Tammys' Review of MORE (An MMF Romance) by Avril Ashton @GayBookPromo @AvrilAsh @TTCBooksandmore

An established couple looking for fun, no strings attached. A lawyer who entices them into wanting so much more.

Once isn’t enough…

He met them under the stars and spent a sweat-slicked night in their bed. Then Daryl King saw nothing of Anton Fedorov and Sylvie Roché for an entire year. He’s back now, lawyer to an infamous criminal and forced into close proximity with the couple he hasn’t forgotten. He can’t afford to want them. But he does.

There are rules.

Lovers can come but never stay. Anton and Sylvie have had no issues keeping others at arms’ length. But Dar isn’t just anyone. There are layers to the straight-laced lawyer, carefully hidden behind his pressed khakis and calm demeanor. He’s irresistible, but they try just the same. It’s inevitable that they give in.

But there are rules.

And this trio keeps breaking them. Feelings weren’t part of the deal. Neither was commitment. But faced with the prospect of losing Dar, Anton and Sylvie will have to take a chance… on something MORE.

MORE is an MMF standalone featuring an established couple with an anything goes motto, the khakis-wearing lawyer hiding a kinky side who tempts them to want more than the physical, and enough heat to melt your face off. Also includes familiar faces and an HEA.

Tammy gives this one 5 stars... This book is part of the Run This Town series, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything by not having read those books. The synopsis is what drew me to this story, my intrigue with working throuples, and I was not disappointed.

Sylvie and Anton are committed to each other and their relationship. A little fun on the side is meant to be just that, fun, but let's not forget about those pesky rules. When they meet a man that challenges those rules, their expectations of themselves and what they think makes their relationship work; will they continue to play by those rules? Or consider that there could be something, someone, so much... more.

I would absolutely love a more in depth, longer story for this sexy threesome. I feel like, having not read the other books in this series, that this book may have been written for fans of said series to give them some more meat on the bones of these two characters (Slyvie and Anton). I liked that Ashton included some of their past in the story, how they met, what they've been through. My favorite line in the book is Sylvie to Anton, referring to Dar... "We can want him, but we can't need him." And that is such an explantionary line within the working threads of their life. Like I stated previously, Dar challenges their rules and expectations, but he also makes them feel things I don't think either of them even thought was possible.

Now, um, the sex in this story is off the fucking chain y'all! Right out of the gate as well, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. I follow the Author on social media and I've seen her post in the past that she always dreads writing the sex scenes. Well, I'll tell you what, you wouldn't know it from that fantastic first chapter. But that's not all it's about, so don't get me wrong. There's love, longing and legacy to be enjoyed in this story.

Obviously, if you're a fan of the Author and/or series this is a must read. But if you like sexy, sizzling, menage stories, then this should be added to your list.

A Grenadian transplant, Award-winning author, Avril Ashton, now lives in Tucker, GA, with a madly tolerant husband. Together they raise a daughter who’s pretty meh about reading and school. Avril’s earliest memories of reading revolve around discussing plot points of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys with an equally book-minded mother.

Always in love with the written word, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Av remains a believer of love in all its forms.

To date, Avril’s books have hit Amazon’s Top 100, Top 10, and Top 5 Bestseller’s lists countless times.  She’s also been nominated for numerous awards, including Best AuthorBest series (Brooklyn Sinners), and Favorite All-Time Author. In 2013 Avril won Evernight Publishing’s Reader’s Choice Award for the LGBT (Male/Male) category. Recently she took home the Golden Ankh award for best Male/Male romance for her bestselling novel, Sinner’s Fall

Cat's Review of Something Wicked by Author of the Month Eden Winters @EdenWinters1 @TTCBooksandmore #giveaway #mmpnrromance

Howdy y'all, our last post this month for our amazing Author of the Month, Eden Winters, is Cat's review of her hot new release, Something Wicked.

Be sure that you scroll through the blog posts, or search by the Author's name, and leave a comment on every post for extra entries in the giveaway for a chance to win an eBook or Audio book of your choice from the Author's backlist!

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Something Wicked is available from Amazon US Amazon UK and free with KU.

A mysterious legacy. A magical journey. The worst guide in history!

Piers Adams never knew his parents or birthplace. All he wants from his mundane life is a better apartment and fewer working hours serving drinks at a club in Asheville, North Carolina. Sure, weirdness happens around him occasionally. Coincidences, right? He can’t possibly wish things into existence. After all, he’s only human.

Maybe.

It’s hard living down to a nickname like Wicked, but Prince Wycke Bertillian of the magical realm tries. He enjoys his lack of responsibilities until he’s coerced into a clandestine mission: find an evil sorceress’s hidden son in the human realm.

A chance encounter awakens magical potential beyond what either realm has seen before. Barely managing his own life doesn’t qualify Wycke to guide a novice sorcerer with infinite magic and zero self-preservation skills. Unfortunately, it’s Wycke or nothing standing between Piers and those who’d take Piers’ magic for themselves—magic powerful enough to rule two realms.

Piers and Wycke had better get their act together. Their lives and the fate of the human and magical worlds rests in their highly incompetent hands.

Cat gives this book 5 Meows with a 2 purr heat index...

Wicke likes giving people a reason to use his nickname, Wicked. Afterall, he has worked hard to earn it. Now his sister talks him into a mission to find the son of an evil sorceress that’s hidden in the human realm. Wicke doesn’t expect what he finds.

Piers has no idea he has magical powers. Now he has to trust a man that claims to be a prince from another realm to save him.

I loved this book. The characters are amazing, the story full of action and tons of twists and there is nail biting suspense. I couldn’t put it down. If you love magic, familiars, feisty friends, stubborn sisters, action, suspense, humor and lots of twists... this book is for you.

You will know Eden Winters by her distinctive white plumage and exuberant cry of “Hey, y’all!” in a Southern US drawl so thick it renders even the simplest of words unrecognizable. Watch out, she hugs!

Driven by insatiable curiosity, she possibly holds the world’s record for curriculum changes to the point that she’s never quite earned a degree but is a force to be reckoned with at Trivial Pursuit.

She’s trudged down hallways with police detectives, learned to disarm knife-wielding bad guys, and witnessed the correct way to blow doors off buildings. Her e-mail contains various snippets of forensic wisdom, such as “What would a dead body left in a Mexican drug tunnel look like after six months?” In the process of her adventures, she has written over twenty-five gay romance novels, lost count of shorter works, has won Rainbow Awards, was a Lambda Awards Finalist, and lives in terror of authorities showing up at her door to question her Internet searches.

When not putting characters in dangerous situations she’s hanging out at the farm with her many pets, being a mother, grandmother, vegetarian, or supporting children’s charities as a Star Wars cosplayer.

Her natural habitats are coffee shops, her office, and on the back of a motorcycle.

Hidden Affairs by Gwen Parks Book tour Spotlight with Cat's Review @EJBookPromos @TTCBooksandmore

Title: Hidden Affairs
Author: Gwen Parks
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: April 8, 2022
Cover Design: Lori Jackson

Amazon Review - “I recommend this book; it is a hard one to put down.”

Details.
They’re what every good detective needs to solve the mysteries of the darkest crimes.
I’m a details guy. I see all the little things that make up the bigger picture.
Give me a puzzle and there’s nothing I can’t solve.
Until her.
She’s thrilling, mysterious.
Captivating.
Suddenly she’s everywhere. She’s filling all the free space in my head and lining my veins with something so addictive I can’t get enough.
Falling for her is like quicksand.
She’s become one puzzle I can’t solve. So many secrets and promises she can’t contain them any longer. But will she share them with me?
All I saw was the bigger picture with her and this details guys missed what was there all along until it was too late.
We spend time together, but do I really know who Wilder is? Will she ever reveal herself to me?
And if she does, will I be ready for it?

Cat gives this book 3 Meows with a 1 purr heat index...
(most sex is off page or alluded to, also, this review contains a slight spoiler)

This book starts out in Jackson’s past as a child, then years later switches to his police partner Thorne. Thorne has been on the police force 7 years and is getting burned out when a big case comes that changes every one’s lives. He meets a mysterious woman that just appears. He becomes enamored but the case keeps getting deeper.

Wilder is a beautiful mysterious woman that has lots of secrets. Some that will shatter the town, if she can figure how to get the monster caught.

This book has a good backbone, the story and plot is pretty good and the characters are all interesting. My issue lies with how it all unfolds and some of the outcome. I really think the outcome needed to be harsher as there were several murders. Also Nothing is mentioned in Wilders' parts in the murders, even though she didn’t commit them and to me her part was unbelievable. Ok I’m going to say it… how can she transport bodies to be found with no transportation? Plus, we had all these murders and other than the first body all were just called she or body, never any names. I think I’d like to have seen more of the actual investigation and learned a bit more of how Wilder was getting around.

I just think some things could have been better worked out and this could have been 5 meows. I will say, I’m anxious to see Jackson’s actual story.

Gwen Parks writes compelling romance stories that make the hero and heroine a little desperate. She enjoys reading angsty romances in her spare time and listening to her carefully curated playlists. Second chance romance is her favorite trope to read. She loves when the hero fights for his leading lady and having the heroine a little headstrong. She loves spending her summers in the sun and out playing with her three dogs.

Walks With Spirits - Edale Lane

Edale Lane has a new FF historical romance out: Walks With Spirits. And there's a giveaway!

Bound by love, separated by circumstances; can two women realize their happy ending?

In a time when people believed everything had a spirit, there was a two-spirit woman who chose the life of a hunter. Human beings live in the physical world, while spirits dwell in the land beyond; Walks with Spirits inhabits both.

Daughter of a shaman and an herbalist-midwife, Laughing Brook holds a prominent place in her society. She is training to be a healer like her mother, but her one wish is to spend her life with Walks with Spirits.

When a misunderstanding crushes their dreams of happiness, both women must learn to face the trials that await them in a land where danger lurks behind every tree and honor means more than life. Will the spirits intervene on their behalf, or are they fated never to manifest their visions of love?

Walks with Spirits is a historical fantasy set in an ancient time. Packed with Native American themes, heart-touching imagery, and an epic love story, Walks with Spirits will immerse you in an inspiring view of life.

My Favorite Movies

Asking me to pick only ten movies from all time was a tall order indeed! I realize none of them are LGBTQ themed films, but I am an action junkie and I like happy endings. Fantasy and Syfy movies top my “go to” lists along with historical epics and anything with sword fights and beating the bad guys. I like a little romance along with my action when I can get it. To aid in compiling this impossible list, I have divided it into categories and chose my favorite of many favorites (and yes, there’s a tie) for each, and culminated with The Best of the Best. So with no further ado, here they are.

1.     Comedy—Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Witty, ridiculous, and surprisingly garnished with historical accuracy, I can laugh at this one again and again.

2.     Musical—The Sound of Music. As a musician, I love so many musicals, but it is hard to beat the breathtaking Alps, Julie Andrews, and a real-life romance while standing up to the Nazis. Climb Every Mountain was my theme song as a kid and I stand by it almost 60 years later.

3.     Classic Film—Ben Hur. I so was enthralled with this movie as a child, I could sit for the almost four hours and watch it every time it came on TV (which was once every couple of years.) The action, the struggle of a wrongly accused innocent man, the long-delayed romance, and the inevitable demise of the antagonist set on a Biblical backdrop hooked me and still does.

4.     Serious theme—The Boy in the Striped Pajama’s. As a history teacher, I showed my students a lot of movies illustrating the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement, films depicting various wars, and other historical pictures. For the Holocaust, most people think of Schindler’s List, and rightly so; but this movie is extremely relatable to parents and children alike with a shocking twist ending that really hits home.

5.     Romance—Titanic. By now, you have figured out I love history, and the big screen adaptation by James Cameron is simply fabulous. Much more than a love story, the romantic elements permeate the production from the splendor of the ship, nostalgia over the tragedy, and the unlikely connection between two individuals from vastly different worlds. Even without the HEA ending, I revel in this movie every time I see it.

6.     Martial Arts—Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. This one is also a favorite romantic film of mine, with two love stories intertwined against a spectacular cinematic back drop. I could watch it again and again, picturing myself as Yu Shu Lien played by the incomparable Michelle Yeoh. The martial arts moves are wonderful to behold.

7.     Legendary—Troy. If I didn’t decide on one movie per category, I may have filled the post with only legendary titles. Epic battles with flawed heroes, and this one is so well done.

8.     Action/Adventure—Jurassic Park. There are many categories this could fit into, but it was going to make my top ten list! I absolutely LOVE dinosaurs, and way back when the movie first went to the big screen, it set a new standard for special effects. The dinosaurs looked so real, and I just loved every minute; can’t wait for the new installment of Jurassic World this summer reuniting the original cast!

9.     Creature feature—Jaws and Aliens. And here’s the tie; how does one choose? The original Jaws movie was fabulously crafted and the only film I’ve seen that was so tense and terrifying I wasn’t able to finish my popcorn (I was shy of my fifteenth birthday at the time). Sigourney Weaver as Ripley taking on all the man-eating space monsters is too fabulous for words. Therefore, a tie.

10. Syfy—The original Star Wars Trilogy. While the three prequels and three sequels were good, I am in love with the ones I saw as a teen and young adult, movies that helped to shape my life. I still learn from Yoda’s wisdom. Yes, the action, the spaceships, the romance, and the moral dilemmas make this a great trilogy, but I’m most drawn to the film’s spiritual aspects.

Best of the Best—The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This is my all-time favorite story brought to life so brilliantly by Peter Jackson and the award-winning cast. It is epic, fantasy, action-adventure, accompanied by beautiful music and stunning settings with tastes of comedy, romance, and serious themes thrown in. I could list the aspects I love about it, but it would be easier to simply say “everything.” I re-watch the series every year or two because it inspires me to go the extra mile, to never give up, and to look for the best in people.

I’m sure every author has the same dream, but I look forward to the day when I can rewrite my top ten list and a movie version of one of my novels will be on it. Until then, keep reading the historical action/adventure/sapphic-romance books by Edale Lane!

Walks with Spirits Meme

From Chapter Two of Walks with Spirits

A movement at the front door drew Brook’s attention and in an instant her face lit up and her heart swelled. A tall woman wearing men’s clothing strode in, her head held high, and the energy in the chamber danced. Even Thunder Warrior did not seem so dull.

“That is Walks with Spirits,” he said with a gesture. “She is an odd woman of Nutaula who is coming on the hunt with us tomorrow. The Old Ones and shaman speak of her like she is special, but she can’t do anything that I can’t do. I feel uncomfortable around people of two spirits, don’t you?”

Brook’s smile had become a glow. “That is my Mepoose, my best friend. We grew up together in this house before she moved to your village.”

Thunder Warrior shifted positions and pushed back his free-flowing long hair. “I mean, she is well respected among our community. We are taught it is a blessing from the Creator to be born with two spirits,” he fidgeted. “It is merely something I don’t understand.”

Brook wrenched her gaze from Spirits long enough to study her male guest, a bemused expression on her face. When she said nothing, he continued to explain himself.

“I am a physical man,” he said with a tap to his muscled chest, “who lives in a physical world. I do not put my trust in spirits and legends. My spear, my bow, and the strength of my arm protect me from danger. Many men say one is well served to steer clear of spirits, lest you offend one. They say she talks to them every day.”

As Brook returned her oval eyes to follow Spirits across the room, her heartbeat raced and she sensed a tingle running through her being. “She does,” she affirmed.

She watched Spirits approach the hearth closest to the door where she stopped beside the spot where an old man with a cane sat on a cedar box up close to the fire, a beaver fur cape wrapped around his shoulders. He had deep lines in his leathery face, long gray hair bound by a plain leather band, and one leg stretched out awkwardly to catch the heat. Since Thunder Warrior had stopped talking, she could overhear their exchange.

“It is good to see you, Growling Bear,” Spirits greeted.

He spared her a glance and grunted. “Is it, now? If it were so, maybe you would come around more often.” He pulled his cape tighter and stared into the flames with a sour look on his etched face.

“You know I moved to be with my relatives in Nutaula,” she replied pleasantly. “But all morning I have been praying to the spirits that you will help me out.”

This time he raised suspicious eyes to her, hooded under scrunched brows. “Is that so?”

“It is. You see, I have been so blessed with good fortune that I have caught more game than I know what to do with. I am hoping you can take these two rabbits off my hands.” She extended the better pair toward him.

Growling Bear scowled and lowered his gaze to hands as gnarled as thick, aged vines. “What do I want with those scrawny, worthless rabbits?”

Spirits shrugged. “See, the thing is, I can only offer you the meat. I need the skins for a project I’m working on, so I’d have to skin them before I give them to you. I know they are rather puny, but they are fresh and there is only you to eat them.” She let out a disappointed sigh. “If you don’t take them, I’ll have to toss them to the village dogs, and they may fight over them. I hate it when the dogs fight over food, but… I simply have too much fresh game to keep them.”

Thunder Warrior spun to Brook in outrage. “What is he talking about? Those are fat, fine rabbits. Why is that grouchy old man so ungrateful? He does nothing but sit about and complain. When I am chief, I will not allow anyone like him to live in my longhouse. How can Black Bear tolerate him?”

Brook waited a moment to answer him as she listened to Growling Bear’s reply.

He shifted on his box and rubbed a hand across his knee. “I suppose I could take them if it is going to cause you distress for me to refuse. Maybe Falling Rain can throw them in a pot with some vegetables.”

Spirits smiled. “I will bring them back in a few minutes when I have skinned and cleaned them. Many thanks to you, Growling Bear. You have done me a great service.”

“I do not understand that woman!” Thunder Warrior declared. “He insults her and she thanks him.”

Brook turned to her guest while Spirits made her way slowly around the plank-house greeting everyone. “Do you not know who that old man is?”

“A leach who lives off the charity of others,” he stated in derision.

“No.” Brook explained in gentle and compassionate tones. “Growling Bear was once a great hunter. He feared neither man nor beast. He brought in scores of fish and killed five bears along with countless deer, elk, beaver, and other game. When he married, a reunion was held in his honor and he was Worthy and esteemed.”

“What happened to him then?” Thunder Warrior considered her words with reserved curiosity.

“One falling leaves time, long before I was born, he was on a hunting party in the mountains and they must have wandered too close to where the sasquatch lived. A sasquatch hurled a boulder that started a landslide on the mountain and Growling Bear was caught up in it. When the dust settled, the others found him near the bottom under a pile of rocks. They made a litter and rushed him back to Paupeck for the healer and shaman to help.” In an aside, Brook added, “This was before Black Bear and Rainbow held those titles, but who knows if they could have done better. The healer straightened and set his leg with splints, but it was broken in many places. He was very fortunate to have lived through the ordeal at all.”

Love is for other people, not for me.

At least that’s what I believed, until I met him

Julian Hill.

The most famous rock star on the planet. A music god with untidy hair and the voice of an angel.

I’ll never be anything but out, and he has very good reasons to stay in the closet.

After all, every move he makes is dissected, critiqued, and posted on social media, so he just wants a little privacy.

I understand that. Truly.

But no one makes me feel the way he does, and I’m pretty sure he has feelings for me as well.

Which is inconvenient since his record label hired me to sue him.

I should’ve sorted things out before I kissed him.

Oops.

Ambiguous is a forbidden mm rock star romance about a fashion-forward singer who hates labels of all kinds (except for clothing), a dapper attorney who already has a (fake) boyfriend for a very good reason, and the possibility of love saving the day.

Cat gives this book 5 Meows with a 2 purr heat index...

Ambiguous is a Rockstar, Lawyer sweet romance with some heat. It’s also opposites attract and coming out.

Sam works in contract law in a firm he doesn’t really like. He sticks it out because he can do pro bono and work with LGBTQ cases. His grandfather is a politician, and he spends his weekend at his family’s gala’s. He is assigned to a famous rock star Julian Hill to make sure he completes his contract and becomes Julian’s muse.

I just loved both of these characters. Julian isn’t like any rockstar I’ve read and it endeared me to him and Sam? Oh sweet sweet Sam that puts everyone first. These two couldn’t be more different yet fit so perfectly. I think I read this with Emoji hearts in my eyes all the way through to the surprise ending.

I can’t wait for the next book.

Excerpt

Julian takes my breath away. While I’ve met plenty of celebrities, with him I feel this hit to my solar plexus. I freeze, because he’s so hot it’s too much to process.

Dark, perfectly mussed hair. Dark brown eyes. Tan skin.

His black pants are painted on, highlighting his lanky form. He’s wearing heeled black boots with chains on them and a loose, lacy, unbuttoned blouse and piles of long pearl necklaces. Rings on every finger click as he fidgets. His Adam’s apple moves as he drinks from a bottle of water.

He started with a boy band a decade ago. And, while I listen to plenty of pop music, I’ve intentionally ignored him just to piss Emily off. I’m mature like that sometimes. I’m not sure why I even started that—she and I love a lot of the same music and go to concerts together whenever we can, but at some point I decided he was just too cheesy, and then it became a thing. Julian is now on his own, the only one from his original group to have a successful solo career.

Of course I’ve heard his music. I’m generally aware of him, because I live in a condo in America and not under a rock cut off from communication with the outside world.

I’ve just never put his songs on voluntarily. Now I wish I knew more about him.

The table’s been set up for the meeting with bottles of fancy water and carafes of coffee. Readying himself for introductions, Julian sets down his water and stands up.

I walk over to shake his hand, and it’s like it happens in slow motion. One second I’m standing, and the next my toe hooks on a chair leg and I go flying. My flailing wrist manages to knock his open bottle of water from the table, and I take him down to the floor in one fell swoop, splashing water all over him as I go.

He lands on the industrial carpet with an “Oomph,” and I end up sprawled on top of him.

Heat singes my cheeks. Oh shit, oh shit. I won’t blame him if he pulls a diva fit after I ruined his clothes. They’re next season’s Gucci.

I start mentally updating my résumé.

“Oh my god,” I whisper, fumbling up to the table to grab a stack of paper napkins from the coffee service while struggling to get off of him as fast as I can.

Julian frowns, and then he jackknifes up to a sitting position, forcing a laugh. His now-wet shirt leaves little to the imagination, revealing the shapes of tattoos scattered all over his chiseled torso. I kneel at his feet and start wiping his pants, only to realize that, yeah, I’m trying to dry off the crotch of a Grammy-nominated recording artist.

“Oh my god,” I repeat. “I’m so sorry.”

I can’t stop dabbing at his crotch.

With a white napkin.

That’s leaving shreds of wet lint.

On his dark designer pants.

I’m making it so much worse—and my reaction to him is getting worse, too. Partly because there’s a bulge underneath that zipper, and it’s not small. Like, not at all small. Partly because he smells amazing—like maybe rum and vanilla—which makes my body hum and my cock wake up.

Even though I don’t live my life as a train wreck, apparently it can get derailed in one second flat.
