Viper's Creed blog tour.. Guest Post and Giveaway, author T.L.Shreffler!

Sora is having visions. Strange, terrifying visions brought on by her Cat's Eye necklace, an ancient and magical device. Spurred to action, she leaves her mother's cabin to find Crash, the mysterious assassin who once changed her life. She is certain that together, they can discover what the necklace is trying to tell her.

Crash is still on the run from the dark sorcerer, Volcrian, but now a plague is spreading across the land. Volcrian's quest for vengeance has awakened something far more evil than himself; a force that could destroy the entire kingdom. Together, he and Sora must harness the power of the Cat's Eye and kill the sorcerer before it's too late....

At long last I get to travel with Sora, Crash and Burn again! That’s what this series is, it’s an adventure that Shreffler takes you on. Wether it’s through Sora’s eyes as she fights to save the world as well as her friends and family from the Evil that Volcrain has unleashed. Or Crash’s eyes as he does what Crash does best; kill people, keep secrets and push you away. So why are these two so drawn to each other? Let’s not forget Burn; the big burly Wolfie is as outspoken as ever.  When their little group takes on a stray, he immediately takes her under his wing relishing in his role as protector. Volcrain, still Evil, enough said.

This story takes place a year after Sora’s quest when Crash and Burn left Sora with her mother. Sora has learned a lot and grown even more determined to stop the plague that ravishes the lands. Volcrain has unleashed something even he doesn’t understand in his attempt to destroy the assassin that killed his brother. The problem is the more he learns about the evil power he wields, the more he likes it and the darker his soul becomes. Crash as well is struggling to deal with his own dark side while protecting Sora on their journey to rid the world of the Wraith’s and Volcrains evil magic. All the while the chemistry and attraction between Sora and Crash keeps trying to break the surface. But Volcrain is coming, he’s coming for Crash and by association, Sora.

There is so much going on in this book, but it still flows well and keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens on the next page! I love Shrefflers ability to convey Crash’s character with little dialogue by using lots of emotions and inner turmoil. And managing to show the selfless young women Sora is becoming while maintaining an innocence about her. The magic surrounding the cat’s eye makes the story intriguing along with vividly described scenery.

I need book 3, I need it NOW! I give this one 5/5 Must Read this series… but that’s just my two cents.

"T. L. Shreffler definitely has a writing style that I love to read and the ability to draw me into her world with an ease that I don’t find often. She manages to find the balance that so many other writers don’t achieve in their work, scenes were neither over written nor understated and I enjoyed every page. I was eager to reach the end to learn the outcome but at the same time I was sad for the story to be over." - Lindsay and Jane's Views and Reviews

Since Shreffler and I just did an Interview a couple months ago, I decided to let her take over the blog for the day!  Today on the blog author T.L.Shreffler shares her advice for Sora..........

The Unnatural Advice Column: Help! How do I know if an assassin likes me?
Got a witch in the attic? Ghoul in your chimney? Ghost in the pipes? Just ask Unnatural Advice – we'll drive a stake through your problem!

Dear UnAdvice,

I’m having prophetic visions, but that’s not my REAL problem. My mom thinks I should ask an old friend for help. But you see, this guy... we aren’t really “friends,” and I haven’t seen him in a year. He’s kind of dangerous, too. (An assassin, if you must know, but don’t tell anyone!) I’m really nervous! I used to think he was kind of cute... in a broody, pensive sort of way.... but last we talked, I think he hated me. Should I ask him for help?

Seeing things,
-Sora

Dear Sora,

Congratulations on your visions! Got any insight into the lotto? JK (sorta.) Asking an assassin for help can be tricky business; they’re trained killers, after all! And you never quite know what they’re thinking. They like it that way. It’s kind of a power trip.

Here’s a few questions to figure out if he secretly likes you... and if he’s safe to approach:

1) Does he write to you?
Assassins are men of few words, so if he writes to you--even a brief note--that’s a good sign. But if he doesn’t write, it might not mean anything. They like to keep you guessing. And some don’t know how to read.

2) Does he zone out when you talk to him?
Assassins are notoriously quiet people, but you can still tell if they’re listening. Clap your hands occasionally to check his reflexes. If he seems surprised or grabs you in a headlock, you know he wasn’t paying attention.

3) Does he ride with you in the saddle?
Assassins like personal space, so if he gets close and cuddly in the saddle, you know something’s up.

4) Does he sneer at you?
Assassins will sneer at anyone, but especially those they don’t like. If he sneers at you less than 2 times a day, you’re probably on his good side.

5) Does he protect you?
It is very rare that an assassin feels close attachment to people, so if he protects you, it means that you are important to him. Just imagine--an entire lifetime of murder and killing! If he’s saved your life, it probably means you’re friends.

Personally, I think you should seek out your old “friend.” Visions are pretty important, and sounds like you can use all of the help you can get!

And that concludes another column of Unnatural Advice! Got a supernatural problem with nowhere to turn? Just go to www.runawaypen.com or check out these books: Sora’s Quest and Viper’s Creed by T. L. Shreffler, available now on Amazon. We'll set you straight....

Well that was just fantastic fun T!
What an amazing ride this tour has been, thank you to all the blogs that participated and thank you to T.L.Shreffler for enduring our many requests for our posts and offering up some great swag.
Until we meet again :-)

Fangtastic Halloween Event. Spotlight, Giveaway and This OR That; Author David McAfee!

Jerusalem, 33 A.D. The vampires of the era have long sought to gain a foothold into Israel, but the faith of the local Jewish population has held them in check for centuries.

When one of their own betrays them to follow a young rabbi from Galilee, the elders of the vampire race send Theron, a nine hundred year old assassin, to kill them both.

The rabbi's name is Jesus. Killing him should be easy

I was initially drawn to this book by the cover, it is truly frightening! I was blown away by the content, McAfee’s style of writing grabs hold and pulls you in as he introduces you to his verision of Jerusalem in 33AD. Imagine True Blood meets Passion of The Christ, that is this book in a nutshell. These vampire’s do not sparkle and the sun will surely kill them. Vampires, mystery, blood and gore with just a touch of romance to soften the blow. The book is split into 4 main storylines but, I assure you, you will have no problems keeping up! Extremely interesting and unpredictable, the twists and turns will keep you engaged and on your toes.

THIS is by far my favorite Vampire series, EVER!  5/5 MUST READ
For all our McAfee fans out there in mcafeeland, I'm letting David take over the blog for the day.  Guest Post, Author David McAfee..............

Hi Tammy. Well, as you know I just released a new book called OLD SINS, which is about a small town in east Tennessee that is haunted by the spirit of a young black kid who was lynched there in the 1970s. This book scares me, in more ways than one. Every book release is an excercise in anxiety. Will the readers like it? Will they get it? Will they hate it? Is this the book that finally proves to them that I am a worthless hack and they should be reading someone else work, instead?
But OLD SINS is different. Some of the scenes are very graphic in both violence and language, so I am not sure how they will be received. Parts of the book detail the lynching of a 13 year old black kid by a group of drunken white racists, so you can imagine how ugly those scenes must be. My wife even made the comment that, while she enjoyed the book, she was going to have nightmares about that kid's death. I can relate, because I had nightmares about it, too. In fact, I was so worried about this book that it sat, untouched, on my hard drive for two and a half years after I wrote it, waiting for me to summon up the nerve to put it out.
I considered toning the scenes down in terms of language and violence, but it just didn't feel right. I consulted with several friends and detailed my issues with the scenes and my proposed solution, and the replies were unanimous: don't do it. After some thought, I realized they were right, so I ran with it.
OLD SINS is easily my most disturbing book to date, with luck, I won't lose any readers over it.
My next release will be another collection of short stories. I am going to try very hard to have that out in time for Halloween, but I may not make it. I have just learned that my grandmother is very ill and may not be with us much longer, so I will be making a trip (perhaps several) out to see her in the near future. Needless to say I will probably not be getting much work done on those occasions. Additionally, I need to resume work on 79 A.D., which I have promised readers will be available by Christmas. Since the bachiyr are more important than the short stories, the new collection might be put off for that, too.
And that is about all that is going on in McAfee Land right now. Work, caring for the baby, sleep, and the occasional bike ride, with a hefty does of Seasame Street thrown in for good measure. :)

Witch Born blog tour. Review, Spotlight & Giveaway

Brusenna thought it was finished.
She defeated the Dark Witch, saving the Haven Witches from imprisonment and death. She
found love and a place to belong.
She was wrong.
Haven is not the sanctuary it appears to be. Even love is in danger of slipping away like water
through cupped hands.
Some things can't be saved.
A new threat merges with the old as the Witches’ dark history begins to catch up with them.
Only Brusenna knows the extent of the danger and how to stop it, though doing so might cost
her everything.
Including her life.
Will Brusenna be required to make the ultimate sacrifice?

Our journey with Senna (Brusenna) and Joshen has come to an end, and what a journey it was.  These two characters have definitely come full circle and grown tremendously since their start in book 1, Witch Song. There were definitely some twists and turns along the way to keep you guessing; in the end will strong will, determination and love be enough for them to survive?

In Witch Song we are introduced to Brusenna; a stubborn, strong willed yet motivated teenager who has led a sheltered life for her own protection.  And Joshen the would be Guardian that share’s the same characteristics as his new friend, young Senna. The difference is Joshen has always known who he is, where he came from and what he is meant to be. They are thrust into a centuries old war among the witches as the bonds of trust, friendship and love grow and are put to the test.

In Witch Born our young couple have gone through Hell and back again in their efforts to save Haven and the elder Witches only to be torn apart by the very people they risked their lives to save.  As a new threat emerges Senna’s life is once again endangered as she struggles with the expectations of her people, the secrets they keep hidden from her, her strained relationship with her mother and her own personal growth.

This series reminded me of the Harry Potter series in many ways.  The characters Arglye has created have a realism to them as they grow into young adults and face the challenges life throws at them head on.  Faced with the darkness of death and the possible annihilation of the Witches, Keepers and Guardians; they hold true to themselves and each other along the way.  For every hurdle they cross two more pop up! Senna and Joshen definitely have to make the choice between what is right, and what is easy.

I definitely recommend this series, Argyle paints a vividly beautiful place with Haven and yet she manages to paint the dark side as we visit all the places time has destroyed. Well written, descriptive, imaginative and creative.

I give Witch Song 4/5 and Witch Born 5/5… but that’s just my two cents!!

Amber Argyle grew up with three brothers on a cattle ranch in the Rocky Mountains.
She spent hours riding horses, roaming the mountains, and playing in her family’s
creepy barn. This environment fueled her imagination for writing high fantasy.
She has worked as a short order cook, janitor, and staff member in a mental institution.
All of which has given her great insight into the human condition and has made for
some unique characters.
She received her bachelor’s degree in English and Physical Education from Utah State
Uiversity.

Fangtastic Halloween Event. Spotlight, Giveaway and 10 favorite things with Author Natalie Gibson!

** WARNING... This is an Adult themed Paranormal Erotica series **

Book 3, Books of Sinnis
Camilla Lovejoy is barren because her natural healing ability cannot differentiate between a desired pregnancy and a unwanted parasite, but wants children desperately. Nanae is the Nephilim with healing talents that could enable Camilla to carry a child to term, but Nephilim cannot procreate. They turn to a friend and sometimes lover of the Daughters of Women, Israel. Izzy, as his friends call him, is happy to aid Camilla achieve her dream of motherhood. He loves Camilla but has always felt there was something missing in the traditional two person relationship. Now with Nanae in the mix he may have found the perfect solution. Can Nanae share his Sinnis with another man? Can Camilla handle her lovers loving each other? Will Israel survive the appetites of both? Will the hunger that Nanae battles constantly win and force him to destroy everything that he has come to love and need?

This is an extremely graphic novel with sexual situations for open minded adults, with not only m/f/m scenes but also m/m/f with a sprinkle of BDSM between two superhuman men and a pregnant petite.

I really enjoy Natalie's Sinnis series; it's a paranormal take on Soul mates that includes a nice Vampire twist.. Here is a copy of my review of Ishtar Anomoly
(you can follow me on Goodreads to catch all my reviews)...

The third installment in books of Sinnis, the series should be read in order to get the full effect, but each book could stand alone as well.  I loved this book, even more so than book 2 and was up till 3AM reading it, I could NOT put it down!

All your favorite characters from the previous books are back including Nathalia and Maeve; this book focus's primarily on Camilla, Nanae and Izzy.. Camilla's strong desire to conceive and the two men that are going to help her fulfill that need.  I absolutely loved reading the relationship between these three people evolve and grow; Gibson expertly captured the insecurities, secrets, desires and emotions of this trio.  The sex is off the charts in this book but, as with everything else, it is written and conveyed quite well.

Erotica done right, Gibson not only delivers us some Oh My God, Hot, Sexy, Steamy scenes; she also shows the love and nurturing these three share bringing the story full circle.

In the end will Camilla be able to carry their child to term or will the "Beast" that resides within Nanae be the end of them all. 5/5 MUST READ!

I will assume that you all don't REALLY want to hear about me in a traditional biography sense. You don't care that I will turn 34 years old in December, was born in Andrews, TX or that I have a 4 year old daughter and way too many pets. That's good. That is just what I want. I don't want you to care about me. I just want you to care about my books.

I write what I like to read. I like worlds filled with magic and mythos. I like adventure stories where there is all action and little down time. I like mystery, romance and racy sex. I like to put super-humans in ordinary circumstances and ordinary mortals in impossible conflicts. I like a really bad, bad guy. My books have what I like. I currently have three series out for public consumption. All of my books are for adults only.

*The Books of Sinnis are contemporary paranormal romance heavy on the erotic. Each one, save the first, follows a demi-god and a woman from his mother's bloodline as they discover each other and the strength that being together brings. Ishtar Bound is the first in the series, my first ever book, and is more of a prequel to the series. Yes, you should read it first so that you have the back story but don't worry if it isn't filled with enough magic and mystery. Transit of Ishtar follows Nathalia and Eiran. It is my personal favorite and it has more than enough action and adventure and a whole shlew of nasty creatures. Ishtar Anomaly seems to be the readers' favorite and it is a little different because it is a love story between 3 people. Ishtar Rising is the last one I have published and takes place in a small town not unlike the one in which I grew up. Veil of Ishtar should be out by year end.

Only 99 cents everyday - Get hooked on the books of Sinnis!

*** This book is FREE today Oct 22nd and tomorrow Oct 23rd in celebration of this blog post. ***
 Hateful Burden (Carrier Trilogy)
*The Carrier Trilogy - There is only one currently available in this series. Hateful Burden is a gaslight era paranormal horror novel. It is dark and creepy and dirty in a way only gaslight can be. It has adult themes and situations, and though there is sex, it is NOT a romance, nor is it very erotic. It is a psychological thriller where friends and foes are not always who they seem. In this dark urban fantasy, paranormal powers are bred and collected. I think this is a great Hallowe'en read. It stands alone, but the second in the Carrier Trilogy will be out next year.

"Lady Ramillia Winmoore, daughter of the Earl of Brooksberry, has suffered from gaps in her memory for her whole life. Because this blessed blackness takes her whenever she is threatened, she never knew pain, or even discomfort, until the day she awoke strapped to an examining table in West Freeman Asylum for Lunatics. Imprisoned for the gruesome murder of her parents and having lost ten months to the darkness, she endures years of tortuous treatments in that grimy hidden cell. Her benefactor and betrothed, Sir Julian Lawrence, helps her gain her freedom but at what cost? Ramillia encounters more horrors in his household than she ever did in the asylum and is introduced into a society of blood-thirsty cruel immortals. She is told she too is the carrier of a gene that will allow her to live forever and they, the Incola, can teach her how, if only she will join them, accept their way of life, and serve as their prized breeding mare. Ramillia must break free of a prison she cannot see, kill an enemy that cannot die, and find a daughter she does not remember birthing, all with the help of an ally she does not know. Can she trust Sally? Is the mysterious and frightening woman truly trying to save her or is she saving Ramillia for herself?"

Claire Cover to Cover (A Mount Haven Quickie)

*Mount Haven Quickies - This is my new series of erotic short stories. They all skate around 10,000 words with 70 to 80% of those going toward sex. Each one is different, with a different subject matter or kink, but they are all set in the fictional town of Mount Haven. They are all contemporary with no hint of the paranormal which is difficult for me. I am really enjoying writing them and hope to have something erotic for every reader eventually.
Claire Cover to Cover is BDSM. "Claire is in control of every aspect of her life and she is bored out of her mind. After catching her assistant absorbed in a book, she goes in search of that escape. Nathaniel sees something in her immediately and wants it for himself. He knows what she needs is less control, less escape. Will she follow him or continue on her vanilla path?"
Nanny Service is m/f/f. "Vicky and Clint have been married for 12 years. Though very much in love, their lust for each other is definitely waning. They run into their old babysitter, Chelsey, who's home from college for spring break and hire her so they can have a romantic night. She is not satisfied just being the nanny anymore and pushes herself into their sexual adventures. Will her services save their marriage or destroy what little connection they have left?"

Blind Furry should be available before Halloween. It is a regular m/f except...there are animal costumes involved. I think it is pretty funny and the sex scenes are actually hot despite the odd 'kink' involved.

Fangtastic Halloween Event. Guest Post & Giveaway with Sallie Lundy-Frommer

Yesterday’s Daughter is an emotionally laden paranormal vampire romance novel woven with layers of betrayal, love and loss. Grace Stone, who later learns her true identity is Sapphira, is a loner who survives abuse in the foster care system after being abandoned as a child.

A brilliant student, she escapes from her brutal foster parents as a teenager and creates a life for herself. But, her life is little more than existence; plagued with questions about what she really is, a family that she has never known and the never-ending need to keep her differences hidden. She is alone and lonely, believing it will always remain so until Malachi appears in her life.

Malachi, a Guardian of the vampire communities, has searched for his life mate, Sapphira, for decades. He refuses to cease searching for Sapphira even though she is believed dead by all. Conflict arises over the decades between Malachi and his family because of his refusals to accept another mate. But his very soul drives him on to continue his search, knowing that he could not exist if Sapphira were not in the world, somewhere.  *amazon.com*

I visited with Sallie and did an author interview just a few months back, I thought this time around I'd ask her to do a Guest post and share her reason for writing about Vampires............

Why Vampires, and how did you keep your book different from all the other vampire books out there.
Why my subconscious selected these mythical creatures as inspiration, that’s open to speculation. Since I don’t have access to a psychiatrist or someone to analyze my dreams, I’ll take a stab at it answering the question of why I chose to write about vampires….:-)
The easy answer would be to say that I’m a huge fan of vampire books and moves. I’ve seen every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and watched Christopher Lee drain more than a few damsels in distress. I read Stephen King’s, Salem’s Lot and the first time I saw the movie, I had nightmares for a couple of weeks. And let’s not forget Octavia Butler’s, Fledgling. Who can forget Shori who appears to be a child of maybe eleven years, but is actually 53 year old.
I could say that all those books and movies going in my head like quarters in a slot machine were bound to produce like output eventually. I’m sure that part of it. But, when I search deep, what draws me to vampires is time. They have time to experience life, experiment, make mistakes, and witness the great and small. When you compare the lives of vampires to humans, you can’t help but be struck by fleeting span of the human life. The idea of creating characters that may have lived at the time of Mark Anthony, discussed brush strokes with Michael Angelo or watched the sky as the Russian Sputnik passed causes my imagination to churn with possibilities of what characters can do when they are not constrained by time. There is so much opportunity to create enormous literary canvas when my characters are not married to specific era.
Because vampires are “tried and true” or a staple in the paranormal world it can be a challenge to differentiate ones work from another. But, Yesterday’s Daughter is different because it reflects contemporary society encouraging the reader will consider their feelings about people who seem different from them, the assumptions we may make about other groups, and the consequences of those assumptions.

Author Bio:

I was born on a farm in the rural South to a family of migrant farm workers. In fact, my family is huge. Some might call it a clan…:-) I’m the youngest of 10 children. Yup, I have six brothers and three sisters. And yes, holidays are a zoo…:-).

Anyway, at an early age, my family moved to the urban Northeast. No more running in the cotton fields for me….:-)

I now live in the suburban Northeast with my husband and a large assortment of plants. I don’t have any children but as you can well imagine, I have tons of nieces and nephews.

As for my education, I was the first in my family to go to college. I hold bachelors and masters degrees in Human Resource Management. But I have nieces and nephews working on PhDs. Way to go kinfolks!!!!

I guess that’s enough for now. I hope you’ve enjoyed a peek into my world.
