Ribban Bookmark is one of life`s failures. Born in Manchester, UK during the late 1950`s to Irish immigrants. 
He realized early on in life that his ladder to success was missing most of its rungs. 

A misfit with a heart of gold, if he only knew where God lived he would urinate in his letterbox...& most probably call back later to clean up the mess!

Then one day after 56 years of circling the literary worlds perimeter fence, like a dog looking for somewhere to relieve himself,
he stopped one night in August 2014. 

"A Minger`s Tale-Beginnings" was the result of that nights urination.

A Note From the Author... 

Writing a book had always been a dream I´d had since childhood, a dream that took almost sixty years to realize.

There were times during the book I believed I´d bitten off more than I could chew once the doubts began to set in. 

Fortunatley I have always been a stubborn SOB. The first signs were evident during my birth, my mother would always I was stubborn even while she was in labour!

I´m often asked what genre A Minger`s Tale Beginnings is. Whether it be a memoir, biography, fiction or everything in between, and to be honest it is not a question I readily have a straight forward answer to. You see in my naivety at the time such mundane thoughts as these never entered my mind - I just wanted to write a book.

A book is what you want it to be, like the old horse to water addage.
A writer can drive readers towards his work but he can´t make them read it.

What I am trying to say is my book falls through the catagory net...it is neither one or the other.

So ladies and gentleman may I present A Minger`s Tale-Beginnings, the worlds first Genre Bender Noir.

It was a family tragedy in 2014 that marked my return to writing. ..the irony being my very first self-published book was a comedy. Comedy is a tragic business and life is, as they say strange. 

Born and raised in the Northern city of Manchester, England, my background is working class and I tend to find humour in hardship and the way folk overcome the obstacles that life has thrown at them. 

Upon leaving school at 16 I entered into a society rocked by poverty, unemployment, rising crime, and riots. Much of my inspiration when writing, is drawn from my own experiences during this period.

I have penned a number of short stories and articles, some of which have been published.

I never wanted to be a writer - my boyhood dream was to have been a Northern Spiderman, but instead, my debut book disturbed cobwebs of another kind. 

A Minger`s Tale - Beginnings despite its tragic birth is a humour filled celebration of what man achieve in times of hardship, and so it feels fantastic it has received the following among readers that it has.

A follow up to the first book is in the pipeline, which I hope it will be ready for release later next year.
