left alone with only his palm for company. Delano lifted his chin and repeated the order. To his relief, Sorren straightened and narrowed his unusual blue gaze.

“Nothing to report. The butterfly does his act then goes home. Guys hang around him looking for a little action but as far as I can tell, he isn’t interested. Although, he is a nervous little shit. On stage, the club bills him as Snake but his friends call him Micah, which fits him but it’s not the name you gave me. I think he is hiding his past.” He jerked a thumb over one shoulder toward Rhys.

“Tell your boy to stand down unless he wants me to drag his ass downstairs to my dungeon.” He smirked. “I need a heavy scene, sending me to watch strippers every night makes me overheat – ah, sir.”

“I don’t do switch play and if I did you’re certainly not my type.” Rhys grabbed Sorren’s arm and spun him around to face him. “Why don’t you go and fuck your butterfly, then you won’t be loitering outside his apartment with a hard-on all night.”

Sorren’s wide mouth twitched at one corner then curled into a sadistic smile.

“Have you seen my five-feet-two eyes of blue?” He grasped his package. “I’d break him in half. Nah, you’ll do just fine, but just so you don’t get your panties in a twist later, you should know, I don’t do cool-down cuddles.”

“I’m bonded to Dylan and you fucking know it, but if you wanna fight, I’d be happy to grind your face into the floor anytime. Here we fight by Slayer rules, which, as you are the new kid in town, means no rules, asshole.”

Before Delano blinked, Sorren had locked one hand around Rhys’s throat.

“I like no rules just fine. Do I get to fuck you when I win?”

In a flash, Rhys cupped Sorren’s balls in his bionic hand and the color drained from the new recruit’s face.

“Wanna play?” Rhys grinned in a flash of perfect white teeth.

Delano rounded the table. Both these men could take him apart before taking their next breath and Rhys could crush an Mk.16 in one hand without taking a breath. “Stand down.” He moved closer and, standing shoulders braced and feet apart, dropped his voice to a menacing whisper, a method he employed to get his men’s full attention. “Rhys have you lost your fucking mind?”

“Nah, just teaching pretty boy here how we play in my yard.” Rhys dropped his hand and wiped it on his jeans in a repulsed gesture. “I can’t believe you trust him to guard the strippers, he’s not safe on the outside without a leash.”

“Sit down, both of you.” Delano leaned one hip on his desk and glared at them. “We run a club and the strippers who work here are good for business. These murders are bringing all strip joints under scrutiny and I’m sure you both understand why we don’t want eyes on Club Surrender. It would put the entire unit in danger. The cops have zip on the Stripper Ripper, no DNA, no witnesses, so we’ll have to find him and deal out justice, Slayer style.” He glared at Sorren. “This means surveillance and I’ve assigned a man to every local stripper that fits the victims’ profile.” He glanced at Rhys.

“Small, young looking, with dark hair. From the images we were able to intercept from the local PD database it would seem the Stripper Ripper has a taste for twinks.”

Rhys grimaced. “Fuck, that covers fifty percent of the guys who work here and Jay but somehow I don’t think the fucking Stripper Ripper will be a problem for him.” He chuckled. “I guess we could throw him out as bait?”
