Close To Home (Sawyer’s Ferry Book 4) by Cate Ashwood| Cat’s Release Day Review & #giveaway @ cateashwood @TTCBooksandmore

Witt

I excelled at two things: systems engineering and going completely unnoticed.
The engineering took work and determination. The invisibility came naturally. Until one day, the wrong person noticed me. Battered and broken, I fled, escaping to Sawyer’s Ferry and the only friends I’d ever had.

Now, I just needed to figure out what I was going to do next.

Mason

Life was good. I had a great job, good friends, and a family who loved me. Even my roommate was decent. At least he was until he let his nudist brother come to visit. The opportunity to house-sit and help an injured friend couldn’t have come at a better time.

All I’d needed was to avoid an awkward situation for a few days, but I got more than I bargained for when my entire uncomplicated life flipped upside down. The last thing I’d been looking for was love, but it wasn’t until Witt that I realized just how much I’d been missing out on.

Cat gives this one 4 Meows with a 3 Purr heat index...

This is book four in the Sawyer’s Ferry series and each book is as good as the last. Though Frankie is my favorite character, there was something I loved about Witt and of course Mason is pretty darn hot.

This book starts out suspenseful and heartbreaking with Witt driving, broken and bleeding and trying to escape something. We get a little bit of Holden and Gage in this one, plus Barrett and Frankie too. There is mention of Jackson’s brother which I am sure is to set up for a future book and we get some Brody which is a set up for the next book in this series.

I loved Witt and Mason together. This story is more of a slow burn as Witt heals, Mason nurtures him and they develop a friendship, then a romance in a few short weeks. I love how Cate always finds a way to inject a touch of humor or Witt in a story and in this one there are Mason’s roommate’s nudist brother and girlfriend.  Then we have does of Frankie that also adds some humor as well.  This is more a story of getting out of abuse, trying to rebuild life and heal and finding love.

As much as I loved the story, I felt it was a bit rushed. I wouldn’t have minded a little longer story to have found out more why Silus had it in for Witt especially enough to come after him once he escaped. I suppose that there are people that are just bullies and there is no real reason. There was also mention of family issues we never got as well that kept me wondering why Witt liked to be unnoticed. Having said that I still absolutely loved this story as we as the series and cannot wait for the next one.

If you like coming out, friends to lovers, a virgin, tight-knit communities, and a sweet but hot romance, you will love this.

Cate discovered her love for books of all kinds early on, but romance is where her heart truly lies. She is addicted to the happily ever afters and the journey the characters take to get there. Currently residing in White Rock, B.C, Cate loves living just a stone's throw from the ocean. When she's not writing, she can be found consuming coffee at an alarming rate while wrangling her toddler, her husband, and their two cats.

Cate loves to hear from readers. You can find her here:
