From the Dreamspinner Press 2018 Advent Calendar (Warmest Wishes) Barbies and Beaches by Asta idonea | Cat's Review & #giveaway @Dreamspinners @NickiJMarkus @TTCBooksandmore

Celebrating the end-of-year holidays doesn't always mean sleighs, snow, and snuggling to ward off the cold. How about making merry when it's just as warm (or hot) outside as inside romantic hearts? Twinkle lights in palm trees, unity cups on the sideboard, bonfires in the backyard, eggnog by the pool, and no chimneys to be found... just the warmest wishes of the holidays bringing lovers together around the world.
A huge part of the world celebrates end-of-the-year holidays that aren't anything like Bing Crosby's "White Christmas." In the southern hemisphere, it's not even winter!
Holiday reading fun! More than 400,000 words of romantic fiction in 31 stories that would sell individually for a total of $89.69.
Grab your copy today from Dreamspinner Press!

Shane isn't looking forward to Mattie's boxing day party. Every since his divorce, the guys just seem to pity him and not treat him the same so he decides to go grab some food, make and appearance and slip out.

Mattie's cousin Neil is visiting on the heels of a bad breakup and not happy to be there. But then he meets Shane and they sneak off to the beach.

I have to admit when i read this title I had an entirely different idea of what the story might be. Like a kid with Barbie dolls or something involved. I was pleasantly surprised with the Australian setting, the language and the two very different men. It was a very entertaining holiday story.

Day and Knight are still having issues with their relationship. Knight is still having a hard time letting go of is past and day doesn't want to hide or just be a bed warmer when they are on missions.Day puts his argument on hold when he finds his brother may be missing and decides to go looking for him. Things take a big twist when they find out that things are not what they seemed at all and Knight and day find themselves in danger once again.

I absolutely love this series. To me it is like a gay Miami vice. I love both characters and there was some cool and also evil ones in this book. I think this one was my favorite in the series so far ( i think i say that each book LOL) I also loved Stephen and hope he too gets is own books.

The story line is extremely fast paced, page-turning, nail biting and twisty. You wont want to stop once you start.  the sex is hot too!

Andrew McFerrin does a great job with action adventure books. He is great at the pacing and the characters are distinguishable. though I haven't read the books I thin the narration probably adds a lot and I recommend it.

Action, Adventure, Lust and Love. Dirk is very much an outside kind of man. He loves travel and seeing new things. Dirk worked in corporate America for way too long and now spends his days writing, gardening, and taking care of the home he shares with his partner of more than two decades. He has a Masters Degree and all the other accessories that go with a corporate job. But he is most proud of the stories he tells and the life he's built. Dirk lives in Pennsylvania in a century old home and is blessed with an amazing circle of friends. You can contact him at: dirkgreyson@comcast.net

I am the first to admit I rarely read a book twice or listen to a book I read. Fireballs is such a fun flirty book that I just had to listen to! Especially with a narrator like Nick J Russo.

Roman is a sought after painter. Rod is a shy man that hides his heart thinking he isn't good enough for the man of his dreams. His best friend Jerry sees Hunter and also likes him. but Jerry is a surfer dude that wants Rod's help to get hunter. So being the guy he is Rod never tells Jerry his feelings and helps.

This is such a fun, flirty story. I loved all the characters in this book and the series is great too.

Nick J. Russo gives each character a unique voice and I laughed at Jerry's surfer voice with all the added dudes and slang. He gives the story emotion and keeps you intrigued trough each hour and wanting more.

I hope you enjoy this book and series as much as I do and I highly recommend it.

A Camp H.O.W.L. novel.

Once in a blue moon, opposites find they’re a perfect match.

He doesn’t expect to fall in lust with the dreamy new camp doctor, Drew Welch. Happy-go-lucky Drew may not sprout claws, but he’s been part of the were community all his life. He has no trouble fitting in at the camp - except for Nick’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge the growing attraction between them and his ridiculous stance on dating humans.

This is book two in Camp H.O.W.L. and is best to read in order.

Drew isn't a werewolf but has grown up part of the were community. He is coming to camp H.O.W.L. as a doctor and Nick is the new counselor.

This is also a Dreamspun beyond which is like a Dreamspun Desire so it is tropetastic, and a good fluffy romance as well. There are lots of good characters, lots of action and some good man-sex.

Dorian Bane brings the story to life with his voice, and pacing. Dorian also is great with emotions always making a good story even better.

Real, relatable romance.
Bru Baker has been writing for Dreamspinner Press since December 2012. She believes in Happily Ever Afters, but she almost always makes her characters work to get there. She and her husband live in the Midwest with their two young children, whose antics make finding time to write difficult but never let life get boring.

  • Bullets rip the air, snapping past Clay Barlow’s head as, riding Blue, he charges a band of robbers surrounding the Austin stagecoach. Clay lets loose with a load of buckshot from his 12-gauge Roper Repeating Shotgun. With his third blast, the robbers turn tail and race off into the Texas hill country, leaving one of their own dying in the hot Texas dust.

At 18, Clay has been invited to join the Texas Rangers. Now, he rides to Austin to either put on the Rangers’ badge or fight for the law in Texas courts, fulfilling his parents' wish that he become an attorney. Whether he protects Texas on the range or in the courtroom, his quick and deadly six-guns will not be stilled. Join Clay as his path takes him from brawls to blizzards to gunfights. The only question remaining is, will he survive to choose between law and justice?

Cat gives this one 5 Meows for performance, 4 Meows for the story...

This is the first book I have read by Donald L Robertson but wont be my last. I loved this story. It had a good old-west feel.

Clay Barlow is eighteen and riding to Austin as robbers attack the stage. He is invited to join the Rangers but has to meet with his Grandfather who is wanting him to join the family business in law.

I really enjoyed this story. there was a lot of action and it was like watching a western on TV. there was a spot  where he went with the Irishmen to study law then suddenly he was back a couple years later and it felt like a gap in the story. but the rest of the story picked up  and it was interesting.

Scott Miller is also a first time narrator for me. I loved is western sounding voice. It fit the story well and the characterization is good, pacing good and I will be adding hi to favorite narrators.

Now I need to listen to book one and do suggest you listen in order as I felt at the beginning I missed something too.

Donald L. Robertson is a writer of novels and short stories about the American West. His first novel, Logan's Word, is set in West Texas near Coleman, where he graduated from high school. Robertson strives to make his books as historically accurate as possible.

He was born in Louisiana but grew up in Texas and New Mexico. Throughout his life, he has lived in many parts of Texas and has a love of the West.

Professionally, he enjoyed the life of a pilot, flying throughout the West, enjoying his last ten years of flying while living in Arizona. His travels gave him the opportunity to learn about, and fall in love with, the country about which he would later write.

As a boy, he spent many Saturdays at the movie matinees. He reveled in all of the western adventures, especially those of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and Lash LaRue.

As a youngster, he shared his passion for reading westerns with one of his loving aunts who had a huge library of western novels. This is where he came to love the books of Zane Grey and the short stories and books of Louis L'Amour. The influence of these authors color Robertson's novels, assuring that they are wholesome and adventurous, filled with action and good values which can be enjoyed by any member of the family.

He began his writing in Cotacachi, a little mountain village nestled between two dormant volcanoes in Ecuador. Due to health reasons, a move from the high mountains of the Andes was necessary. Don, his sweet wife Paula, and their six pound Chihuahua guard dog have moved back to the beautiful Sonoran Desert. Today Don lives and writes in Mesa, Arizona.

Strays and Lovers by John Inman | Cat's Release day Review, Excerpt & #giveaway @Dreamspinners @TTCBooksandmore

Forty-six-year-old Eddie Hightower has a problem. He’s all alone. The only thing that saves him from facing that stark reality is the fact that he isn’t really alone at all. He has a house full of pets and a refuge full of stray unwanted animals he spends every waking hour trying to place in homes. While he loves what he does with all the joy in his heart, that same poor aging heart is still missing something. And Eddie knows exactly what it is. Romance.

But wait. Cue the music. Suddenly, beyond all hope, it happens. In the small desert town of Spangle, California, where Eddie lives, comes a sad young stranger with piercing gray eyes. They are the palest, most stunningly beautiful eyes Eddie has ever seen. Poor Eddie Hightower is swallowed up in their silver depths and disappears without a gurgle. The stranger’s name is Gray Grissom. Gray, like his eyes. Without hesitation Eddie opens his doors—and his heart—to the lost young man. After all, that’s what Eddie does. He finds homes for strays. But this is one stray Eddie intends to keep for himself.

Cat gives this one 4 Meows with a 3 Purr heat index...

Eddie is in his late forties. He is surrounded by his pets and refuge animals. He stays busy, but is getting lonely for human company.

Gray has a lot of secrets and is very standoffish. He too is lonely but has trust issues. Meeting Eddie and his animals makes him want more but breaking out of his shell is hard.

I loved both Eddie and Gray. I especially loved Eddie. I relate to older characters and pet lovers are a plus.
The storyline is good, and the animals are like characters in their own right.

Strays and Lovers is a cute book, unique job, and makes an enjoyable read. If you like large age gaps, animals, sweet romance, and some hot man-sex with a very sweet end this is for you.

Excerpt...

Chapter One

EDDIE HIGHTOWER stared into the bathroom mirror. He placed his fingertips at his temples, just below two arrowheads of receding hairline, and pulled everything backward and up. Gratifyingly, his crow’s-feet disappeared, and his cheekbones popped into view.
“Cool,” he said.
Of course now he looked Chinese, which was no bad thing in and of itself. But with a name like Hightower, it would seem genetically improbable.
While keeping the crow’s-feet ironed out, he applied pressure to both sides of his neck below the ears with his thumbs, dragging the flesh on his neck back toward his spinal column, smoothing out the wrinkles on his throat and tightening his jowls.
“Ooh,” he said admiringly. “Twenty years younger.” He blithely ignored the lump of extraneous flesh now pooched up on the nape of his neck like a tumor and the fact that his eyeballs were flattened out to a point of being all but useless.
He studied his image from three different angles before emitting a less than ecstatic snarl.
Releasing the grip on his face and neck, he watched with disdain as everything dribbled back to its normal state of laxity. And there he was. Forty-six-year old Eddie Hightower again. Not bad looking, he supposed, but certainly not in his prime.
“Hmm,” he said, continuing to eye himself with resigned acceptance. His brown hair was definitely thinning. Nothing to do about that. Damned if he was going to sport a comb-over. His eyes were still blue, and he didn’t need glasses yet, so that was a plus. His back was still straight and his teeth were still good. He still had a hairy chest and his belly was reasonably flat. No complaints there. His sex drive was still in high gear, although it ran mostly on idle these days—something he was none too happy about. And last but not least, he had kept the same thirty-two-inch waistline he had in his twenties, thanks to all the running around he did at the refuge, tending his flock of lost souls, which is how he sometimes thought of the unfortunate animals in his care.
Lately he had begun to think of himself that way too. Another lost soul. One more unwanted pussycat.
That thought caused Eddie to cough up a reluctant laugh as he studied his reflection one last time. Yep, old Eddie Hightower was a little like a pound of bologna, creeping up on its expiration date as it sat unspoken for on the deli shelf, all semblance of freshness dwindling, the edges beginning to curl, the reek of corruption starting to leak through the dusty packaging.
Eddie sniffed his furry armpit to test his theory. Yep. Corruption indeed.
He stared down at the gray-and-white tabby sitting in the sink in front of him, watching every move he made. The cat’s name was Leonardo DeCatrio, or Leo for short. Was it Eddie’s imagination, or did Leo look vaguely appalled?
“What do you think, Leo? Do I stink? Be honest.”
“Meow,” said Leo.
“Don’t hold back. Tell me how you feel.”
“Meow,” Leo said again, with a little more fervency this time, as in “I said it once. How many times do I have to repeat myself?”
That sounded like an emphatic yes to Eddie, so he dropped the towel from around his waist, stepped naked into the shower stall, and drew the curtain. After dancing around and bellowing at the top of his voice for a minute while the shower spray went from arctic to subtropical, Eddie began energetically sudsing himself down from top to bottom with a washcloth and a bar of Ivory soap. He dutifully tended to all the jiggly parts in the middle with extra care.
The jiggly unused parts in the middle, he sadly mused.
