Onyx; balanced, strong, a guardian

She’s the voice of reason, advocates, and strategizes.

Supporting the team from the background, Onyx rarely goes out in the field. However, when a widespread child exploitation ring is discovered, her particular skill set is needed to get close.

Unfortunately, her boss—a man she’s never laid eyes on before—is dead set against her taking the lead. Outvoted, he finds a way to keep her in his sights, risking his own exposure.

Cat gives this Book 5 Meows with a 3 Purr heat index...

Hi Y’all! Come in and grab a seat  while I tell you about this book I just read.

The title is Onyx by Freya Barker  it is book 3 in The Gems series. You don’t have to read in order. I didn't and enjoyed just fine..though I bet first two were good and added to my TBR pile. The cover is a bit generic and really didn't tell me much, but I read the blurb and it really got my interest.

Who’s my favorite main character? Hamish, because I love a good mystery man. But I loved Onyx too.

Was there another character I loved and why? I loved Bernie. She was a sweet old lady that easily stole my heart.

The story is a romantic suspense and series finale.

Were there significant plot twists and turns? This entire book is one huge twist. It kept me turning the page.

I loved the ending, it was an HEA and really tied up this series well.

If you like suspense, romance, first love, second-chance, boss/coworker, ex-military, and a slow burn with a little heat, you will love this.

There are some  trigger warnings mentioned so if child slavery, rape, bothers you, skip this one or read with caution.
