Cat's Review of The Drop by Elle Keaton @ellekeatonauthor @neonrainbowarcreviews @tammystwocents X- @TTCBooksandmore

Curiosity might just kill Gabriel Karne after all.

It’s only Monday morning and Gabriel Karne is already knee-deep in murder.

Roy Wilson, a Westfort pastor with a murky past, turns up dead. Was the man a bad guy turned good? Or was he, as Gabe and Elton suspect, still deeply embroiled in the illegal underbelly of Twana County?

Meanwhile, the unsolved murder of Calvin Perkins continues to nag at Casey Lundin. The unlikable man's killer remains at large, and the acting sheriff has no suspects or even a clue to move on. Casey vows to do his best to bring Calvin some sort of justice. Not even Calvin Perkins deserves to be executed and dumped into an unmarked grave.

As it turns out it may be curiosity that kills Casey, and Gabriel can’t rush to his rescue.

It will be fine, everything will be fine.

The Drop is book 4 in the Subtle Deceptions series. It is the final installment in grifter Gabriel Karne's pursuit of nearly legal happiness among the denizens of Heartstone and features: small-town mystery, amateur sleuthing, true love, found family, and a great deal of snark.

Cat gives this book 5 meows...

This is book 4 and the final installment of this series.

I've loved this series and hate to see it end. Hopefully, we havent saw the last of these guys though.

I love the banter and opposite attract aspect of this story. Casey bless him tried to not fall for Gabriel's charm but he did and now they are committed, have a house, a dog and cat, and lots of friends that are family.

Still though dead bodies seem as attracted to Gabe as Casey is and they get wrapped up in yet another mystery that ties up the lose ends to the previous ones. I do encourage you to start at the beginning however its written well enough you maybe able to follow along but with questions of what they are talking about.

I highly recommend this and can't wait for the audio to come out.

If you like grifters, park rangers, meddling old men, odd relatives, small-town mystery, amateur sleuthing, true love, found family, and a great deal of snark, this is for you.

Broken, broody, mysterious, swoony, inclusive; those are my tropes.

It’s my grandmother’s fault! Alice Lee bribed me to read with a Nancy Drew box set—and changed my life forever.

Love at first binge read.

By the time high school rolled around I’d already discovered romantic suspense and gothic romance, and I’ve never looked back. What can I say? My love of mystery and suspense started early and runs deep.

Is there anything better than a character who by the end of the story manages to redeem/heal themselves enough to fall in love? No, there isn’t.

Fast forward to 2017 when, with a shaky finger, I pressed the Publish button for the first time. I’ve never regretted it. I love writing and telling stories that others enjoy, it’s a dream come true.

What else? I love both cats and dogs. Star Wars and Star Trek. Pineapple on pizza, and have a cribbage habit my husband encourages. We live in a log cabin near Hood Canal in Washington State, if the sky is clear at night the milky way is visible. But most often I’m inside devouring yet another book!
