Born and raised in rural Australia, Shaye Evans is a proud bestselling author of inspirational, sexy M/M fiction and its many sub-genres for new adult and adults. At age nineteen, Shaye found her love in the genre when she read her first M/M and was instantly hooked, but it took her an entire year to begin writing her own. 

While weaving inspiration through her work is Shaye's main goal, you'll also often find touches of spark in her projects that will leave you hanging for more. Author Q&A with Shaye Evans Part I

Where are you from, and where do you call home?  

I’m a proud Australian and live near the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, but I crave the scenery and land of Darwin in the Northern Territory. I love the beach and the heat.

What inspired you to start writing? 

This is kind of embarrassing, as I know not everyone agrees that The Twilight Saga is the best way to start writing, but it was what got me writing. Before I read the series, I wouldn’t touch a book, let alone want to write one. After I finished Eclipse, I began writing my own stuff and four months later I had written 200,000 words. I then began writing Twilight fanfiction which soon turned into roleplay which eventually turned into my own stories. But it was Daisy Harris who inspired me to write M/M. One book and I was hooked to the genre.

How long have you been writing? 

Going on seven years now, but for the last one and a half I’ve written M/M.

What advice would you give a new writer just starting out? 

Where to start… Write what you love and want to explore. Ignore the people who tell you what to write, but always consider other people’s opinions on your work. They might be actually trying to help you. Read lots. Study your craft and try and try and find an author to work one-on-one with. You’ll learn heaps!
