Chosen by the Fae King
C.A. Worley
(Brides of Falcondale, #1)
Publication date: May 28th 2024
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance

In the fae Kingdom of Falcondale, Prince Nox ascends the throne under the ominous cloud of his father’s assassination. Beneath the veiled guise of enacting the bride trials, Nox, a brooding and often callous male, hopes to find much more than just a wife.

In an attempt to save her closest friend from the treacherous trials, Aeryn volunteers to take her place, hoping to save her friend from the clutches of the coldhearted king. Her impulsive act backfires and both females are thrown into the contest for the king’s hand.

Aeryn bucks against the archaic tradition—only to end up awakening an irresistible attraction between her untamed spirit and Nox’s enigmatic allure. As the boundaries of deception and desire are blurred, the pair must navigate the dangers together or fall prey to sinister forces that threaten not only their lives, but control of the kingdom.

While this story is not dark romance, it does contain elements of violence and mature situations some may find uncomfortable. Recommended for readers 18+.

EXCERPT:

“I have nothing else to offer,” I told him.

“That’s not true. In fact, I know what I want and only you have it.”

Nox shifted closer, his arm behind me now. Not touching, but close.

I didn’t move. Could hardly breathe.

“If you don’t want my mouth on her body, then I’ll have it on yours instead.”

Muscles I didn’t know I had clenched between my legs. Butterflies flew around in my belly. My body was betraying me in the worst of ways.

“Just your mouth?” I checked.

Shit. Was I actually entertaining his smarmy request?

“Unless you ask for more.”

“And just kissing? On my mouth?”

The tilt of his lips was a wicked, wicked thing. “Again, unless you ask for more.”

“Fine,” I agreed, closing my eyes. “Get it over with.”

“I have to say, this is a first for me,” Nox mused.

“Same.”

“You’ve not bargained for mouth-only kisses?” he jested.

My eyes popped open. “No. I’ve never had to bargain with my body to get something I want.”

Nox stilled, something feral stared out at me from deep within his eyes, a beast coming to life in his psyche. It called to the wildness inside me, the untamed voice I’d always kept buried deep.

Uh oh.

“Spread your legs, Aeryn.” His pitch fell so low I felt it vibrate across my skin.

Alarm bells went off in my mind. “But—”

“I agreed not to go beyond a kiss. Now spread your fucking legs.”

Tentatively I pulled my knees wider. The skirt of the dress shifted, fabric dropping between my legs like it was making room for the king.

Nox lowered to the floor, kneeling between my legs. Bending his face to just inches above the juncture of my thighs, he inhaled deeply.

Goosebumps broke out across my skin.

A low rumble echoed from his chest as his spine straightened, his face closing in on mine. The king’s hands landed on the back of the couch, on either side of my head.

Unable to look away, I watched his mouth descend. Soft and oh so gentle, his lips brushed mine. Electricity sparked between our flesh. I gasped and his tongue probed carefully. My abdominals tightened, breasts turned heavy.

Then he was gone. Confused, I looked up and found him twenty feet across the room.

Nox waved a dismissive hand. “Go,” he ordered, “and pray I’m in a forgiving mood when next we meet.”

I sat there in stunned silence, face burning.

“Sofiya is safe from me. Now get out.”

I stared at him for a long moment before standing and stalking from the room.

First of all WOW WOW WOW! This book kept me on my toes and I didn’t want to put it down! Absolutely amazing Mafia Romance!
Enemies To Lovers and a He Falls First trope! My favourites!!
Their push and pull sizzles off the pages! An ideal mix of mystery, action, violence and steam. This little stalker is about to meet her match.
Absolute must!!!! I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading…

Ara
Revenge was meant to be sweet.
Instead, I drew the attention of a monster.
I’m at his mercy.
He knows my secret. But only part of it.
Time is ticking, and only one of us is going to walk out of this alive.

Luca
Ara is my stalker, but I’ve become obsessed.
She has more curves and beauty than she has the right to.
I’m going to break her.
I want to cut open and figure out that brilliant mind of hers.
Especially when I suspect she’s trying to underhand everything I’ve built.

Cat gives this 5 meows with 5 purr heat index.

Oh, Wow, is this book good! I love a good AntiHero, and Luca makes for one of the best, if you can call him that.

There are a couple or intersected plot lines, the major plot and of course the romance.... scratch that... obsession.

You will not want to put this down once you start so, be prepared. And, oh the twists!

There are some good secondary characters that I wouldn't mind seeing a story from. There is a lot of violence, lots of heat, some possible dubious consent.

If you like Mafia, Dark, Dark romance, Enemies to lovers with lots of heat and lots of twists, this is definitely for you.

I should be on Island Time right now.
They say no man is an island.
Well, let me tell you something. I was born for island living.
I like to drink, smoke my cigars, and sleep under my favorite hat.
That’s my idea of a good time.
Island living isn’t for everyone, especially the guys at OPS.
You would think as former military that I would fit right in.
But unlike them, I don’t take great pleasure in rescuing the girl, taking out baddies, or saving the world.
That’s not what Island Time is about.
All I need is a woman in my bed and a drink in my hand.
I just didn’t realize what I was getting myself into when I brought this particular woman home.
Fista…Whista? Nah, that’s not right. I’ll remember her name one of these days.
Names aren’t really important.
But her scent…I would go to church if it meant knowing what that amazing smell was.
Granted, I’d probably turn to ash the moment I stepped through the doors, but it was a risk I was willing to take.
For her.
Just as long as I still get my Island Time.
A man doesn’t change overnight, and there’s no way I’m up island living for a woman. Not even if she said she doesn’t want me anymore.
How much longer can I hold out?
It’s been five days …And A Wake-Up.

Cat gives this book 4 meows with a 4 purr heat index...

Hi Ya'll! Come join me while I tell you about this book I just read.

The title is...a Wake Up by Guilia Lagomarsino. it's book 19 in the Owens Protion Services series. You should read this in order because there are recurring characters and most times an overall  series arc as well as the main arc of the book.

The cover is interesting, I really like these covers. The summary drew me in because
of this right here, but unlike them, I don’t take great pleasure in rescuing the girl, taking out baddies, or saving the world.

That’s not what Island Time is about.' Yeah this is gonna be different!

My favorite main character was... Max because not many can write such unlikable characters and make you fall in love with them, but Guila can. Case in point, one of the most popular characters in this series is Fox, a funyon eating psychopath that gets his jollies torturing and disposing of the bodies in acid. Only the baddies, of course.

There is a secondary character I loved *points above to Fox* Yeah, we got lots of him plus FNG.

The plot was intriguing with Max and his drunken self and a preachers daughter? Now there's opposites for ya.

There is a small mission though I'd have liked more suspense and missions. But there is lots of humor too. Gotta love that.

The ending is good but I was expecting a bit more. Though all the endings are unique. Now time for the next book.

I recommend this if you like unique characters,  ex-military, preachers daughters, age gap, virgins, opposites attract, lots of heat and humor.

I'm a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, "No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book." I didn't think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn't already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven't been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.
