Stray is a steamy MM romance featuring a cranky panther shifter, a freshly-made vampire, & lamb-on-a-stick. A grumpy/sunshine, age gap, opposites attract, reluctant-fated-mates pairing that must overcome the odds to win their HEA!

Leonas is a cranky panther shifter set in his ways. He handles security for an exclusive brothel and takes the safety of the staff at The Twig and Berries seriously, to the extent of sacrificing his love life for work.

When a young vampire called Jeno shows up with heart eyes and disturbing news, Leonas is taken aback. Who is this curious youth and why is he hitting on Leonas of all people? More importantly, when is he leaving? Because Leonas has no time for romance.

Though Jeno is running from a dark past, he can’t help but to stop in his tracks for Leonas. The grumpy cat shifter might be prickly on the outside, but inside? Well, Leonas is prickly there too. He needs someone like Jeno to escape the lonely trap of his own making.

Can Jeno evade the snare of Hungary’s notorious opium slingers? Will Leonas break the chains of his past? Together, they stand a chance, but suffering alone is all they’ve ever known.

Cat gives this book 5 Meows with a 3 purr heat index...

I liked that this was set in the 1600’s in Hungary in mainly Pest, though Buda is mentioned too. I like the old world feel.

There are also many types of Otherworld creatures that abound, a few we met in the other books (you probably should read this series in order so you know the main players and settings). This is Leonas' story, he is a greeter and protector at the Twig and Berries, a brothel owned by Incubi.

Jeno is a recently turned vampire and has a history of poppy use which is a big no for Leonas and the Brothel. They find the Goblin that turned him in the area and his business is thriving

I love all these characters.  There is a lot of action and humor, and the plot is good.

Excerpt

He takes the stairs two at a time in a bounding, clumsy sort of fashion unlike most vampires I’ve encountered. A wide grin stretches across his youthful face, but you never know with a vampire. He could be older than me, though for some reason I doubt it. He doesn’t just look young, he acts it too, flopping into the small room, into my space without so much as a by your leave, and dropping his pack on the little table next to me. The urge to bat it right off again strikes, but I resist.

“Wow. You must be Leonas. You’re even scarier looking than Ivaz warned. But he also said not to worry. That you would act mean but that you weren’t really mean. ‘Just a kitten,’ he said. That true? I’ve never met a panther before.”

Irritation crawls beneath my skin and settles at the back of my neck and the tip of my tongue. I’ll have a few words for Ivaz when next I see him. “And you are?”

“Jeno!” He says his name like it’s a prize rather than a basic introduction and thrusts his hand toward my center, dopey grin still intact.

I stare at it through lowered lids. No. Will not be touching him. He’s already acting too familiar for my comfort. I don’t plan to encourage it. “What’s your business here?”

His brows crumple as he withdraws his hand. “Letters.” He regains a modicum of his former exuberance. “I’m the new messenger.”

Since when do the vampires allow messengers to be this young? I study him. His tanned skin still retains human pores. His mouth, a rosy shade of pink with slight protrusions where fangs lay hidden beneath, trembles as if he’s finally realizing he stands before a true threat and not the harmless kitten Ivaz so erroneously made me out to be.

My own lips part as I take in his wide eyes, hazel jewels sparkling with questions, staring at mine as if it’s I who hold the answers. They spell me with their beauty. A rush of warmth fills my chest.

I shake myself out of it with an irritated huff. “And so? Hand over the letters, then.”

He squints. It’s cute. I hate him.

Title: In the Trenches: An OPS Protector Romance Novel
Series: Owens Protective Services Book 1
Author: Giulia Lagomarsino
Genre: Protector Romance
Release Date: August 29, 2022
Cover Design: T.E. Black Designs
Cover Model: Guy Michael

I stalk my prey, never taking my eyes off the target.
I'm a sniper by trade, but I'm so much more than that.
My rifle is an extension of me.
I am the bullet.
I am a Hunter of Gunmen.

I was born a protector and I'd die that way.
Leaving the military didn't change that. It's why I started my business, Owens Protective Services.
My men are my family, my brothers.
And the people I protect are my mission.
As for the tangos...sometimes you have to flush the toilet of humanity.

But even when protecting clients, I've never put myself on the line for anyone like I have for her.
Beth.
She keeps her secrets close to the vest, much like I keep my emotions.
I've always been able to compartmentalize a job, but with her, everything's out of control. I can't decide if I can trust her or not, especially when she stumbles into the middle of a job. She seems innocent, but aren't they always?

I see the scared woman backing away from anyone that comes near her. I see the urge to run. But I also see the kitten with claws, ready to come out fighting if anyone dares come after her.

Deep down, I know she's my destiny.
My reason for fighting.
I will uncover her secrets, and then I'll do my job, taking out anyone that dares threaten her.

Cat gives this book 4 Meows...

This is book one of a new Series; OPS. I think more along the lines of Reed Security as that’s mentioned in the first of the book, though you don’t have to have read that series to enjoy this. It stands alone fine.

I will say this book started off a bit slow for me and the first portion I didn’t see where it fit into the actual story. I do understand the author was building up the characters of Owens Protective Services though, and also we had Beth as well.  It was kind of like several stories in one.

All of the characters are strong and make a great team. Once the story got started it was very suspenseful, page turning and then... boom! What a cliffhanger. Now I can’t wait for the next book.

I'm a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, "No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book." I didn't think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn't already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven't been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.

Cat's Review of The Doctor's Wish (Carlisle Medical book 3) by Andrew Grey @AndrewGreyBooks @TTCBooksandmore

Dr. Jackson Burnside is an orthopedic surgeon who made his own way. Always different, he got out of Natchez before his family could throw him out, but still wishes things could be reconciled. He's built a successful practice and a sound reputation in Carlisle. When he's called to the hospital for a consultation, the last person he expects to meet is Wes.

Wes Fortier had fewer opportunities than Jackson, but he’s worked hard and has a good job that brought him to Carlisle. A work injury lands him in the ER, where he crosses paths again with Jackson, who may be the silver lining he has been praying for in a life filled with gray.

Jackson’s and Wes’s renewed friendship deepens to attraction and possibly unspoken love. Both Wes and Jackson find something they’ve been missing. Just when they begin to lay the foundations of the kind of relationship they’ve both wished for, Jackson’s mother swoops into town with an olive branch for her son, but her hidden agenda could threaten everything.

Cat gives this book 5 Meows with a 1 purr heat index...

This is book 3 in the series, but you can read it on its own just fine.

Jackson Left his well-to-do family and paid his way through college. He worked hard to get where he is and start his own practice and become a surgeon. Deep down he still hopes to be able to work out things with his family someday though.

Wes is from the same town and his parents kicked him out when he was young. He worked hard, made his own way and he now works in a warehouse and got promoted and is living in Carlisle. But he got in an accident and Jackson was called in to consult on his leg.
Being new to town and having no one to help, Jackson offers his home for Wes to heal.
As their friendship may be growing into more Jackson's mom shows up, but could she ruin everything?

I loved both of these men, both are very kind and caring. I also loved Poppy, Jackson's dog.
The story has a few good twists and is a slow burn. If you like a slow burn, friends to lovers, and small town romance you will love this.

To secure the job of his dreams, photographer Ty York tells his new boss he’s gay. Now Ty has to play the part. The plot thickens when Ty is asked to bring his “boyfriend” to a company event.

Beau Thompson is a struggling actor waiting for his big break. To make things worse, his fiancรฉe isn’t exactly thrilled with his chosen profession. When his best friend, Ty, needs someone to pretend to be his gay boyfriend for a party, of course Beau will help Ty out. What could possibly go wrong?

One-click this friends to lovers, fake boyfriend romance for friendship, feels and steamy scenes.

Cat gives this book 3 Meows with a 4 purr Heat Index.

The story starts out super hot, and I realized this book was going to be just that... a fictionalized romance from the beginning. No one just hands you a job like Tye was handed with no real trial or checking credentials, then offers a move to California to be an editor in a week (just saying). But let's suspend our belief and go on the joyride the story takes you on, because it is one heck of one.

Ty and Beau have been best friends since kids. Of course, life has moved them about a bit, but they always come back to friendship. Beau is marrying a senator's daughter or some political tycoon and is a struggling Actor.

Ty needs Beau to go and play his fake boyfriend and things get carried away. Another thing here is this rich man would have checked his guests and known who Beau was. But back to the story, Beau and Ty got a bit too into character and realized they had feelings for each other, but they just keep messing things up and making them worse.

I actually liked both Beau and Ty. I saw some reviewers didn't like the cheating Ty did to try to prove he wasn't Gay, but I could see it. To me, it was better than "oh, so I am gay, I had it wrong all those years". I liked that it took work for them to actually find themselves and then there was another twist that surprised me. I will say these guys really had to fight for love.
If you like fake boyfriends, friends to lovers, gay for you, coming out and a good, romantic comedy then this book is for you.
