@TTCBooksandmore 12 Days of #giveaway Event | Day 10 Author Charlie Cochet @Dreamspinners @charliecochet

Happy Holidays and welcome to the TTC Books and more 12 Days of Giveaways Event!

I've teamed up with 12 amazing Authors to put together 12 days of fun that will include promos, spotlights, reviews, special Christmas guest posts and... giveaways! Each day starting today and going through December 23rd will spotlight a different Author, and each Author is offering up a giveaway on their day. You could win e-books, giftcards, swag and more. For day 10 I've got several books in a unique Christmas themed series from Author Charlie Cochet, the North Pole City Tales!

  • North Pole City Tales book 1 - Mending Noel

All is not sparkly snowflakes and sweet candy canes in North Pole City. Office workers Tim and Noel do nothing all day but antagonize each other—petty fighting that might be based on hatred… or a heated mutual attraction. It’s up to Jack Frost and his elf-friend Rudy to broach the hostilities and introduce some Christmas kisses, but is the Frost Prince up to the challenge of launching a new romance when someone’s trying to break his holiday spirit?

    •  Mending Noel is a Christmas tale with a fun twist. All your favorite characters like Jack Frost, Rudy, the elves and toy soldiers are people in this version. North Pole City isn't all presents, pretty little elves filling Santa's sleigh and parties with spiked egg nog. Jack Frost is the closeted Prince in a hidden long term relationship with the fastest flyer in the land, Rudy Reindeer. When a couple of residents, Tim and Noel, stumble upon some traitors to the City that seem to be working with the Mouse King, they inadvertently bring Jack and Rudy in on their trouble. The four of them will have to set their differences aside and work together if they are going to save North Pole City from the Mouse King. And more importantly, mend two relationships, one broken, and one bent.

    • I had so much fun listening to this crazy tale, written by Charlie Cochet and brought to life with Dave Gillies voice. I've always thought that Gillies voice was jolly, upbeat and energetic and all that came through crisply in the story. The twist on the classic tale was odd, but I found myself completely engrossed in the story about five minutes in. I especially enjoyed the little game of cat and MOUSE at the end. See what I did there?

Perfect little Holiday story, well written and well conveyed by Dave Gillies. Left a smile on my face, and I can't wait to start the next story in this fun Christmas themed series.

North Pole City Tales book 2 - The Heart of Frost

    • At the North Pole, no one is more powerful and feared than the Prince of Frost. As general of the toy soldier army, Jack Frost has been working extra hard to put away the villainous Mouse King once and for all. If that isn’t taxing enough, Jack has to deal with the scandal and gossip brought on by news of his relationship with Rudy Rein Dear, captain of the Rein Dear Squadron, which hit headlines last holiday season. Lucky for Jack, his reputation has managed to deter any foolish attempts to stir up trouble. At least until now.

When someone sabotages Rudy’s plane during a test run a few weeks before Christmas, Jack is determined to find the culprit by any means necessary. The closer he gets to finding answers, the more difficulty he has not falling back to his icy ways. Has the Mouse King stepped up his game in order to throw Jack off his, or is someone a little closer to home behind the attempt on Rudy’s life? Either way, Jack has every intention of delivering a Christmas they won’t soon forget, even if it means losing the newfound warmth in his heart.

Jack Frost is known for his volatile temper throughout the kingdom. Since Rudy Reindeer and Jack become lovers, Jack’s heart has grown warm and his bedside manner is much more friendly. When Rudy’s plane is sabotaged and Rudy is almost killed, the Frost Prince of old makes an appearance, but at what cost. While Jack will stop at nothing to uncover who tried to kill his lover, the cold begins to seep its way back into his heart, and Rudy fears he will lose Jack to the power he has learned to keep at bay.

This story was much more gripping and detailed than the first. I liked that Tim and Noel were characters in the background, but Jack and Rudy take center stage. You know that saying, absolute power corrupts absolutely? That is sort of the moral of this story. The power Jack can wield is absolute and destructive. With Rudy in his life showing him he is worthy of love, Jack has learned how to turn the darkness off. But Jack resorts to that darkness to try and uncover the plot to kill his lover, and he just may lose the thing he loves most in the end, Rudy.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I was on the edge of my seat for most of this book. It was a Christmas caper mystery! And I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love this fantasy world that is wrapped in holiday cheer that Cochet has created for the series. I’m happy that Robert Nieman continues to sit in the narrators chair as well. He has already given voice to many of the characters that flowed effortlessly over into this book, and having listened to the first book, I knew who was who just by the tone and nuance he used, even before their name was mentioned.

This is just a fun little series with amazing characters, somewhat suspenseful storylines and fantastic scenery. I can’t wait to start Vixen’s story next!

North Pole City Tales book 3 - Vixen's Valor

    • Rein Dear is a prestigious title, accompanied by admiration, devotion, and celebrity status, all of which one saucy Vixen thrives on. Alas, Vixen’s only concerned with having fun, unlike his stuffy and sensible best friend, Rudy Rein Dear, who Vixen has always been jealous of. Aside from being chosen by Mayor Kringle to be Captain the Rein Dear Squadron, Rudy’s managed to snag himself a prince, even if that prince is the dangerous and imposing Jack Frost.

All’s not lost for Vixen though. He discovers Jack’s cousin Vale has a soft spot for him. Vale Frost might not be a dashing prince, but he’s the next best thing: a decorated Lieutenant for the Toy Soldier Army, and a member of the Frost monarchy.

Determined to get what Vixen feels he deserves, he sets off on a mission to ensnare the kind-hearted lieutenant. But Vixen’s selfish ways are sure to lead to disaster, and it’ll take more than a little courage to set things right.

    • Tams Review

Vixen revels in the recognition and admiration he receives as one of the Rein Dear. But what Vixen really longs for is a Prince, and everything that comes with being on the arm of one. Vale Frost is certainly fits the bill, and he adores Vixen to boot. The more time the two spend together, Vixen starts to realize that he wants something far more precious from Vale, he wants his love. When Vixen unknowingly tells a secret Vale entrusted him with to the wrong person, Vale is crestfallen and sends Vixen away. By now though, Vixen has fallen in love with his tall, dark and handsome Toy Soldier and he won’t walk away that easily, even if it kills him.

I so enjoyed watching Vixen go from a slightly spoiled brat, anxious to sink his claws into Vale for the recognition and fame it will bring him… to a strong and confident young man, that was willing to sacrifice himself if it meant Vale would just look at him with love in his eyes one more time. So much personal growth for him in so few pages. Vale is literally Prince Charming with his magical wind song that lures Vixen to him. Both men became stronger and more confident just being with each other.

Robert Nieman is sticking with the narrating and I hope that holds as more books come out. What was most notable for me in this book was how both men continually evolved and grew in the story, and how Nieman captured that in the way he voiced them. The tones and inflections early on were shy and even a bit scared. Then as the story progressed and especially at the end, the tones and inflections grew stronger and more assured.

My favorite of the series so far, though I’ve really enjoyed them all. A winter wonderland fantasy theme with some strife and a whole lot of romance to keep these elves, soldiers and princes nice and toasty warm.

    • North Pole City Tales book 4 - Loving Blitz

    • From North Pole City to Winter Wonderland, preparations are underway after a royal announcement sweeps everyone into a frenzy of festivity. At the heart of the celebration are the city’s most beloved elf pilots, the Rein Dears. Once the Big Flight is behind them, the pilots prepare for the royal event. Assigned a special task of finding an Elska rose, Cupid and Blitzen are unaware of how their friendship is about to change forever.

Yet not all that glitters is gold. The sweet, angelic Cupid hides a dark secret, one that threatens to destroy his Rein Dear status, his friends, and the elf who’s captured his heart. It’s up to Blitzen to help Cupid see the light in the darkness and show him that together they can mend broken hearts.

North Pole City Tales book 5 - Disarming Donner
    • Happy Release day!!!

    • As a beloved Rein Dear and Christmas elf for Mayor Kringle, Donner prides himself on his flawless reputation, good sense, and wise decisions. Donner never does anything until he’s thought it through properly. He’s certainly not one to get flustered, infuriated, or fall prey to romantic nonsense. At least not until the most unlikely of elves begins chipping away at Donner’s defenses.

Calder is a Dockalfar—a dark elf. He’s wicked, untrustworthy, and armed with lethal magic. At least that’s what everyone thinks. It’s easy for them to believe the worst and mistrust him before they’ve even spoken to him, but Calder is out to prove that he’s more than his Dockalfar blood, especially to a certain Rein Dear who has caught his eye. But it will take more than sweet words for Donner to admit what’s in his heart.

A Special Christmas Guest Post with Author Charlie Cochet...

Hello, all! Thank you so much for joining me here today, and a big thank you to TTC Books and More for having me. As we plunge into the holiday season and we run around getting things ready to celebrate with friends and family, we often find ourselves needing to take little time out for ourselves. I know I certainly do. In the middle of preparing holiday meals, gift shopping, travel, all the hustling and bustling, there’s nothing better than just curling up with a warm fuzzy blanket, your favorite drink, and just being. It’s also that wonderful time for holiday movies, music, and books.

In 2012 I sort of started my own little Christmas story tradition. Dreamspinner Press published Mending Noel, a sweet little novella about Christmas elves up at the North Pole. It became the first in the North Pole City Tales series, each story released in December. This year is our fifth December with Disarming Donner. I wanted this series to capture the sights, scents, and sounds of Christmas. North Pole City is a Christmas town filled with quaint little old school shops decorated in twinkling lights where the scents of Christmas waft through the doors, and tantalizing treats are on display, from mince pies and sugar cookies, to mulled wine and peppermint hot chocolate. Carols can be heard in the nippy air, and the jingling of bells can be heard from the horse drawn sleighs. And of course, what’s a holiday story without a little romance?

Here’s to snuggling up by the fire, or the looped video of the fireplace on the big screen if you’re in Florida like me. May you have a wonderful holiday season, and a fabulous new year!
