Soul Struck (The Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge book #3) by @JacobZFlores blog tour | Giveaway + Review & Guest Post - Element - Water

Like the electricity he commands, Pierce Blackmoor streaks through life on raw power and pure sexual energy. His conquests on the battlefield and in the bedroom form his foundation, but that bedrock crumbles when his younger brothers’ abilities surpass his own. Pierce finds himself at an all-time low, and clawing his way back to the top becomes his only concern.

Pierce's plan to reassert his dominance, however, takes a backseat when he wounds Kale Aquilo, an emissary of the Beast King, lord of all shifters.

Kale’s beguiling nature shoots like a lightning bolt straight to Pierce’s soul, and when the soft-spoken Kale relays that a virus is killing his people, Pierce abandons his quest for power to do something he has never done before—protect someone other than himself.

As Kale, Pierce, and his brothers struggle to find the root of the magical virus spreading plague across Aeaea, the shifter island, they face a gauntlet of old and new foes. Soul struck, Pierce and Kale must uncover the truth behind the conspiracy gathering in the shadows.

Pierce Blackmoor is the eldest son, the next High Priest of their coven, a protector coven. So when his younger brothers surpass his abilities and overshadow him, Pierce doesn't respond well. The brooding warlock has always tried to live up to the expectations of what a warlock is, he is brash, arrogant, domineering and stubborn to a fault. He has yet to figure out that a little calm and self control will allow him to fully understand his currently unstable powers. Well, that, and meeting his soul mate.

Kale Aquilo is a dove shifter who, much like Pierce, has spent his life trying to live up to his family legacy. The difference is, Kale isn't just plain pissed off at the world most of the time like Pierce. When the two meet there is an instant connection, and while it seems Kale recognizes what it is, it takes Pierce a little longer. What the warlock can't deny is how just being in Kale's presence calms him, comforts him, gives him clarity and focus. With Ben still on the loose, the Blackmoors and the other protector covens are leaving no stone un-turned trying to find where Ben is hiding, trying to decipher what his big plan is. Kale may be the key to finding Ben, and so much more.

This is my favorite of the series thus far. I liked how Flores took the usually un-likeable Pierce and gave him depth and meaning, gave him reasoning for his attitude and demeanor. And Kale was just a breath of fresh air, so innocent and naive and yet, brilliant. I have always thought that there is one person out there for everyone so I'm a sucker for soul mate stories. But you have to give them depth and reality to make them believable, and Flores definitely did that with Soul Struck. There is also that old saying, the eyes are the window to the soul, there was a nod to that in the story as well.

There is probably a little something for everyone in this book, this series as a whole. It's fast paced, action packed and thrilling. But it is also passionate, sexy and very alluring. There are witches, warlocks, covens, vampires, fae and shifters. I'm certain by the time the series ends we will have a representative from every supernatural being present. This book in particular though had a level of intimacy and reality that was very endearing. I will say this, these aren't stand alone stories, you must read the series in order.

The Magical Elements—Water

Hi, everyone! I’m Jacob Z. Flores, and I’m super thrilled to be here at Tammy’s blog, and I want to thank her for generously allowing me to appear here today. Thank you so much! <3

So why did Tammy let me sully her blog with my presence today? Well, I’m here to promote my recent release Soul Struck, the third book in my Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge series. This series stars three magical brothers, Mason, Thad, and Pierce, who have unearthed a dark conspiracy that threatens their world and the magical community. So far, Mason and Thad have each had the chance to narrate their own books. On their search to unravel the mystery and the people responsible, each brother has found love as well as brought us one step closer to finding answers. In this third book, Pierce, the eldest brother, assumes the role of main character as he not only meets the young man who changes his life but also brings the first story arc of this series to a close.

Now that you have a little bit of background on the series, I’d like to discuss magic, which is obviously the cornerstone of this world.

The Warlock Brothers of Havenbridge is set in a world where magic exists and is powered by the five magical elements—earth, fire, air, water, and spirit. Over the past couple of months, I have been writing about the meaning of each element. To see what I have written about earth, fire, and air, click here, here, and here.

For today, I’m going to discuss the fourth magical element—water.

Water is a necessary element not only for life on this planet but for the regeneration of our bodies and souls. Like earth, water is an element of creation, but unlike earth, water has no limitations. In fact, it is considered to hold mastery over earth, air, and fire. Water cuts paths through the earth, rises into the sky to form clouds, and extinguishes the flame.

Water removes all that is stagnant. It represents fertility, healing, and emotional release. It is a receptive force that contains the essence of love. Magic connected to water is tied to the heart of the caster. The greater the love held in the heart of the caster, the more powerful the magic at his or her disposal.

Those who tap into the element of water are emotional, spiritual, sensitive, and highly intuitive. They tap into their heart not their mind. They can also be extremely spontaneous and are often pacifists. However, their pacifist nature should never be considered a weakness. Those who tap into the element of water are powered by love, and love is often considered the most powerful force in the universe.

Jacob Z. Flores lives a double life. During the day, he is a respected college English professor and mid-level administrator. At night and during his summer vacation, he loosens the tie and tosses aside the trendy sports coat to write man on man fiction, where the hard ass assessor of freshmen level composition turns his attention to the firm posteriors and other rigid appendages of the characters in his fictional world.

Summers in Provincetown, Massachusetts, provide Jacob with inspiration for his fiction. The abundance of barely clothed man flesh and daily debauchery stimulates his personal muse.

When he isn’t stroking the keyboard, Jacob spends time with his daughter. They both represent a bright blue blip in an otherwise predominantly red swath in south Texas.
