Cat's Review of Rough Contact (The Riptide book 2) by September Author of the Month Beth Bolden @beth_bolden @TTCBooksandmore #giveaway #mmromance

Up first for our Author of the Month is a little spotlight on The Riptide series along with Cat's review of book 2, Rough Contact. Cat is not normally a fan of sports romance books, but judging by her review, I think her mind has been changed!

Their romance is forbidden. Their love is a secret.

Neal Fisher knows heartbreak. It's the clock ticking down in the Super Bowl. It's missing the most important field goal of his life. It's losing everything: his thirteen year career as an NFL kicker, his future, and his pride.

Jamie Wright knows love. It's everything on the line as the crowd holds their breath. It's a perfect kick as the ball soars through the goal posts. It's NFL fame and glory laid out before him.

Neal is on his way out, and Jamie--if he can withstand the tryout pressure-- is on his way in. The one person Jamie should avoid is the veteran kicker, and the last thing Neal wants is to sink Jamie’s chances. But a chance meeting and a wild and undeniable chemistry proves to be irresistible.

Neal thought he knew heartbreak. Jamie thought he knew love.

They were both wrong.

Their romance is forbidden. Their love is a secret.

But if they trust each other, maybe their growing relationship won't end in tragedy. It might even be the beginning of football’s greatest love story.

Jamie has always dreamed of being a kicker and being on the Team his favorite player and crush played on is bittersweet since he will possibly be taking his job. He arrives to find 9 others trying out and that it’s a tough competition and the coaches are making it personal though Neal didn’t lose that kick on his own it had been tipped but it was one of those kicks of a lifetime and after thirteen years the team was out for blood.

Neal was having his own issues over missing that kick, losing his job and the man he thought he loved and loved him back. After hiding out six months his niece decided time for intervention and insisted he go to Dam’s party. Sitting out front hiding yet more he meets a beautiful young man he was drawn to and they begin talking. Then he finds out Jamie is the young kicker trying out for his spot and what the coaching team is doing so he offers to help.

This is such a sweet story. I wouldn’t call it enemies to lovers since Neal and Jamie were never enemies or even rivals.  They do become friends and Jamie does help Neal overcome his loss and move on so maybe hurt/ comfort.

There is some drama as Jamie faces many obstacles, the worse could be having to choose Neal or the dream job.  Now, I’m not huge on sports romance but do read some; that being said, I love Beth Bolden and this story didn’t disappoint!
