Locked (Telluric Realm book 1) by @anytasunday | Cats 5 Star Review #fantasy #paranormalromance #lgbt

A curse threatens the Winter Kingdom.

A brother is turned to ice.

A rebel uprising is on the horizon.

Marble-maker Rye Cunnings is at the center of it all—and doesn’t know it.

He doesn’t know he’s the lost summer prince. Doesn’t know his blood can unlock Winter’s curse. Doesn’t know why the marbles he makes flutter with magic. All he thinks is that he’s crazy. That he sees things others don’t, like dragons and strange markings on his skin.

But when a dark dragon snatches away Rye’s only friend Milo, he is forced to face the crazy in his life and figure out a way to bring Milo back.

Help comes in the form of Cerdic Leit, a warrior who finds Rye to take him “home” to the Telluric Realm and their kind. All Rye has to do is follow him into Gatreau, the gateway to the four Telluric kingdoms, and all his questions will be answered.

In the hopes of saving Milo, Rye steps into this new and dangerous world. A world where he learns of the Tellurics and their Hansian foes. A world that is swept up in a bitter battle of justice and hate.

And a world that won’t let Rye leave again.

Cat gives this one 5 Purrs with 1 Meow heat index...

Rye is a Marble maker that has nightmares that leave him waking up in a cemetery in a bed of daisies with bloody gouges on his wrist. His Marbles seem to hold a touch of magic and he has strange markings on his body that glow. His nightmares about dragons become reality when his best nd only friend Milo gets swept up by one and whisked away. A strange man appears taking him to a kingdom  where his dreams become reality. The only way out is to earn a realm key.

Cerdic is a dragon shifter warrior sent to bring back the stolen summer Prince to unlock the curse the Summer king put on The Winter Royals. Anyone they kiss will turn to Ice. They rumor is  only true love will unlock the curse, but The Summer Prince can as well though it will probably kill him to do so.  After spending time with Rye, Cerdic is no longer sure he can deliver him to Prince Drake...even to save his brother.

I usually don't read much Fantasy but I love Anyta Sunday and this cover and blurb really got my attention. I am so glad I chose it. One of the reasons I don't usually choose this genre is the worlds and names are usually so hard to pronounce and it slows down my pace. However, In Locked everything is simple enough yet still intriguing.
Locked is like a cross between fairy tales and adventures (think Lord of the Rings) with a cross between a modern and regency setting.

There are many twists, I sat on the edge of my seat many times nearly holding my breath to see what happened next. This is the first book in a series, but it has a complete ending though it does lead us into another story. I cannot wait to see what's next.

If you like lost princes, fairy tales, action, adventure, magic, dragon shifters, and just a slight touch of romance I highly recommend this book

A note from the Author...

Fantasy.
The dragons and magical kind, with shifting points-of-view, good and bad (and ambivalent) guys, and dollops of slow-burning romance! And a map, too! :P (see below)

This story sprang from an idea planted by the lovely Mandy at the UK Meet two years ago and it's since grown from planned short story to full length trilogy. Locked is book one (book two is in planning stages with a hopeful end-of-year release). It's a biggish book too. Close to 100K words.

I really enjoyed getting into the fantastical Telluric realm and have also crafted a companion website! to explore some of the concepts of the book in more detail. ;) Check it out!

Release date is the scheduled due date of my baby boy: 26th of April, 2016 and is up for pre-order on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Locked-Telluric...
(Let's see which comes first, lol. I'm hoping baby!)

The awesome cover is done by the wonderful Natasha Snow!

And the map is done by Maria Gandolfo (Renflowergrapx)!

A born and raised New Zealander from Wellington, I’ve been exploring the literary world since I started reading Roald Dahl as a kid. Stories have been piling up in my head ever since. Fast forward to my mid-twenties and jump a few countries (Germany, America, and back again), I started to put them to paper. My genre of choice is romance, both adult and YA, gay and straight. You can take a closer look at my books, available as e-books for download in many formats! When I’m not pushing my characters deeper into adventure, I chase my son around the house and fight my two comical cats for the desk chair. Since 2014, I’m also part of CritShop Literary Services, specializing in writing workshops and editorial services for LGBT fiction.
