The title is Drama Daddy by Joe Cosentino. it is book 17 in The. Nicky and Noah Mystery series. You could read it on its own as everything is explained but you’d enjoy much better read in order since there are so many recurring characters.
As usual the cover is cute and goes well with the title. Then I read the blurb and it really got my interest because I love this series and it always makes me laugh.
Who’s my favorite main character?
I guess Nicky. He’s so fun, tells a hood story snd solves the mysteries.
The story is set at Tree Meadow College where both Nicky and Noah are professors.
The story is a cozy mystery.
What surprised me most about the book was?
Only 1 murder instead of 5. It’s always hard to guess the murderer.
I liked the ending. It was a HEA and left me smiling.
How hot was the book?
All sex is off page but there is lots of sexy innuendo, so I give it a 1.
If you like cozy mysteries, humor, family, established couples and a book that is going to make you laugh, you will love this book.

The title is Secret Squirrel by Giulia Lagomarsino it is book 11 in OPS series. You do have to read in order, especially this one. I’ve read them all and at the beginning I felt like I missed a book because Asher is a character we only met once him and his team and they were whisked off to a special assignment for Rafe.
The cover is as hot as all of these. I think this is one of my favorite series covers. I’d love this series in a poster when complete. I’m reading this series so I wait eagerly for each new book but this one is also mafia, forced marriage and forced proximity so of course I love it. There are a couple trigger warnings mentioned so if talk of abuse, addiction, and someone being drugged bothers you, skip this one or read with caution.
Who’s my favorite main character?
As in all this authors books her characters are all amazing. Lock was the OPS character that came to assist this time. I like him but I missed having Fox though we got a cameo. The story is a suspense with romantic elements.
What surprised me most about the book was?
It was a little different than the rest. It lacked the humor. Which I guess was to fit the darker plot of the book.
What did I like best?
That we got to see the OPS guys again.
What would have made that better?
If we had met these guys a few more times before the book besides the short time we did. And there were more OPS guys involved. As always there is a shocking twist that leaves you on edge of your seat.
I liked the ending, it was HFN as in most of these books since the stories are ongoing. But, I myself like continuing series and love a good cliffhanger (for the ongoing plot) and it just makes me want the next book.
How hot was the book?
Slow burn with lots of sexual tension but when then sex started, whoa!
If you like ongoing series, protection services, spies, mafia (kinda) fake marriages, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and an all over hood story and series this is for you.
“I have a proposition for you, though I’m not sure you’re smart enough to take it. We like to keep our business contracts within our circle. Going outside is usually messy, but we’re willing to do it when someone fucks up. O’Toole fucked up big time. No one is very willing to do business right now, but I could grease the wheels and make sure they only do business with you. If you’re a smart man, you’ll accept my help. If you’re not, you’re going to find yourself out of business very quickly.”
And dead at the bottom of a river. That was implied.
“And if I accept? What are your demands?”
His lips quirked up. “I wouldn’t call it a demand. More like a stipulation. I need to know the men I’m working with are just as aware of the risks involved and willing to risk what’s necessary to make this a successful business venture. However, since you’re new to our organization, I require something more…personal.”
My insides clenched as he spoke. Whatever he wanted, it wasn’t going to be good. But if I didn’t go along, I wouldn’t be around much longer.
“And what’s that?” I asked smoothly.
He snapped his fingers, not bothering to look behind him at the guards. I heard a scream as the woman was dragged out of her chair and hauled over to Buchanan’s side. She kicked at the guard, desperately trying to escape his grasp, but he was too strong for her efforts to be fruitful. She stilled, but her breaths huffed out as she stared at Buchanan with anger in her eyes.
“This is my daughter, Jade.” His eyes glittered with mirth as I stared at him. I wasn’t sure what he was getting at, but now I was even more confused than before.
I nodded at the daughter, who only sneered at me. My eyes narrowed, but inside, I was dying with laughter. I’d seen that look before from some of the women at OPS. Seeing her reminded me of my life before I agreed to this crazy mission.
“Jade has disgraced her family, and she has paid for it, but now she’s not a good choice for any of the men I would have considered for her.”
“And why’s that?”
“Excuse me?”
“Why is she not suitable for them?”
“Because she’s tarnished.”
Whatever the fuck that meant. “And?”
He narrowed his eyes at me, clearly not liking my tone of voice. Well, I didn’t care for any of this conversation.
“If you want to prove yourself to me and have my help, you will marry her.”
