Cat's Review of Peak Cruelty by Britney King @britneyking_ @enticingjourney @tammystwocents X- @EJBookPromos @TTCBooksandmore

A luxury kidnapping?
Or a disaster in the making?

He’s done this before—followed women, watched them, waited for their secrets to surface.
It always ends the same. He chooses the perfect victim.

And then he makes them pay.

But this one?

She’s too perfect. Too normal. The kind of woman who smiles like she has nothing to hide.
That’s what gives her away.

When she leaves the hospital that night, he’s ready. Calm. Precise.

Until she turns to him and says:
“This is a mistake.”

She’s not talking about him.

By the time he realizes he’s taken the wrong woman—she’s already inside the house. Locked in. Living by his rules.

But she’s not afraid. She won’t confess.
She won’t break.

Because she’s not the victim.
And whatever she’s hiding?
It’s not just darker than his past.
It might be
deadlier.

Bestselling author Britney King delivers a razor-wire psychological thriller about obsession, revenge, and secrets with teeth. For readers who know the worst monsters don’t make mistakes—they make plans.

Trigger warnings. Kidnapping, violence, dubious consent and murder.

But hey, it is a psychological thriller, so you expect it to be dark, and there's a lot of this.

What I liked... all the twists and there are so, so many. And the nail biting suspense.

The characters are intriguing, and you can't help but liking the villain. Or is he an antihero?  Hard to say.

But if you live a good twisty psychological thriller that is page turning and keeps you on your toes, this is for you.

Britney King lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, children, a dog named Gatsby, one ridiculous cat, and a partridge in a peach tree.

When she's not wrangling the things mentioned above, she writes psychological, domestic and romantic thrillers set in suburbia.

Without a doubt, she thinks connecting with readers is the best part of this gig. You can find Britney online here:

Cat's Review of Lighting The Darkness (Carnival of Mysteries) by Eden Winters @edenwinters @tammystwocents X- @edenwinters1 @TTCBooksandmore

Only Light can balance Darkness.

Lio wakes in someone else’s battered body with plenty of questions but no answers. Who is he? Who are the strangers who rescued him? Why do they call him Tenebris and Darkness? And why does everyone treat him like a feral dog about to attack?

Bel Am’I’s home world of Domus died moments after his escape, trapping him in the human realm with a clear mission. As Light, he must prevent Darkness from destroying Terra and the Domusians who’ve escaped there. Failure will doom billions to certain death, but how can he locate and balance a single, hidden being who doesn’t want to be found?

A mysterious carnival unites Lio and Bel, who must work together to uncover Lio’s true identity and stop him from accidentally annihilating the world. Yet someone doesn’t want them to succeed, someone who will stop at nothing to achieve the total destruction of both realms—even pitting Light against Darkness.

The battle for the end begins…

Lighting the Darkness is part of the multi-author Carnival of Mysteries Series and a side story to Eden Winters' Darkness. Each book includes at least one visit to Errante Ame’s Carnival of Mysteries, a magical, multiverse traveling show full of unusual acts, games, and rides. The Carnival changes to suit the world it’s on, so each visit is unique and special. This book contains characters from Darkness as well as new ones, alternate realms, a twist on soul mates, and bad guys. I mean, evil, horrible, terrible guys. Definitely the type you wouldn’t bring home to Mother. And one cookie-baking demon.

Oh boy was I tickled. This is in the Subpar Here World and sadly the last book, but we also go to Fox Hollow...one of Morgan's Worlds. So, we have lots of old friends meeting Scott as he tries to catch a drug dealer to the shifter world.

There are so many fun characters. There's mystery and humor and the fated mate thing. It's such a fun story.

You will know Eden Winters by her distinctive white plumage and exuberant cry of “Hey, y’all!” in a Southern US drawl so thick it renders even the simplest of words unrecognizable. Watch out, she hugs!

Driven by insatiable curiosity, she possibly holds the world’s record for curriculum changes to the point that she’s never quite earned a degree but is a force to be reckoned with at Trivial Pursuit.

She’s trudged down hallways with police detectives, learned to disarm knife-wielding bad guys, and witnessed the correct way to blow doors off buildings. Her e-mail contains various snippets of forensic wisdom, such as “What would a dead body left in a Mexican drug tunnel look like after six months?” In the process of her adventures, she has written twenty-eight gay romance novels, won several Rainbow Awards, was a Lambda Awards Finalist, and lives in terror of authorities showing up at her door to question her Internet searches.

When not putting characters in dangerous situations, she’s a mild-mannered businesswoman, mother, grandmother, vegetarian, and PFLAG activist.

Her natural habitats are airports, coffee shops, and the backs of motorcycles.

Cat's Review of For My Next Trick by Andrew Grey @andrewgreybooks @tammystwocents X- @AndrewGreyBooks @TTCBooksandmore

Nathaniel picked his pocket, stole his watch, put him in his own handcuffs... and that was just the foreplay.

Nathaniel Weatherby works as a cruise ship magician and comedian. He's also a thief, or at least he was. He left his family and their family business behind some years ago and uses his skills to entertain rather than cheat and steal. But when jewelry goes missing on board, his past comes back to haunt him.

Maryland police officer Randy Messier is on the cruise ship hoping for a little vacation, but also to keep his eyes open. There have been rumors, and the cruise line is determined to keep its passengers safe. Randy isn't sure what to do when he gets pulled on stage, but he doesn't expect Nathaniel to comically rob him blind and leave him in his own handcuffs.

After getting Randy's attention on stage, the two men circle each like moths to each other's flame, drawing them ever closer. But when jewelry is stolen, Randy's first suspicion falls on Nathaniel. Even when Nathaniel has an alibi, Randy still isn’t convinced. It becomes clear that the only way for them to possibly move forward is to catch the real thief. Even then, their growing attraction might not be enough.

Cat gives this book 5 meows with a 2 purr heat index...

I loved this so much.
Nathaniel is a magician with a secret.
Randy is a small town cop hired to do extra security on a cruise ship. Free vacation so why not.
Then the sexy magician pulls him on stage, robs him blind and then puts his own handcuffs on him. And the audience loves it.
But this puts Nathaniel as suspect.
Then there are a few really big twists.
As usual we get a fun read, all the feels, a fun setting, hot characters, hot romance, some mystery, twists and a happy ever after.

Keeping the Countess by Lille Moore Book Blitz with Excerpt & #giveaway @lillemoorebooks @xpressotours @tammystwocents X- @XpressoTours @TTCBooksandmore

Keeping the Countess
Lille Moore
Publication date: June 24th 2025
Genres: Adult, Historical, Romance

In this first installation of the DAMSELS IN DISGUISE series, a passionate clergyman on a mission to steal an earl’s secrets finds himself captivated by a cunning and courageous countess.

Charismatic curate Jonah Sinclair survived the deadly streets of south London with two well-trained fists and divine intervention. He will let nothing—not his vocation, nor his yearning to find love—stop him from pursuing the criminals who killed his father. When he learns the notorious Earl of Rochford could hold the key to retribution for his family, he seizes on the chance to become tutor to the earl’s young ward. But the only trace of Rochford he discovers at the mysterious Ravenglass Hall is his abandoned countess, a woman whose fierce strength stirs a forbidden temptation.

Faith Trenton, Countess of Rochford, is on the brink of ruin. Betrayed and abandoned by her husband, she disguises herself as a man to defend her estate from an embezzling steward. Jonah’s arrival threatens her carefully constructed masquerade, and despite the irresistible spark between them, she must send him packing, or risk having him expose the dangerous secrets she keeps hidden. But when a succession of attacks threatens everything that Faith has fought to protect, she’s forced to place her trust in Jonah, and pray he won’t unravel the truth, or her heart.

Helping Faith could sabotage Jonah’s mission. Loving her might cost him everything.

EXCERPT:

Jonah marched out of the tavern, his vexation blinding him to any semblance of the direction where he headed. It did not take long to realize he was absolutely stranded, alone in a country wilderness.

In the disorienting shadows of the soaking evening, a seed of regret at his impulsivity sprouted. As he contemplated swallowing his pride and turning back to the tavern, a preternatural cry sounded on the moor.

The ground shook, heralding a beast rising out of the fog.

Jonah wouldn’t have dared called the creature a horse; that was far too earthly a comparison. It sped toward him as if it had escaped straight from the ninth circle of hell.

Unholy thoughts clouded his brain. Unholier curses tumbled from his lips. He was pleased to discover the passage of time and years of service in Her Majesty’s Church had not scrubbed them from his memory.

The shriek of the wind rose over the roar of approaching hooves. This was the exact reason Jonah avoided Gothic novels like vermin; he preferred interacting with the supernatural in the controlled boundaries of the King James Bible.

Through the sheets of rain, he spotted a slight figure mounted on top of the enormous steed. Was the rider attempting to bring the monster under control? Or did he urge it on, hoping he might flatten a weary traveler to the ground?

A shrill cry sounded from the rider. Was it a warning? An apology? A prayer?

“MOVE OUT OF THE BLEEDING WAY, YOU DAFT FOOL!”

With a screeching whinny, the beast reared up before him, a black wall of menacing horseflesh. As lightning flashed around them, Jonah braced his arms over his head and curled himself into a protective crouch, precisely as the hell-beast tossed its rider from the saddle.

A moment of raw stillness followed.

The rain relented, revealing where the rider lay motionless on the path.

Jonah staggered across the short distance toward the body. With a deep breath and a short prayer, he kneeled down to examine the fallen man.

The crash of two thick skulls meeting each other upended his balance. He slipped on the drenched ground, falling on top of the rider, who protested wildly by snarling in a manner more feral than a quayside cat. The body entwined with his was as scrappy and slim as one. He had to be a young lad.

“Get off of me!”

“I’m trying!” Jonah protested as they tussled in the mud. Muck worked its way beneath the collar he’d starched himself, to make a good impression for the toffs who’d forgotten him. The potential embarrassment he’d face if he ever arrived at his destination burned energy into his limbs.

An instinct he thought he’d long retired kicked in and he rolled, quickly pinning the rider’s shoulders by pressing his own weight into the lad’s chest.

And therein, he discovered a very distinct set of curves that most decidedly did not belong to a young man.

The body beneath him hissed.

Jonah scrambled away and staggered to his feet. With his last remaining ounce of sense, he extended his hand to the rider.

The woman he’d just groped in the darkness.

Office of The Lost (Chaos and Order book 1) by J. Scott Coatsworth and Kim Fielding Blog tour with Cat's Review, Author Interview & #giveaway @jscottcoatsworth @kfieldingwrites @tammystwocents X- @TTCBooksandmore

J. Scott Coatsworth & Kim Fielding have a new MM fantasy romance out, Chaos and Order book 1: Office of the Lost. And there's a giveaway!

\Office of the Lost - J. Scott Coatsworth & Kim Fielding

When Perfection Collides With Chaos, Sparks Fly

Crispin Eladrin, desk fae at the Office of the Lost, could find a needle in ten haystacks. His desk is so neat it would make an accountant blush, and he's never failed to complete a recovery mission. He has no idea how adorable he is, especially when he's at his most annoyingly officious.

Enter utterly chaotic Leopold Lane. His life is a masterclass in disastrous events--and it's about to get worse. He's the latest thing that Crispin has been sent to retrieve, but when they meet, sparks fly. Literally. And now they must find their way back before someone—or something—enchants them, eats them, or stomps them to death.

Neither knows why the Office of the Lost is so hell-bent on acquiring Leo, but they're determined to survive long enough to find out--and to see if opposites really do attract.

This was so much fun, cute, sweet, funny, exciting and so much more.
Crispin is a high Fae working at OOTL (office of the lost) he's one of the top curators. He likes things perfect and orderly. He's sent on an assignment to bring in a Human and he and Leopold end up on many adventures including fixing the mess they made getting back. I’m hoping for more in this series.

If you like elaborate worlds, fantasy, opposites attract, humor, slow burn and Chaos (couldn't help it) you will love this.

Office of the Lost meme - J. Scott Coatsworth and Kim Fielding

Hi! I’m Kim Fielding. I have a new book out, co-authored with the amazing J. Scott Coatsworth. Office of the Lost is a lighthearted portal fantasy featuring an extremely organized and particular desk fae and a human who’s a one-man disaster zone.

Do you love the opposites-attract trope? I know I do. It often leads to really entertaining stories. I can think of quite a few examples from TV shows, movies, and books I’ve enjoyed. Beginning from the old Odd Couple series (if you’re going to try to argue that the attraction there was merely platonic, I’m not listening), and continuing through Good Omens, many of the Buffyverse couples, and a very substantial portion of romance literature.

It’s a really fun trope from both a reader’s and writer’s standpoint. It can be a wonderful source of humor, but it can also drive drama very strongly. I think that’s because both humor and drama rely on the existence of tension, and differing protagonists are a natural source of tension. From a romance perspective, opposites can complement each other well, with each person helping the other be good at things they’d otherwise struggle with.

However, in addition to being a romance writer, I also have degrees in psychology. And I’m sorry to tell you that research indicates people are generally attracted to people they have a lot in common with. Which makes sense, even if two people sharing interests makes for less riveting stories.

There’s a compromise to be found, however. An author can take start off with two people who, on the face if it, appear strikingly different in temperament, habits, and interests. But as the pair gets to know each other better, they can find similarities. Maybe it’s simply that they’re both striving for a common goal—which psychology also informs us is a great way to build bonds. This can also be a wonderful way to make a relationship build in what feels like an organic way, and to make us care about these people.

I hope that’s what Scott and I accomplished with this book. Leopold and Crispin seem very different indeed. In fact, they’re not even the same species! But as they get to know each other better—sometimes while being chased by something that wants to eat them—they might discover that they hold some important commonalities.

From rolling after a successful parachute drop: a term to describe an individual's buttocks. The first three points are feet, calves, and back of the thigh.

I know this because I took a hard landing, jumping out of a crashing plane on a job that should have been simple, with a woman latched to me with a jimmy rigged harness.

And that was just the beginning of the chaos. With my teammates nowhere in sight, it was way too easy to fall for this woman’s charms. To say we got dirty was a nice way of putting it.

Then the bear attacked and put us in an even more perilous position that I was unequipped to deal with after I decided to sacrifice myself to save the frustratingly beautiful woman.

So, it was no surprise when after all that, I kept in touch with her. She started writing me letters, telling me about the idiot who cheated on her. And I responded in equal kind, complaining about how my mother came for a visit, catching me with a stash of unmentionable magazines.

Did I expect her to fly out to see me? No, but I would be lying if I said she didn’t save my life.

I was pretty sure my mother wanted to send me to Catholic school for adults.

Cat gives this book 4 Meows with a 4 purr heat index...

We are gearing down to the finish line on this series, and I have to say, I hate seeing the end come.

This book was a bit lighter and fluffier with a bit less of the overall plot and more character focused. Patrick the playboy gets his story. It's fast paced and fun, there is also a loose string in Edu story tied up.

I loved Piper and she fits right in with the other OPS women.

I missed Fox but enjoyed the story we got and was refreshing to get more of less used characters like the Young squad.

I do recommend the series, but you must read in order or you may feel lost.
This is a great, fun, action packed, spicy and funny series.

I'm a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, "No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book." I didn't think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn't already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven't been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.
