Rain and Whiskey I believe is one of this author's earlier works brought back by another publisher. It is categorized as Erotic Romance, but I feel it is pure erotica. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad story. I liked the characters both Galen and Shane, but I found myself skimming looking for the story, hoping it would come soon as things were hinted at. What little story came was near the very end. 

Again I state, I love this author, and the story isn't bad,.If pure erotica and page after page of hot, explicit and rough sex is your thing you will love this. I think it is a set up for a series and we get a good look at Galen and Shane and their relationship. The blurb at the end and chapter for the next book has me waiting. I do hope there is a bit less sex, though. 

If you like bartenders, cowboys, ex-football players, lust at first sight, a bit of rough sex, and lots and lots of explicit man-sex this is for you.

Sex as Communication

Hey y’all! I’m BA Tortuga, resident redneck and lover of all things cowboy and blue-collar.

Once upon a time I sat down to write a short story. Something short and hot, a quick rub off against the side of a pick up. You know – hard, pounding, sex on a stick, OMG do me now need.

That is, long tory short, how Rain and Whiskey started. The problem is, the boys wanted more. A single one night stand turned into a relationship, turned into a love affair, turned into two men that adore each other. They have angst and storms on the beach and lizards in the bathroom.

They also Galen and Shane have sex. A lot of sex.

I’m serious.

Lots. Varied, constant sex.

Rain and Whiskey was my first best-seller. They also turned into the first pair of characters I wrote (but not the last) that communicate almost solely through sex. Galen is a deeply wounded man who uses bondage as a way to test trust, uses blowjobs to makes apologies, and when he’s feeling vulnerable, the first thing he attacks is Shane’s fidelity.

Shane, on the other hand, doesn’t know how to tell anyone what he needs – sexually or otherwise – and he has to learn how to take what he needs from Galen. He honestly believes he has nothing to offer but his body. What he finds out is that he can heal Galen given enough patience and love, and that Galen can offer him a real place in the world.

Three books and a novella later, Galen and Shane still talk to me all the time. Especially when Tim McGraw is on the radio. In fact, I might have been convinced to write a spin off where you’ll see them again. Maybe. In a year or two.

A note from Tams: So, Cat and I did a dual read of this one, but I left my review off initially because of a lot of the reasons she already listed in her review above. After reading the guest post that this amazing Author sent over, I decided to include a footnote with my thoughts. Tortuga is one of the best Author's in the genre in my opinion. I love her knowledge of the male specimen and the various ways she conveys love, sex and emotion when writing her stories. This book in particular transcended any MM genre that I know of and went directly to a screenplay for what I'm certain would be a top notch gay porn site for Tortuga, should she choose to open one. I to loved these two characters and the Texas drawl that dripped off of every word, comment and filthy glare. It just read like a porn scene script with love, emotions and good intentions peppered in every dozen pages or so. That being said, I still adore this Author and will continue to read her works. And thank her immensely for stopping by our blog today!
