Dare to Hope

Can admiration and friendship build a foundation strong enough to protect three hearts?

Micah Solo can relate to unbearable loss, having lost his leg and so much more in Iraq. The past two years he has been alone, adrift and vulnerable — the memories of war haunting his dreams, spilling over into his daily life. At All Cocks, Micah has found the acceptance he craves and the family he lost, but still he yearns for happiness and peace within.

Gabriel (Gabe) Simenson is still mourning his lover’s death. The random act of violence that took Gio’s life has left everyone at All Cocks reeling. The only thing keeping Gabe from drowning in misery is the friendship he’s forged with Micah, the newest model at All Cocks.

Tristan Brennan is the second oldest of the Brennan brothers and the odd man out. Most of the Brennan men have careers in law enforcement, but as a psychiatrist, Tristan chooses to help people in a different way. Quiet and restrained, he is content to hover in the background of his more gregarious brothers. Then he meets two men, each broken and damaged from losses beyond their control, and everything changes.

The friendship between the three is instant, the mutual attraction evident. They circle each other, wanting more, yet unsure if it is truly possible. Is life the mundane reality they’ve each come to accept for themselves or do they dare to hope?

*Trigger Warning* Micah’s PTSD is told in detail, including flashbacks to his time in Iraq.

Live for Love

Can one man’s determination and strength be enough to tear down a wall that holds back decades of pain and darkness?

Beauregard Boudreaux is a native of New Orleans Louisiana that never thought he would stray far from home. The untimely death of his first love left Beau lost, adrift, looking for a place as far away from the pain as possible. Initially, he came to New York to visit a friend, the city growing on him, so he decided to stay. His law degree comes in handy at the LGBTQ Center he runs, but his bar is his baby.

William Richards grew up in Chicago, his family oddly normal and very accepting of his sexuality. He hasn’t experienced loss or pain as Beau has, the common denominator between them is loneliness. The two men are perfect for each other, their tastes and lives align and the writing seems to be on the wall. But Beau has a secret he shares with a choice few, a secret that not only threatens to keep them apart, it’s deadly.

Resolved to keep a wall between himself and William, Beau fights the attraction, pushes the man away every time he steps closer. But William is determined to break down Beau’s defenses and

Best Laid Plans by Erin Hawkins Book tour with Cat's Review @EJBookPromos @TTCBooksandmore #ontour #kindleunlimited

Title: Best Laid Plans
Author: Erin Hawkins
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Comedy
Release Date: September 21, 2020

A hot doc’s one-night-stand turns into something more in this sexy romantic comedy

I’ve never been a planner. Thinking things through isn’t my strong suit. I’m more of a wing it and see how it goes kind of girl.

I eat pie for breakfast and I don’t have the best track record for committing to things, the exception being where my family is concerned.

So, when my identical twin learns she can’t get pregnant, I’m determined to help. Even if it means stretchy pants and a sex hiatus. But, before my waistline disappears, along with my sex life, I set out in search for a night of no-strings-attached sex.

It all seemed so simple, until…

I have the best sex of my life!

The fertility hormones put my libido into overdrive!

I run into my one-night stand at the fertility clinic…

Yeah, the sexy doctor I went home with is that kind of a doctor. His skillful hands know every part of a woman’s body. When I see him in his white lab coat, my body knows what it wants. More of him. But just until these hormones get under control. Sounds like a good plan, right?

Cat gives this 3 Meows with a 4 purr heat index...

After several failed  attempts at IVF and not being able to afford a surrogate,  Brooke offers to Be a surrogate to her twin sister.  She decides to go out on a one night stand before having to give up sex.  She meets a sexy doctor that rocks her world but she tried her best to avoid him but seems to keep running into him.

Cole doesn’t have time for dating. He barely has time for hookups but when he met Brooke there was a connection but he couldn’t figure out why she kept running. He was determined to find out her secret.

So. This story has a lot of premise. The plot is good. Cole is amazing.  My only issue is the first 60 percent was sex.  The sex was hot. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind sex as long as it doesn’t overshadow the story.

Now. If this is down as erotic romance please forgive me because that changes things and makes more sex important.

The end is very good and quite a twist!

By the time Wednesday rolls around, I’m exhausted from restless nights and reoccurring sex dreams about Cole. My work days have been mostly filled with client meetings with Sue at the helm, and my focus tends to drift to a continuous loop of daydreams where his hard, sweaty body thrusts on top of me and his dirty words fill my ear. I’m pretty sure I’m worse off now in the pent-up sexual frustration department than I was before I slept with him on Saturday night.

For once, I’m actually excited to put on a paper gown and have a stranger insert a speculum into my vagina. I’m hoping this appointment will refocus my attention onto the task at hand, helping Ellie and Josh to start a family.

The one thing I didn’t expect was to have such fantastic sex that now I’m going to have to wait nine months to do it again. I think I might die.

Ellie’s fertility specialist is located in a medical complex near downtown. When I enter the building, I find Ellie waiting in the lobby for me.

She threads her arm through mine and gives me a squeeze. “You are amazing for doing this. What would I do without you?”

She’s smiling, but I think she knows she might have less craziness in her life without me.

“How are you feeling? You’re sure about this, right? I want you to be absolutely sure—I’d die if something like this came between us.” Ellie has been texting, calling, asking this all week. Almost as if she’s not sure now. Well, I’m almost sure—no, I’m sure. Damn Cole.

I don’t mention my lack of sleep, my out of control libido or the fact that the chocolate chip cookie I ate for breakfast is making my stomach ache. My body’s not exactly a ringing endorsement for you to put your baby inside me.

“I’m great!” My smile is a picture of enthusiasm.

Best Laid Plans is Erin Hawkins's debut novel. She lives in Colorado with her husband and three young children. When not writing, she enjoys reading, running, spending time in the mountains, and watching reality TV.

Forget Me Not by Felice Stevens Release blitz with Cat's Review @EJBooksPromos @FeliceStevens1 @TTCBooksandmore

Title: Forget Me Not
Author: Felice Stevens
Genre: MM Romance (Cowboy)
Release Date: November 24, 2020

Texas cowboy Shea Montgomery has plans. Big plans. Still mourning the loss of his beloved father, he’s ready to sell the Forget Me Not ranch. He’s finally dusting off his boots, packing up his cowboy hat, and moving to New York City. Maybe he won’t have his horse to ride or a place to call home, but he’s taking his modeling career to the next level and making his dreams come true. First, though, he has to deal with a bunch of corporate types who don’t know the front end of a horse from the back.

Especially this one guy who can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

Or out of Shea’s mind.

Jake Axelrod’s perfect family is shattered when his daughter stops speaking and his husband ends their marriage. Two years later, she remains locked in silence and Jake has closed himself off. His life is structured to the minute, and Jake is convinced he’ll be alone forever, until he’s forced to attend a company retreat at a dude ranch in Texas where he meets a cowboy who sends him spinning out of control.

Jake can’t help falling…off his horse, out of a rowboat, and into Shea’s arms.

And Shea is more than willing to catch him.

Neither man wants to let go, and the time they spend together—whether in New York City or Texas—only makes it harder to be apart. A decision needs to be made: work it out or say good-bye. Jake’s life is in New York, but he can’t walk away from Shea or the ranch, and Shea must decide if the dream of a lifetime will lead him right back to the place where he started, where his heart belongs.

Cat gives this 5 meows and 3 purrs...

Shea is a troubled young man. He is grieving the loss of his father and trying to decide to try to take his modeling career to another step or sell the ranch. He always wanted to live in New York. He does some modeling out of Dallas between work on the ranch.

They have a corporate party coming to the ranch. One of the men arrived too late for dinner so since he’s going to the bar anyhow he offers the man to go. He saw a photo of a little girl and assumes he is straight and married but they become friends.

Jake is a busy man with a reputation at work as the ace man. It’s his job to hire, fire, and keep policies running smoothly. He also has a little girl with selective mutism that hasn’t spoke in two years. He didn’t want to go to this ranch but then he didn’t want to leave.

This story is so good. You have two broken men with very different problems. Felice Stevens books always Seem so realistic they sweep you up into such an emotional roller coaster ride. I loved little Stacey and my heart went out to her hoping all the time what happened to make her this way Wasn’t too monstrous. Jake on the ranch was kinda funny.

The story is one of love, family, second chance at life, cute kids, cute animals and plenty of hot man-sex.

Felice Stevens has always been a romantic at heart. She believes that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending just around the corner. Her characters have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy, and that includes love.
She lives in New York City and has way too much black in her wardrobe yet can't stop buying "just one more pair" of black pants. Felice is a happily addicted Bravo and Say Yes to the Dress addict and proud of it. And let's not get started on House Hunters. Her dream day starts out with iced coffee and ends with Prosecco, because...why shouldn't it? You can find her procrastinating on FB in her reader group, Felice's Breakfast Club.

Their Dark Reflections by Amanda Meuwissen Blog tour with Cat's Review, Excerpt & #giveaway @GayBookPromo @MissSuperCube @TTCBooksandmore

Everyone has a second face.

Personal assistant Sam Coleman can do it all: housekeeping, groundskeeping, bookkeeping. The catch? It’s a con.

Ed Simon, his newest millionaire boss, doesn’t know Sam Goldman is a Robin Hood for hire who targets rich jerks. Sure, Sam keeps the money for himself, his crew, and his real employers, but at least they only steal from bad people.

Until sweet, fumbling Ed, who doesn’t seem to have a single vice. Too bad the people who hired Sam won’t let him back out. They want Ed’s money, and they’ll hurt Sam and his friends to get it.

For years Ed has kept people at arm’s length, but Sam’s charms wear down his defenses—just as he learns their budding relationship was an act. Sam isn’t who Ed thought he was, but Ed has a dark secret too: he’s a vampire. And someone is framing him for a series of bloody murders.

When the real villains force their hand, Sam and Ed must choose: work together, trust each other, and give in to the feelings growing between them… or let what might have been bleed out like the victims piling at their feet.

Cat gives this 5 Meows with a 1 purr heat rating...

Sam is sort of a modern day Robin Hood except he only steals from bad people but does it for hire. He and his gang of three are very good at what they do.

When hired to steal from Ed he can’t find anything bad about him. Really the opposite. Ed is interesting and charming and fun to be around. Until he finds out Ed is a vampire. Then Ed has to decide what to do with Sam and who is after him.

This is a cute story with great characters. It’s a mystery with a few twists. There is a lot of murder and I almost cried at the end. I’ll be watching for more books from this author!

  Excerpt

Sam was exhausted, probably because he hadn’t slept well in the past two days, but when he was ready to call it a night and looked around for Ed, he was surprised to find him outside, already in the pool. Sam was usually gone before Ed took his swims.

The tricked-out radio by the patio doors was blasting loud enough to carry outside, playing Blue Oyster Cult and making Sam smile. He didn’t fear the reaper so much himself anymore either.

Ed wasn’t doing any complicated strokes, just floating serenely on his back, arms gently moving to keep him up while he gazed at the stars beginning to glitter above him. He’d left the doors open as if to invite Sam to watch, so it was easy to do so without calling much attention to himself.

Ed didn’t look like a predator while swimming, his trunks clinging to him, chest bare. Sometimes it was hard for Sam to accept that dissonance—this version of Ed compared to the swift, brutal one—but then, wasn’t a lion capable of seeming like a housecat even if it was always dangerous?

“Would you like to join me?” Ed called without turning to look at him. “I have an extra suit upstairs.”

Sam wondered if that made him the lion tamer.

Enjoying the way Ed’s eyes fixed to his mostly bare body when he descended from upstairs in the spare trunks, Sam took his time walking to the edge of the pool, set his clothes on one of the lounge chairs, and stepped off for a simple, smooth drop into the water. He shook the excess from his hair and face when he resurfaced, seeking out Ed at the other end.

“Tell me,” Sam said, lifting up to float lazily on his back, “even without your telescope, how many of those can you name?”

“The stars? Or constellations?” Ed lifted as well, both watching the sky as they orbited each other.

“Does it matter?”

“No. I can name most of them.”

“Then where am I?”

Ed navigated to drift up beside Sam, tracing over invisible lines in the sky. “Gemini. Sort of like two stick figures holdings hands.”

Sam chuckled. “And you?”

“Pisces is there.” Ed dragged his finger the other direction. “See the way the ends connect and then it makes a sort of tilted V?”

“Doesn’t really look like a fish.”

“We had to be more creative back then.”

Blinking as what Ed was implying sunk in, Sam righted himself, not sure if he could ask, “You mean…?”

“I’m not that old.” Ed grinned. He didn’t clarify how old he was, however.

“You know, one of these days, I’m going to get you up on that roof to use your telescope properly.”

Ed scrunched his nose. “I wasn’t lying about not caring for heights.”

“I figured. Any particular reason?”

“I don’t know. Maybe because there weren’t as many tall buildings in my time.”

“Which was…?” Sam tried again, but Ed glanced away.

“Is this our first date?”

“If it was, would you tell me?”

“I said my age wasn’t a first date reveal, so….”

Sam read Ed’s hesitancy and didn’t want to push. “I don’t think this counts.” He smirked when Ed looked at him with a start. “We need to leave the house for a real date.”

“We’ll have to start thinking about our rain check, then.” Ed smiled back at him.

Drifting closer, Sam slid his hands around Ed’s waist to finally connect and pull him in. Even in the heated pool, Ed’s skin felt bracing. “I guess we will,” he said and started to lean forward.

“Sam.” Ed wrapped his arms around Sam’s neck, but his hands fidgeted, and he held back from letting Sam reach his lips. “You’re not only pretending because you think this is the only way to be safe from me, are you?”

“What?”

The idea that Ed still expected treachery surprised him, but then, Sam almost had betrayed him again, scared as he’d been. Ed was the most powerful and deadly creature he’d ever met, but he was still vulnerable, still so human.

“According to you,” Sam said, “I’m putting myself in more danger by being with you. You gave me an out, Eddie, and I chose to stay.”

“I’ll walk you home,” Jeff said, not ready for his night to end.

Mika’s gaze trailed past him. Jeff followed it to Tiny’s Panini a few stores down. When he turned back, Mika’s expression said it all. Why would you walk me home when your apartment’s right there?

“It’ll help me unwind.” It was true enough. “Plus, I’m tough. I can keep you safe from the hoodlums and the muggers and the serial killers.”

Mika mock gasped, a gloved hand flying to his chest. “All of that on the streets of Lighthouse Bay?” He made a show of looking around a quiet Main Street.

Behind Jeff, a couple exited Annie’s. Other than that, it was all quiet but for the sound of muted conversation coming from the pub, and the crunch of footsteps on the snow-packed sidewalk as the couple made their way down the street toward the clock tower. With the green and red spotlights on it, and the white string lights climbing up lampposts, and the multicolored lights outlining shop windows, it was almost too small-town picturesque to be real.

And there wasn’t a hoodlum, mugger, or serial killer in sight.

“It’s a miracle I’ve managed to survive on these crime-ridden streets for so long. Thank God I have a big, strong man like you to protect me.” Mika threaded his arm through Jeff’s and jaywalked them across the street.

Chuckling, Jeff let Mika take his arm back when they turned off Main and into the quiet neighborhood.

He’d had fun tonight. The last time he’d had that kind of fun was years ago, when Leo had visited him in New York and he’d taken a seldom-used vacation week to play tourist with his brother. But more than that, he liked Mika. Fuck, he was so glad he’d gotten his head out of his ass concerning Mika sooner rather than later. Had he still been wallowing in self-pity over the damaged Nomad and treating Mika like he was enemy number one, he never would’ve been privy to Mika’s sass and sarcasm.

And for reasons that made no sense, he was especially fond of Mika’s sass and sarcasm. The man was charming without even trying; that Mika was letting him see beyond the charm was like being accepted into a whole different world. One where Mika didn’t hide behind the plastic smile Jeff hated.

“Thanks for inviting me to join you guys. That’s the most fun I’ve had in a long time.”

Mika stepped on a small clump of snow on the sidewalk. “No trivia nights in New York?”

“Maybe. But I work long hours. I don’t spend a lot of time in pubs.”

“What do you do for fun then?”

“Work.”

Mika just stared at him.

“And, um . . .” Christ, what did he do for fun? “I jog.”

Mika’s gaze didn’t waver.

“I mentor a handful of students from NYU’s business school. Oh, I’m also on the Board of Trustees for the University of Pennsylvania. My alma mater.”

Now Mika was frowning as he guided them left at a stop sign onto a sleepy street with lighted decorations on every other front lawn. “Fun is tied into work for you?”

“I love what I do.”

“So do I, but I still need time off to get away from it and recharge.”

Wasn’t that what Jeff was doing with his yearly month-long December holidays? Sure, he worked while on vacation, but at reduced hours.

It counted.

“Once I went bowling,” he blurted into the Christmas-light-speckled darkness. “Took my kids when they visited last.”

Stopping right in the middle of the sidewalk, Mika stared at him, blinking once, twice. “Bowling.”

“Yeah. We had pizza and everything.”

Mika cracked up. The sound bounced around the quiet neighborhood, echoing off brick and concrete, and settled into Jeff’s chest like it was meant to be there. Rubbing a hand over his sternum, he couldn’t do anything but smile back at Mika.

“We played three games. I lost all of them, but don’t tell my staff that.”

That made Mika laugh some more, so bright and cheerful it drew Jeff’s gaze to his face. His head was tilted back, mouth open wide, creasing his cheeks and the nose Jeff still wanted to kiss. What would Mika do if Jeff gave in to temptation and did so? Just a little tiny peck on the end of his nose? Would he jump back in surprise? Stare wide-eyed? Sputter and trip over himself? Grab Jeff by the collar and kiss him for real?
