*STACCATO PUBLISHING SPOTLIGHT* Author H.K.Savage

HK Savage has been a voracious reader of anything she could get her hands on going back to the second grade when she would set her alarm two hours early to read before school. Her passion for the written word has continued and flowed into writing going back nearly as far. Her books have fans in twenty countries on six continents with hopes of attracting attention on Antarctica if for no other reason than to check a box.
Currently, HK is a mother, wife and black belt in Karate as well as an avid dressage rider. Her three dogs: a Doberman puppy and two ancient Doxies keep her busy when she is not writing or working.
HK has been an editor for several newsletters over the years, her favorite being for Heifer International where her ideas were put into effect and complimented by those on high. Currently her editing skills, honed for nearly a decade in advertising media, have been focused on her peers and clients in the writing world as Founder and Editor in Chief of Staccato Publishing and new digital imprint, Darkest Night Publishing.
Paranormal is a favorite genre as well as science fiction and the possibilities we have not yet realized. Her favorite premise: "what if?"

So, my question to Savage was How do you balance it all?  In addition to being a wife and mother who's interests include Horse's and Karate...  How does she balance writer, publisher and editor??

And to answer your question, how do I balance being a writer, publisher and editor, let me give it a go.

This whole thing (Staccato Publishing and then Darkest Night Publishing) started with me as a writer. And a frustrated one at that. I was hearing that my stories were good, that they had potential but that to get in the door with one of the big publishers I had to get an agent (who would take 1/3). The agents wanted me to rework the stories I wrote and believed in to be considered "commercially viable." That was when it hit me- hey, I come from print advertising. I know print, I know marketing, I'd been editing for ten years. And I had something I wasn't seeing- a belief in fresh new voices that DIDN'T sound like everyone else. I WANTED authors who told their stories from their hearts and an editing staff that understood that. Our cover artists go back with the authors and myself to ultimately create a book an author can stand up proudly and say "this is mine."
Wait, that was me as an editor and publisher, wasn't it? You wanted to know when I write? Well, just like anyone else with a day job, I take the occasional day off, finish early, or devote my evenings to the stories demanding to come out. My newest series is my current baby, my first purely digital series going out under Darkest Night Publishing (our digital arm) and I'm so excited to share it! The Admiral's Elite is the name of the series and it's my first really adult work. Yep, finishing those racy scenes instead of just building heat. I'm still a little nervous about that but kind of excited to explore these new characters without limits. Second Sight, that's book one, is back to vampires and werewolves but with a military twist in case the title didn't give it away. Then, of course, I'm working on the sequel to The Path (March 2012). For the first time I'm working on two at the same time so we'll see how that goes.
Is it busy? Oh yeah, but I really like it. My world is all about making dreams come true whether they be someone else's or my own. I wouldn't trade it for a million years. We had a great first year and our second is just looking better. We've secured signings for all of our authors at the upcoming spring Romantic Times Convention in Kansas City, MO the first week of May and Jacinta Maree is even coming all the way from Australia to take part. Dedicated authors? I'd say so.

 The Path

Magick is real. And there is a secret world complete with its own agency, Veritas, to control those who would wield their power over “regulars”, or threaten the secrecy that keeps them all safe from the persecution that nearly destroyed them. For Cassie, a mixed blood witch, it’s the only world she’s ever known though she’s never embraced her role as agent for Veritas. For Drew, a witch born to a non-magickal family, it answers so many of his questions. It is also the cause of so much loss and pain. And now, as he and Cassie attempt to find his missing brother, rumored to be working with a rogue witch and cult leader, it threatens to take the last of his family. Or will magick save it?

New Adult PNR by author extraordinaire, HKSavage!
Release date November 20th 2012

Rebecca Sauter is a proud military police officer with a secret; she’s clairvoyant. Her ex-Marine father can’t understand why she won’t try harder for a commission but for Becca, hiding among the greater mass of enlisted men and women is safer.

One night on a run she encounters a terrifying man and his beastly dogs; in her attempts to defend herself she hits her head and passes out. When she wakes up in the hospital she’s being collected by a handsome but rude officer.

Humans are fragile. That has been Captain Michael Rossi’s mantra since his first days as a vampire in 1944. Now Admiral Black has given a post within his elite unit to a human woman solely because she has “the sight”. Michael’s fears that she will bring harm to his men are soon eclipsed by his realization that it is her who might suffer should the admiral decide she is a poor fit.

Dive into this new world with HK Savage’s new cast of characters in a series Paranormal Book Club is already calling “Perfect!”
