June Author of the Month @taylorlawbooks | Wrong Way (Shenandoah Pack book 2) Author Q&A part I & #giveaway #TTCAOTM #happyreleaseday

Happy Release Day Taylor Law! Today is the official release of Wrong Turn, Shenandoah pack series book #2...

Leading The Shenandoah pack consumes most of Thomas Collowell's time. The Alpha's job is never done. That had never been more true than when a killer targeting shifters strikes too close to home. He doesn't have time to deal with a mate, especially a human.

There is nothing Camdon Williams wouldn't do for his best friend, which is why he was the best man in Jessie's joining ceremony. While in Skyline Village, he gets more than he bargained for, including a strange attraction to the Sheriff.

When Camdon and Thomas are forced to work together to stop the killer, Camdon's eyes are opened to a world he wouldn't have believed existed. They both learn that there is no such thing as perfect timing. Sometimes, it's about taking a chance... before it's too late.

Where are you from, and where do you call home?
I’m originally from northern New Jersey, but I’ve lived in Florida for most of my life. However, I am moving back up north, to New York State, this July. My sister and her family live there. A new adventure. I’m excited.

What inspired you to start writing?
I don’t even know, honestly. I always was the “weird girl.” I used to create stories with my dolls. Or when we’d go out to play – at the time there was a lot of wooded areas in my town – I would create a story. “So you guys are American Indians, and I am a time traveler from outer space…” It was always how I was. Then I started writing things on paper once I could write. I wrote poetry, songs, stories—anything that came to mind.

How long have you been writing?
A long time. I think I was 6 or 7. I remember performing my first written song when I was 7 at my church at the time. I didn’t show anyone my stories until way later. I think it was almost ten years ago now, I showed an acquaintance of mine who was the admin of a writing/reading forum. She had convinced me that I was selfish for keeping my stories to myself. So I tore my fingernails to shreds, biting them, and sent a short to her. She put me on the website as a writer, and that was the beginning. I learned so very much once people started critiquing my writing. I can’t believe how far I’ve come from then, and I can never thank her enough for pushing me.

What advice would you give a new writer just starting out?
When your first draft is done, you are not done at all. There will be a ton of rewrites for your first few books. Get a good editor and listen to them. They want to help you get better and usually they know how and what sells. Learn as much as you possibly can. Read like crazy, both fiction and non-fiction. Become friends with authors who have been published for a while; ask them questions and listen to their advice. Networking is almost as important as your book, because you can’t do this alone. Be very careful of what you say on social media and in person. Once you are published, you are a business and are being watched. Be kind. I’ve heard more readers than I can count say that they would never read so and so because they said something rude or they were not nice.

Gay Romance and Crime Author, Taylor Law is a northern born, southern girl, with a free spirit. Taylor has lived in the southern United States most of her life, along with her huge Italian family. She started writing at a very young age; her first poem at six, her first song at seven, and stories followed directly after. She hasn’t stopped since.

She started with Barbie worlds that took over her room for days on end, standing on the kitchen table and singing randomness that eventually turned into songs, and making up endings to her favorite stories. It was no surprise to anyone when she started writing them all down. The surprise came, however, when she turned to writing LGBTQ romance and fiction. Now, some of her family regularly read her books and ask for more, and her books have hit several distributor bestseller lists in their genres, which is more than she could have ever hoped for.

Taylor has a paralegal degree, but she also went to college for Music, Theatrical Arts, and Criminal Justice. She worked as a contract and civil litigation paralegal for fifteen years before publishing her stories. She loves to learn new things. She also enjoys history, an eclectic array of music, puzzles, her friends and family, and laughing. Taylor would much rather read than watch television any day.

A romantic clear to her soul, Taylor continues to believe the elusive ‘Happily Ever After.’ She lives in Florida where it rains regularly – yes, the sunshine state is a myth. On any given day, you can usually catch her with a book in her hand or creating something.

  1. Congrats on being June author-of-the-month. Thanks for the interview and contest!

I used to love to create stories when I was a kid, too, and act them out either with my friends or my toys. I had a whole soap opera going on with my Breyer horses. ;-)

    1. Yep, sounds familiar, Jen. LOL! I remember using those old strawberry containers that was shaped like a green plastic basket, and stringing yarn through it to create an elevator. Because their apartment was on the top floor of my dresser, of course. :P Good luck.

  4. Very nice qualification of Taylor is mentioned here. Her degree on paralegal is nice but her knowledge on music, art and theatre is also making her very expert. Chinese tutor Singapore also helps to gather such kind of knowledge.
