The path from retail middle management to interdimensional wizard adventurer wasn’t easy, but Jason Asano is settling into his new life.

Now, a contest draws young elites to the city of Greenstone, competing for a grand prize. Jason must gather a band of companions if he is to stand a chance against the best the world has to offer.

While the young adventurers are caught up in competition, the city leaders deal with revelations of betrayal as a vast and terrible enemy is revealed. Although Jason seems uninvolved, he has unknowingly crossed the enemy’s path before. Friends and foes made along the way will lead him to cross it again as inevitable conflict looms.

Cat gives this Audiobook 4 meows for the story & 4 meows for the performance; HE WHO FIGHTS WITH MONSTERS 2: A LitRPG Adventure by Shirtaloon gets 4 meows overall...

This is a book two and should be read/ listened to in order. It picks up from the first book. I have not listened to the first so I did not know who Jason was, how he got to where they are or how he became a monster fighter. I did not take off anything in my review for anything that affected since that was on me.

This story is about Jason and a group of people that fights monsters. Each team member has special powers they accumulate along the way called essences. These become a part of the person and some can even be used to help team members. They also have to have awakening stones to wake up the powers they find or earn or buy.

In book one Jason captures ( saves) a thief and her friend. He gives her the choice to flee or become his indentured servant and part of the adventurers.

T by err are so many cool characters in this book. I loved Sophie and Jason. Jason is so cocky and funny and Sophie really badass.
The storyline is interesting and the plots good too. There is tons of action.

The narration is good. I loved the acting of the characters. The narrator had his job cut out as there are so many and as many female as male.
This was my only issue with the narration as some of the female voices came off sounding like male or a bit odd.
If you like fantasy, sci-fi, action/adventure and twists this is for you!

In the middle of penning a dry academic paper, Shirtaloon had a revelation: he desperately needed to write something very silly. To his surprise and delight, he found a warm and welcoming audience in the world of online serialized fiction. Transitioning his work into actual books, he is continually startled at the appetite for his particular blend of high magic, wild adventure and absurd nonsense. Success has allowed him to fund an excessive board game collection he doesn’t have time to play because he’s always writing. The unplayed games sit on the shelves behind him as he works, silently judging.

Cat gives this 5 Meows overall...

I love this series. It’s so fresh and keeps you laughing all the while trying to figure out who is next to be murdered and who is doing it. There is always lots of suspects, lots of twist and the sweet romance between Nicky and Noah. This one was always a favorite as we meet little Taavi and fall in love.

The narration is way good. I love the pacing, the tones and how it’s more acting than reading. I think if your looking for a funny M/M cozy, this series is it, and what better beach read than one that is set in Hawaii?!

Cat's Review of Rescue Me by Andrew Grey @AndrewGreyBooks @TTCBooksandmore

Everybody needs to be rescued sometimes.

Veterinarian Mitchell Brannigan gets off to a rocky start with his new neighbor when someone calls the town to complain about the noise. Mitchell runs a shelter for rescue dogs, and dogs bark. But when he goes to make peace, he meets Beau Pfister and his fussy baby daughter, Jessica… and starts to fall in love.

Beau moved out to the country to get away from his abusive ex-husband, but raising an infant alone, with no support network, is lonely and exhausting. The last thing he expects is a helping hand from the neighbor whose dogs he complained about.

Mitchell understands what it’s like to live in fear of your ex, and he’s determined to help Beau move on. But when an unseen menace threatens the shelter and Beau, it becomes apparent that he hasn’t dealt with his own demons.

With each other and a protective Chihuahua for support, Mitchell, Beau, and Jessica could make a perfect family. Mitchell won’t let anything happen to them.

But who’s going to rescue him?

Cat Gives this 5 Meows with a 1 purr heat index...

Andrew Grey comes up with the best characters, and has really outdone himself here with these two broken men.

Mitchell is out of an abusive relationship and throws himself into his vet practice and rescue center. His mom left him the farm and he uses several acres for his rescue center where he brings dogs no one no longer wants, the owners want to put down or the police find in bad situations.

Beau is recently divorced from an abusive man and his best friend died leaving him her daughter in her will. No he is starting a new life with him and the cute baby girl. He buys a house I. A peaceful neighborhood until he hears dog barking all the time. He calls the cops and the neighbor comes to apologize. They become friends but one of their pasts come back causing danger. But whose past is it?

I loved both men, the dogs, the baby, the slow burn of the romance. I also like the touch of mystery that keeps you wondering and the twist at the end is nail biting. I highly recommend if you like hurt/comfort, friends to lovers, cute babies, adorable dogs, and a sweet romance with a hint of mystery

A young woman's escalating obsession with a seemingly perfect man leads her down a dangerous path in this novel of suspense brimming with envy, desire, and deception.

Eyes aren't the windows to the soul. Emails are.

Cassie Woodson is adrift. After suffering an epic tumble down the corporate ladder, Cassie finds the only way she can pay her bills is to take a thankless temp job reviewing correspondence for a large-scale fraud suit. The daily drudgery amplifies all that her life is lacking--love, friends, stability--and leaves her with too much time on her hands, which she spends fixating on the mistakes that brought her to this point.

While sorting through a relentless deluge of emails, something catches her eye: the tender (and totally private) exchanges between a partner at the firm, Forest Watts, and his enchanting wife, Annabelle. Cassie knows she shouldn't read them. But it's just one look. And once that door opens, she finds she can't look away.

Every day, twenty floors below Forest's corner office, Cassie dissects their emails from her dingy workstation. A few clicks of her mouse and she can see every adoring word they write to each other. By peeking into their apparently perfect life, Cassie finds renewed purpose and happiness, reveling in their penchant for vintage wines, morning juice presses, and lavish dinner parties thrown in their stately Westchester home. There are no secrets from her. Or so she thinks.

Her admiration quickly escalates into all-out mimicry, because she wants this life more than anything. Maybe if she plays make-believe long enough, it will become real for her. But when Cassie orchestrates a "chance" meeting with Forest in the real world and sees something that throws the state of his marriage into question, the fantasy she's been carefully cultivating shatters. Suddenly, she doesn't simply admire Annabelle--she wants to take her place. And she's armed with the tools to make that happen.

Cat's Review of 33 Minutes (An Asher Radman Mystery) by John Charles @johncharlesauth @TTCBooksandmore

It only took 33 Minutes for them to die

Three dead, two in critical, but why?  One fact in common - all had purchased their morning coffee from the same place.  Were they the intended victims, were their deaths a cover to ruin the transgendered owner of The Coffee Stop, or were their deaths in vain?

Routine didn't exist for Senior FBI Agent Asher Radman.  He was highly respected and had proven himself with hard unsolvable cases.  To Asher, his job was his life.  Everything else slipped into the background as he worked to solve the impossible cases he was assigned

Despite intensive interviewing of coworkers who knew the victims, Asher was at a loss.  Who was the intended victim?  Was this the start of a serial killing spree?  Was there another reason why the killer poisoned only the regular coffee in The Coffee Stop?  And how did the killer get the poison into the pot of coffee?

To complicate matters, Kyle, his long-term lover had professed his undying love that very morning.  His emotions were running high, but his love for Kyle would have to be put into the container where he held all his personal passions while working a case.  There would be time for him to open that box.  It just wasn't now.

All Asher Radman Mysteries can be read as stand alone novels.

Cat gives this 3 Meows with a 3 purr heat index...

This is an interesting quick read.

My favorite part though this was a mystery was the romance. I loved both Asher and Kyle and found myself wanting more of them. This isn’t the first book in the series and I’d like to find the reading order and read them all to see how Asher and Kyle met ( this has no bearing on my review except that I liked it and want more).

The mystery however I found a little lacking. The premise was great. The opening attention getting and I was intrigued but as the story went along the suspect was found too fast and though the reasoning was good the how and victims just was a bit off to me. Don't get me wrong it was really good and I do think if it was more developed and longer with a couple twists thrown in this could be a five easy.

The romance alone is worth the read so I do recommend mend this book.

When asked why he writes under a pseudonym, he explains it this way, “My birth name was John Charles, but shortly after I was brought home, my parents changed it to Larry.  I never got the real reason and I still have that original birth certificate.”  When he decided to write and publish, he chose to use his birth name – John Charles.

As a youngster, he had trouble reading.  While in college, he learned that he had a form of dyslexia.  When he was taught how to overcome the issues it caused, a new world opened for him.  He now reads constantly.

John loves to read M/M mystery romance as well as action / adventure novels.  He can be found with his Kindle or iPad in his hands most of the time.

He spent years in the technology industry and found himself immersed in writing marketing brochures, and technical and operations manuals.  Writing fiction was not his lifelong dream, but emerged after his youngest went off to college.  The writing bug stuck and now he writes every day.

Being single and living at the beach in southern Delaware has its benefits, too.  You can find him frequently walking along the water’s edge before the rest of the tourists and vacationers have awakened.  He says that the secluded beach time is most precious.

The plots in his novels come from real life situations.  “I have always believed that real life is more interesting than anything a person could make up.  I listen, keep my eyes open, and let the world give me the ideas that make my stories believable and interesting.”

“I find myself enjoying writing more than anything I’ve ever done in my life.”

Cat's Review of Nowhere to Ride by Andrew Grey @andrewgreybooks @TTCBooksandmore

Unjustly accused of a crime, Ky Archer is trying to keep his ranch together, with fierce tenacity and minimal help. With his nefarious accuser the lead wolf at the door, Ky is resolved to do whatever he has to in order to keep the final link with his family intact.

Brodie Tyler is down on his luck--way down. Down enough to camp with his baby sister in a tent to get away from relatives he’d hoped would help him. His parents are gone and he's got nowhere to go, but he’s determined to keep his sister safe with him, no matter what.
Ky finds Brodie and Emily on his property and takes them in out of the storm… literally. Neither expects the heat that ignites between them to be as hot as the western sun. The men find they fit together well, both at work and in the bedroom. They also find they have a common enemy who tries to tear them apart. Working together, they might discover that each holds the key for the other’s desire

Cat Gives this 5 Meows with a 2 purr heat index...

This is your typical Andrew Grey book, Absolute Perfection!

The characters are so well rounded and real. You can feel the emotion oozing off the page.
The plot is interesting and keeps you intrigued and the storylines interesting.

The characters are so good. You have Ky the rough cowboy ( ranch owner) trying to save his legacy from a man that has accused him of killing his son, the man Ky loved and never would hurt. Jacob is ruthless snd trying to buy all the ranches so he owns everything.

His nephew shows up for help with a baby sister and he tries to take the baby. He runs with the baby and Ky finds them trapped in a storm on his property and brings them in. The little one is 18 month old and adds cuteness and charm along with Ky’s three dogs.

You have everything that you would want in this story, hot cowboy, cute kids, cute dogs, a touch of mystery (what really happened to Mason) and a sweet romance. All the feels and, again, perfection!

Fractured Love by Matthew Dante Release blitz with Cat's Review @GayBookPromo @TTCBooksandmore

What is more dangerous than a man in love? A man in love who feels betrayed.

Marc and Alex have been best friends since childhood. When Marc was fourteen, tragedy struck, and he found himself suddenly orphaned. Having no living relatives, Marc moved in with Alex and his family, who happily opened their hearts and their home to him.

Five years have passed since the tragedy, and Marc’s love and devotion for his best friend has only intensified… some would say, to an almost obsessive level…

Alex’s life is suddenly turned upside down when he is forced to make an impossible decision. Alex quickly learns that Marc’s love for him goes much deeper than just friendship. Alex begins to wonder, just how far is Marc willing to go in the name of love? And more terrifyingly, how dangerous is a man in love, who feels… betrayed.

Fractured Love is a dark story of unrequited love, torment, and murder.

Excerpt

Marc was furious. He jumped onto Alex, as Alex struggled beneath his weight. Alex kicked and punched with all his might. He had no idea how strong Marc could be when he was angry.

He felt like he was fighting a total stranger. This was not the man that he spent countless nights cuddling up against. This man was fueled by anger and rage. How long had this rage laid dormant? Or was it always there but hidden from prying eyes?

Marc let out an angry growl and punched Alex in the face. Blood burst from Alex’s nose as Marc’s fist connected firmly with his face. Alex fell backwards defeated. He was no match for the strength and fury of his former best friend.

Marc suddenly jumped down to the ground and grabbed Alex’s body. He yanked his body close to his own and whispered, “Don’t move.”

Alex’s body tightened as he suddenly heard a deep growl from the darkness ahead of him. With Marc’s arms wrapped tight around his body, Alex pressed his back further into Marc’s chest.

They both watched as a large wolf slowly emerged from the darkness. The beast growled, as it slowly made its way towards the two of them. The beast kept its nose close to the ground as it revealed its razor-sharp teeth.

“Don’t move, whatever you do.” Marc whispered in Alex’s ear. Marc gripped Alex even tighter as he held him close to his body. Alex gripped Marc’s arm, terrified, as he waited for the beast to attack.

Matthew Dante is a Canadian indie author who loves to write about magic, fantasy, and romance. He is an avid reader, world traveller, lover of all things Marvel and DC, and a romantic at heart.

Most of his stories center around gay main characters who are usually the love interests and the heroes of these stories. He writes these novels, so that other LGBTQ people will be able to read about characters and stories that they can relate to and be proud of.
