“Those five months away. Where were you, mukka?” (Jack Harrison)

In the aftermath of Jack Harrison’s release from the psychiatric unit, Gray Raoul’s innate “born this bastard way” instinct is to brutally repay the one responsible for financing Jack and Jan’s torturous psychological reconditioning. But that person is a professional player in their own right, one who knows exactly how to manipulate everyone in Gray’s life. To help negotiate this delicate situation, Gray seeks to contract Trace and his ex-Diadem Dom, Gabriel Hunter. But the more Gray seems to regain control, the clearer it becomes that there’s something not quite right about Jan Richards.

As Jan’s world unravels, taking Jack and Gray with it and bringing out one particular deadly player, Gray’s left with one last defence: Break Jack down in order to partner up with Martin. But once freed, Martin’s out for retribution of his own, and he wants to get downright personal with Gray.

Complete trust between Master, sub, and lover, between Gray, Jack, and Jan - is about to be tested to the absolute limit.

Cat gives this one 5 Meows Overall with a 4 Purr heat index...

Just when you think the twists and turns can't get more shocking, just when you think you are getting a conclusion perhaps a finally well-deserved happily ever after or at least for now...DON'T.  Sorry, I just couldn't resist that.

But this should tell you enough.  Gray is trying to find out who has financed the events in the previous books that have left both Jack and Jan broken trying to mend.,  and we find that Jan has his own secrets and that his life in a way sets a lot of this mess inadvertently in motion.    and if you thought the last was the biggest shock you were gonna get and it couldn’t get much twisty... Don't!

I listened to the series on audio and I highly suggest you do too. Dan Calley gives the characters such depth, so much emotion and the accents just bring that special, secret, dark feel to the story... so on the Audio If you can...DO!

Jack blames her dark writing influences on living close to one of England's finest forests. Having grown up hearing a history of kidnappings, murders, strange sightings, and sexual exploits her neck of the woods is renowned for, Jack takes that into her writing, having also learned that human coping strategies for intense situations can sometimes make the best of people have disastrously bad moments. Redeeming those flaws is a drive, and if that drive just happens to lead to sexual tension between two or more guys, Jack's the first to let nature take its course. Two of Jack's works, Don't... and Antidote (Don't... book 2) have picked up Honorable Mention Awards at the 2013 (Don't) and 2014 (Antidote) Rainbow Awards. Antidote was also a finalist (Rainbow Awards 2014).
