Surrendering by Michelle Horst Promo Tour @EJBookPromos @MichelleAHorst

Title: Surrendering
Author: Michelle Horst
Genre: Second Chance Romance
Available on Kindle Unlimited

Liam Wright is the playboy at college. He’s part of the screw-crew.

It’s better to stay away from him, but you can’t tell your heart what to want.
He’ll judge me.

He won’t understand.

It’s easy to judge someone because of their past. I’m scared Liam will be just like all the other people.

But he doesn’t judge me. He comes into my life and refuses to leave. He doesn’t give up on me.

He helps me accept the guilt that lives inside of me, because it also lives inside of him.

We’re both damaged by the past.

We’re both looking for someone who will understand.

We’re both looking for someone we can surrender to.

But it’s hard surrendering all your broken pieces.

Reignited by Colleen Houck Book Nerd Tour | Tams Review, spotlight & #giveaway @JeanBookNerd @ColleenHouck

A sibling rivalry.
A forbidden romance.
A spell that changes everything.

In Heliopolis secrets abound and passions ignite as chaos rises.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Tiger’s Curse series and Reawakened comes a novella full of celestial marvel, passion, betrayal, and evil that will grow to reign over humanity forever.

Before Lily and Amon met, before the cosmos was in chaos and needed three brave brothers to fight off evil, there were four siblings who helped rule the earth.

Each sibling had a special gift. Osiris, the god of agriculture, helped mortals to grow and thrive in their natural environment. Isis, the goddess of creation, fostered health and wellness. Nephthys, the seer, was able to keep the balance between all living beings and the universe. But Seth, the youngest sibling, was left without any special powers. The Waters of Chaos, which granted each god’s talent, were running dry, and Seth was paying the price.

As time passed, however, Seth’s determination and willfulness resulted in a very special gift, one that should have granted him the ability to enact wondrous change. But Seth’s competitive childhood gave him a heart so cold and vacant that instead, his gift brought about great evil.

Seth was now the god of unmaking, the creator of disorder and destruction. And he was ready to seek his revenge, dominating all who got in his way.

"The author weaves her story out of Egyptian lore, cinematic magic, selfless love, and . . . is clever enough to remain surprising even to the last sentence."—Kirkus Reviews

“Houck’s moving depiction of the love between Lily and Amon is memorable."—Publishers Weekly

"Wonderfully written and…the heart-pounding adventures are topped only by the heart-melting romance."—The Deseret News

"A sparkling new novel with a fully imagined world and mythos, and crackling romance! Egyptian mythology has never been this riveting!"—Aprilynne Pike, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Wings series, on Reawakened, book one in the series

Having not read the original trilogy, I was worried I might miss something. Instead, this novella has fueled my need to go and read that trilogy. This really is no surprise given how very much I enjoyed the Tiger's Curse series. I really do love the way this Author can take known things, whether that be places, cultures or myths, and twist them to fit her story, add her flare. The Egyptian mythology in this book was very appealing and engaging.

The various characters were three dimensional, not wooden, each flawed in some way which gave them depth. And the way their paths connect is interesting. The romance in the story is intense and, at times, heart breaking. It's difficult to say too much more without giving something away, it's a short story after all. I will say that Osiris and Isis will stick with me for a long time and I'm anxious to read the original trilogy to get to know more about their relationship.

If you are a fan of the Author or any of her works, you'll obviously love this as it has her trademark stamp on it. Romance, intrigue, suspense and a twist that only Colleen Houck can deliver.

Locked and Loaded (Death and Destruction book 4) by Patricia Logan | Cat's 5 Star Review & #giveaway #mmromance @PatriciaLogan1

Locked and Loaded
Death and Destruction book 4

ATF agents Thayne Wolfe and Jarrett Evans are back and this time, they’ll be facing a familiar foe. International arms dealer, Mills Lang, has acquired a stolen cache of tabun, a powerful nerve agent, to sell to the highest bidder. The last thing either Thayne or Jarrett wants to do is get involved with the psychopath again but duty calls. Jarrett is sent in undercover as an Iranian who’s looking to trade cold hard cash to stop the deadly weapon’s sale only to learn he has to bid against the world’s nastiest scumbags.

Thayne has spent countless nights lost in the nightmare of what happened when he’d been undercover in Lang’s organization. The time has come to face old demons and save thousands of lives, putting Lang down like the rabid animal he is. Unfortunately, the assignment requires Thayne to sit helplessly on the sidelines, forced to watch the man he loves put himself in the monster’s path.

Jarrett has revenge on his mind. Holding Thayne when he’s woken screaming from nightmares, he wants the mad man responsible, behind bars or better yet, dead. Unfortunately, the assignment involves getting close to a former lover. Gorgeous Mossad agent, Adael Dayan, is Jarrett’s only way into Lang’s circle with Thayne forced to watch from the sidelines. Thayne and Jarrett have faced the Devil before, but always together. Will this case drive a wedge between them or will their love endure?

Cat gives this one 5 Meows  with a 5 Purr heat index...

This series gets better with each book. This one once again has Jarrett in primary focus. That's a good thing too! Jarrett is an ex-marine-ex-mercenary a bad ass bodyguard and now an ATF agent. And he has an accent. (I have a thing for accents).

This story also brings us back to Mills Lang from the first book, a devious firearms dealer. This time he has Tabun a deadly nerve gas and is selling it to the highest bidder. Dayum (an ex-lover of Jarrett's) from book two is also back and has Thayne jealous as he is going undercover with Jarrett instead of Thayne.

There is a lot much mystery, suspense and twists, and turns. There is still a traitor out there somewhere, and it's inside either the FBI or ATF. There were some quite chilling scenes and some very creative action.  Of course, we had the scorching sex scenes with Thayne and Jarrett as well. I cannot wait for the next book, though right now this is my favorite of the series.

If you like drama, action, suspense, mystery, Ex-military men, mercenaries, and some smoking hot man-sex I highly recommend this one.

Fire Triangle by Iyana Jenna | Cat's Review & #giveaway @IyanaJenna

While investigating a house fire, Detective Miles Tucker uncovers a similar case twenty years prior. Digging deeper, Miles learns that a survivor from the earlier fire might have some answers to his questions.

As a boy, Devin Treadwell survived a fire that wiped out his entire family. The trauma he suffered left him in a mental institution, but he has since made a full recovery and, though partially deaf and mute, now lives an independent life as a music teacher.

Devin's life is disrupted when the handsome Miles suspects him of being a serial arsonist. But he wasn't the only survivor. A boy named Sebastian who had been adopted by Devon's family also survived the blaze.

Then an attempt is made on Devin's life. Can Miles keep Devin safe from an arsonist who will stop at nothing to silence him? Or will the attraction between them jeopardize the investigation?

Cat gives this one 4 Stars...

Miles and his partner Nick are investigating an eerie fire when they discover it was similar to one twenty years ago.  While investigating they meet Devin the only survivor of that fire, he was six at the time and is Deaf and Mute.

The story is told in third person and in the view of Miles, Devin, and the killer.  I loved that we got the killers' reasons and feelings as well as the other characters. My only complaint is that I wish the story were longer and we got more of Miles and Devin. The building romance between them seemed a bit rushed.

If you like sexy fire investigators, a good mystery/suspense that is sweet and clean you will like this story.

Reading, watching movies, and being unable to find exactly the thing she wanted to read have led Iyana to write her own stories, mostly about man-on-man romance that has fascinated her since as early as the Starsky and Hutch era. Teaching and writing English course books during the day, Iyana spends her nights mostly dreaming about love stories between two men who are protective toward each other.

Thomas, an older gay musician living in a small Southern town, is ready to start a family. He fosters Jeremy, a special needs boy with no arms, and teaches him to play the drums so Jeremy can realize his potential to do anything he wants. Though it takes time, Thomas’s closeted boyfriend Randy steps out of the shadows to be part of what Thomas is working to build. With the advent of marriage equality, it’s a different world in the Deep South—one where the three of them have the chance to be a family.

Yet no one said it would be easy, and they soon learn the foster care system is far from perfect.

Just as Jeremy begins to settle in and thrive, his biological father reappears, demanding custody. Thomas and Randy know the man is unfit to care for Jeremy, but the law says otherwise. It seems they’re the only ones looking out for Jeremy’s best interests, and they face an uphill battle if they want to keep their new family together.

Cat gives this one 5 Meows...

Warning: This story does hint at child abuse. It does not go into gruesome detail. Also be sure to grab at least two boxes of tissue this is an ugly cry book! Don't worry the ending is satisfying!

Thomas is in his fifties and wanting to start a family.  His boyfriend  Randy is still in the closet, so he takes the step himself.  Thomas decided to take children with disabilities since they are harder to pace. It has been a while since he applied but one day he gets the call for a seven-year-old boy that was born with no arms.

Jeremy is such a sweet kid. He deals very hard with being put in Thomas's home. He doesn't understand about his mom's death. he keeps thinking she is coming back for him. Jeremy is lovable and heartbreaking. I adored the way Nick Wilgus made Jeremy vulnerable yet strong. The kid could do things with his feet I would never be able to do.  Thomas teaches him to play the drums.

All of the characters in the story are amazing, but I think Jeremy and Thomas steal the show. The story line is intriguing, poignant, at times heartbreaking but in the end, it makes you smile. Getting there takes quite a bit of tissue! I began this book not knowing what to expect and didn't want to put it down. The story is written in multiple views. I loved this. We even got the viewpoint of Jeremy and Derek another homeless boy. I will warn you Jeremy's view has a few squick factors but keep in mind, life isn't always sunshine and roses and I felt this was done tastefully.

If you like poignant, angsty stories, older man adopting, gay adoption, sweet kids, disabilities, an ugly cry, and a beautiful romance thrown in you will love this story

Excerpt...

He was going to surprise her!
Shivering from the early December cold and naked as the day he was born, he went to the bedroom next to hers in the back of the trailer. Using his toes, he picked up a pair of pajama bottoms from the floor and spread them out on the unmade bed. Then he sat on the bed and wriggled his legs into the fabric. He continued to wriggle until he got the pajama bottoms up and over his waist, where they hung loosely.
In the kitchen, he used his foot to scoot the stool over to the fridge, trying to be very quiet. He wasn’t supposed to use the stove by himself, but Mama was being silly. He’d cooked plenty of times while she watched and nothing had ever happened. He wasn’t going to “burn the house down.” Since today was her birthday, and since she’d been feeling bad lately and had been drinking rather too much—he looked at the numerous empty vodka bottles on the counter and frowned—he wanted to make breakfast so she’d have something nice to wake up to.
He opened the freezer with his chin and retrieved sausage links by grasping the package with his teeth. He placed them in a bowl on the counter. Then, very carefully, he grasped an egg in his mouth and placed it in the bowl. He moved the stool closer to the stove. Seated, he reached across the stove with his foot to turn on a gas burner and smiled when the small flame roared to life.
So far, so good.
Getting the oil into the frying pan was harder, but he managed. He unscrewed the cap from the bottle of oil with his toes, lifted the bottle with both feet, and poured a small amount in the pan. Next he put three sausage links into the pan, listened with satisfaction as they sizzled and popped. The smell of sausage filled the kitchen.
He didn’t have money to buy Mama a present, but she would like breakfast. He knew she would. She liked it when he was “sweet,” when he brought her flowers he’d picked from the woods or when he sat with her in the bath or snuggled at night and kissed her bare breasts the way she liked.
Christmas was coming too, and he didn’t want her to be sad over the holidays. He’d asked her if Santa was coming this year, and she said she didn’t think so but they’d make do. He’d told her that was okay, not because it was okay but because he didn’t want her to be upset. And anyway, Santa wasn’t very reliable, and Mama said she’d try to make sure there was something under the tree for him and Santa could just get stuffed. “We don’t need Santa, do we?” she had said. Jeremy had replied they did not. Not because he didn’t want Santa to come, but because it made Mama so sad when he talked about it.
“Santa doesn’t like us very much,” his mama would always say.
He looked at the egg in the bowl. That was the tricky thing. Breaking the egg right. Not spilling it. Then using the spatula to get it out of the pan before it burned.
He picked up the egg with both feet, pivoting his body to swing over to the stove. In his haste, he’d forgotten the bottle of cooking oil sitting next to the stove where he’d left it. When he swung his feet, he knocked over the oil, which flopped on its side and began to empty itself onto the top of the stove.
He froze.
Oil on the stove was bad. He knew that. Could cause a fire.
But….
The oil seeped out of the bottle, spread out across the top of the stove, and headed for the open flame.
Frightened, he dropped the egg, intending to immediately switch off the burner with his left foot. But when he dropped the egg, the oil splattered into the burner he was using.
Fire leapt from the stove with a sudden, hot ferociousness.
He jerked his feet away, lost his balance on the stool, and crashed to the floor.
For a long moment, he lay there, stunned.
The fire shot up, spread.
“Mama!” he cried at last, scrambling to his feet. “Mama!”
