I loved the title of this book and cover. The blurb had me very excited as well. Even though I hadn't read the first bookThe other reviews seemed to say it stood alone. I guess you can say it does since the first book is about Alex and Lincoln. For me, the book started out slow, and I felt I lost. The story kept mentioning things in Dakotas past, and it mentioned them a lot. I will even admit that at times I thought about marking it DNF, BUT I have to admit I really wanted to know this deep dark secret of Dakota's so I kept pushing on.
Now having said that, I am glad that I did finish. I am a character reader, and I loved both Trystan and Dakota. I found them unique. Trystan is a spoiled rich child used to get his way, and he wanted Dakota. He wanted him bad enough his actions bordered on stalking. Alex and Lincoln Tristan's friends added some humor to the darkness of the story. Dakota is hiding from a dark past, and some of Trystan's actions trigger his anxiety.
Add in a bit of BDSM which is unusual in new adult books, and you get some scorching sex scenes. These alone made the story worth reading, and I will say the last twenty percent of the book made me glad I continued.
If you like New Adult sports romance, dark romance, BDSM, rough sex, don't mind some violence, like animals and a romance with a satisfying ending You should like this one.
