Las Vegas is a special brand of crazy. Some say it’s the intense desert heat that triggers the madness. Others say it’s the promise of gambling riches or the lure of decadent pleasures.

Known the world over as Sin City, the party never ends, but neither does the threat to the public. The uniformed men who are charged with keeping the city and its inhabitants safe are unique to the challenge.

Firemen, police officers, SWAT, paramedics, CSI, military—they all band together to make sure the job gets done. Join them as they work hard, brave danger and love with a fierce abandon.

Guest Post with Author Morticia Knight, behind the scenes of Sin City Uniforms #5, Negotiating Love...

How Did Hunky, SWAT Officer Steve End up Wearing Lace Panties?

Negotiating Love was a tough book for me to write. Not because of the hard kink and fetishism, that’s easy. I write about it all the time. It was because it’s part of one of my contemporary men in uniform series. Sin City is supposed to be all about manly men doing manly things. Not wearing women’s lingerie. Okay, admittedly, what I write tends towards non-vanilla sex – even in the men in uniform stories. There’s nothing wrong with that. However, when it came time to tell Steve and Allistair’s love story, I found myself in a predicament. Would readers want me to take the characters where they were leading me? Would they want to read about a uniformed muscled hunk in lace panties who’s also a masochistic bottom?

I tried to tone it down, I really did. I could tell the way things were going - the way the characters spoke to me - that some of the scenes were going to be more hardcore BDSM than some of my strictly BDSM books. But Steve’s character has been set in my mind ever since he first showed up in Book 4, Held Hostage. In that story, he’s Cole’s fuck buddy. He has one sex scene at the beginning and shows up briefly otherwise where we get a hint that he’s found someone and has to break off his casual flings with Cole. So already I had to work within the parameters of that. Here are a couple descriptions of how Steve was with Cole during their sexual encounter:

Steve lay on the couch, his feet propped up on the armrest facing the entrance. He wore a silky robe with a pattern of red roses and deep green vines. Cole chuckled at the dichotomy of the beefy hunk and the floral garment.

Then:

Cole smacked him hard on one cheek, Steve clenching around his cock as he did. God, he fucking loved that. He smacked him again. And again. Each time he spanked him, Steve’s passage would clamp down. Soon his palm was heated and Steve’s cheeks were an enticing shade of rose. He smiled at the thought of Steve’s tattered floral robe.

So what do we have here? Steve’s a definite bottom, he likes it rough, enjoys being smacked, but he also loves the feel of silky garments and specifically chooses feminine ones (the roses).

I had his character already set by the time I began his story. Then I needed a properly kinky partner for him, someone who could handle Steve, give him what he needed and be so good at it that Steve wouldn’t miss what he used to get from Cole. So I chose Allistair for him.

I didn’t want Allistair to be another muscled hunk or ex-military or a police officer or anything along those lines. I wanted someone who was so far removed from what Steve has known and understood – but so incredibly right for him – that Steve’s entire world would be rocked. Enter kinky billionaire casino owner, Allistair, who is not only the sadist to Steve’s masochist, but he also loves Steve’s lingerie fetish and is more than happy to supply with him plenty of choices for them to play with together. And beyond all that? They’re both searching for the one, the ever-after.

I ended up really loving Steve and Allistair together as a couple. Once I decided to just let go and them be together how it felt they should be, everything clicked. If I’d intentionally toned it down, I really believe their connection would’ve suffered. Whether you’re a reader who reads BDSM or not, I don’t think that’s what this is about. It’s about two men who find each other when both thought they might never get what they needed from a partner. Allistair and Steve’s dream came true when they discovered each other then fulfilled that need. I hope you enjoy their story!

Morticia Knight spends most of her nights writing about men loving men forever after. If there happens to be some friendly bondage or floggings involved, she doesn’t begrudge her characters whatever their filthy little heart’s desire. Even though she’s been crafting her naughty tales for more years than she’d like to share – her adventures as a published author began in 2011.

Once upon a time she was the lead singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. She currently resides on the northern Oregon coast and when she’s not fantasizing about hot men she takes walks along the ocean and annoys the local Karaoke bar patrons.
