Author Interview, Review & Giveaway. Lynn Tyler Called to Mate

*Warning.. Adult content M/M erotica*

Declan, the new alpha of the pack, is burning with desire as dominant meets submissive in this explosive romance. A dark past and danger waiting around the next corner. Only fate knows if their love is strong enough to overcome the perils waiting for them.

Declan’s chance to be the alpha of his pack has finally come, but in order to take over he needs to find a mate. Finding the gorgeous and fragile Quinn living in his parents’ home, his body heats for no other.

Quinn is a submissive male wolf who has spent most of his life abused by his former alpha. But being mated to his new pack’s alpha provides him with a level of safety he’s never known before, and a whole new world of passion and lust.

Just as their love begins to blossom, a wolf from Quinn’s past threatens the happiness he’s found in Declan’s arms. *amazon.com*

Declan has come home to take over as alpha of his pack, his father is stepping down to join the council.  The last thing he expected to find when he arrived was skittish shifter Quinn, sleeping on the floor in his parents living room.  Quinn has taken sanctuary within Declan's pack at the urging of the council, after suffering mentally and physically at the hands of his former Alpha for being Gay and a submissive wolf.  Declan is immediately, intensely and insanely protective of Quinn and these two fall in love almost as fast as they fall into bed!

Boy meets Boy and they live happily ever after, nope!  Someone from Quinn's former pack threatens to destroy not only Declan and Quinn's newfound love, but the entire pack.  Add to that the unease that has settled over the pack where Quinn is concerned and the fact that his Alpha/Mate is keeping secrets from him and the plot thickens.

What I liked most about this story was the aspect of touch, Declan talks about it several times throughout the story.  These wolves thrive on touch, they hug, shake hands, have lots of hot sex (bonus!), and once Quinn is exposed to this he thrives as well.  With his former pack Quinn was neglected and abused, only touched as a negative and he withered, never able to shift.  With his new found pack he flourishes as touch becomes a positvie, not to mention being claimed by the Alpha!  As short as this book was there was still some great character interaction and plot development.  I didn't like that Declan was being secretive, but Tyler made up for it by letting his beta tell him just how assanine he was being.

I give this one 4/5.. Hot shifters, Hot sex and an intriguing storyline, whats not to love!

So after reading this book I had to contact the author, I had to get a little backstory on this story.  Here is my Interview with Author Lynn Tyler (giveaway details to follow).

*Tell us about yourself. Where are you from and where do you call home?
Well, I'm Canadian, born and bred. I was born and raised in Toronto and lived there until the mid 90's. I then moved to the Kitchener-Waterloo region, which is the home of the BlackBerry. I met my first and only boyfriend in my freshman year of university (I was a late bloomer) and we married just after I graduated. Now we have two beautiful kids and still live in southern Ontario.
*For those unfamiliar with your book, Called to Mate, how would you introduce it?
That's actually a very good question. Called to Mate is, at it's core, a romance. While there are issues revolving around an Alpha mating a submissive wolf, the real story is how Declan and Quinn fall in love under difficult circumstances.
*The story of Declan and Quinn in Called to Mate has become one of my favorite love stories, how did you come up with the concept?
I've loved paranormal stories for as long as I can remember and shifters are one of my favorite sub genres. When Declan and Quinn first showed up, demanding that their story be told, they showed me something a little different than what many shifter books I've read showed. In my shifter world, submissive wolves don't feel the need to move up in the pack. They simply don't feel the need to demonstrate their dominance. Thus, they're perfectly willing to follow dominant wolves. But that doesn't mean they are wimps. When pressed or threatened, submissive wolves are totally capable of fighting and even killing.
As for how I came up with the concept...like I said, Declan and Quinn showed up and wouldn't let me sleep until their story was on paper.
*What are the pro's and con's to being an Erotica author?
There are lots of pros to being an erotica author! Of course, I get to write exactly what I see in my mind instead of couching it in softer, more discrete terms. Also, erotic romance is an up and coming market.
There are cons as well. There are always those people who will judge you for what you write and I find myself being very careful around certain people. And looking your mother in the eye after she's read your books is kind of embarrassing at first.
But in the end, you push those cons aside because not writing is simply not an option.
*What has been the most interesting comment/review about your books?
I had someone e-mail me, telling me that her husband loved it when she read my books because he always got lucky after. It made me blush but I'm glad I could help.
*Who would you say has inspired you in your life the most?
There's a number of different people who've inspired me in different ways. My mom inspired my love of reading and learning. My dad inspired me with his work ethic. My husband inspires me daily with his outlook on life and my kids are just inspirational...yeah that's it. Inspirational. Without any of these people in my life, I wouldn't be writing now.
*Who's your favorite author?
J.R. Ward, hands down. I love me some Brothers and I'm so excited for March when her next book comes out, especially since this one features a gay couple (yay for Qhuinn and Blay)! Not only is she an awesome author, the amount that she interacts with her fans in amazing.
*What are you reading now?
I'm just finishing up a re-read of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series (she's another go to author for me) and her follow up book, Iced, is next on my TBR pile.
*I hear there is a sequel of sorts in the works for a couple of Declan and Quinns packmates, can we get any juicy details?
Adam and Cullen's story, Spring Mates, will be included in an anthology coming out in April from Liquid Silver Books. It's a short story and focuses solely on their romance. I've also just started another book featuring a few members of the pack that haven't been introduced yet, Micah and Shea. Both will be MM stories and Micah and Shea's story is turning out to be pretty steamy

Redeemed

The angel Gabriel has been expelled from Heaven due to pride and a lack of compassion for the humans he has been tasked with guiding. The only way to be re-instated into Heaven is to get a human to fall in love with him and give up their life for him. Gabe resigns himself to a long, mortal life since he has no desire to become intimate, either physically or emotionally, with a human, whom he thinks are below him.

Josh is a brilliant, young cardiothoracic surgeon who has been hurt by a boyfriend before. When he meets Gabe, the man with the name of an angel and the face to match, he is convinced to give a relationship another chance.

Will Gabe be able to overcome his pride and let himself fall for the surgeon or will Josh be hurt all over again? *amazon.com*

  2. This sounds like a terrific read! I loved the interview, it was most informative and interesting. I do think that work needs to be done on the rafflecoppter though! There are problems with entering for some of us. Facebook will not allow me to like anymore pages and that is not my fault. Also the author's blog has no way to follow it, so perhaps the author should be made aware of this so we can follow her through e-mail or through joining! Thanks for sharing this story with us; it sounds so good and I can't wait to read it!
