Cat's Review of Bad to Be Noble (Bad to Be Good Book 3) by Andrew Grey @AndrewGreyBooks @TTCBooksandmore @dreamspinners

For glass artist Ashton Weller, Longboat Key seems like the perfect place to start over. It’s warm, sunny, and far from the dangerous ex he left behind in Chicago, even if his glass studio does get even more uncomfortable in the Florida heat. It’s also home to Terrance Manetti, a man who turns into Ashton’s inadvertent hero when he saves him from some unsavory types at a local restaurant… and may turn into more than that.

Former mobster Terrance has been in Witness Protection with his "brothers" ever since they turned state’s evidence against their former employer. His brothers have a different life here, filled with family and small-time, honest jobs, and Terrance doesn’t know whether to be jealous or derisive.

Not until he meets Ashton, anyway. With Ashton, Terrance could build the kind of life he’s never dared to want—the kind of life where he won’t need the skills he learned in organized crime. Or so he thinks—until Ashton’s past comes looking for him….

This is a book three and you do need to read the series in order, and as I mentioned  in the previous books review, this series is a bit different than some of Andrew’s other books. The characters are a bit unsavory, or were in their past lives, now they are in WITSEC trying to stay out of trouble… which has a way of finding them, as does love.

This is Terrence’s story.  He is finding himself a bit left out as the other two now have lover’s and families though they all get together as a family once a week. On one of these nights Terrence finds a cute young guy being bullied by a gang and steps in. Though the cute guy has a fear of the big, strong types like Terrence.

The story is interesting and fun too. There is a touch of humor with the two little boys and the glass blowing that is Ashton’s business is very intriguing to learn about. There’s some mystery as both men’s past comes back to haunt them as well and of course the romance is amazing.
If you like ex-mobsters, starting a new life, tight friendships, cute kids, glass blowing, artsy types, a bit of heat and an all over great romance this is for you.

Cat's Review of Love Will Stay (Desiring Danger Book 1) by Rachelle Ayala @AyalaRachelle @TTCBooksandmore

My name is Salem Pryde, but you can call me Sarah Pryce. I collect secrets and sometimes, I keep them. I could be a demon or an angel, depending on whose story I believe.

Colson’s Corner is a delightful town. Tucked in the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada mountains, it’s full of naïve, gullible, and friendly victims—er, I mean residents who still believe in being neighborly and kind, go to church, and leave their doors unlocked.

I’ll fit right in.

By day, I volunteer at the church and sing songs to the preschool kids. I carry my Bible and play the part. By night, I collect secrets—especially from the men. They’re such easy fools, and they’ll never tell if I pick their pockets.

There’s one, though, who I don’t want to fool. But I have to, or he’ll tie me down and put me behind bars. And that just won’t do.

I’m Scott Colson, fire chief of Colson’s Corner. I have a hard-enough job with house fires and campfire accidents without arsonists blowing up remote cabins and trailers high in the hills. The fire season is one nonstop wall of flames, smoke, and soot, and I live a lonesome life at my creek side cabin deep in the woods.

That is, until the day I meet a fairy wearing denim shorts and work boots, wielding a fire axe and digging a fire line around my place. I’m completely captivated, especially when she flits in and out of my bed and puts out my late-night fires.

She won’t tell me a thing about her, not even her name, but she promises to stay around, and that’s good enough for me.

Until she’s gone, leaving nothing but a bloody dress and a black book of people, places, and prices.

Note: This book ends with a wicked cliffhanger. Watch for Salem’s mystery to continue in Linx and Grady’s romance, Taking Me Back, Desiring Danger #2.

This is book one in the series; WARNING:  does end in a cliffhanger and the main couple’s story will span this series so if cliffhangers aren’t your thing, it’s best you not read… though you would be missing a good story.

I loved the unique characters here, Salem is very unusual and definitely not your typical heroine. I’m not sure there is any hero’s in this first book. It’s a good introduction to lots of characters, an intriguing plot and some suspense. The end really shocked me and left me wanting more! I’m glad I bought this series so I can move right into the next.

A Snowflake Christmas: The Nutcracker by Vickey Wollan Cyber Monday Sales blitz with Cat's Review @EJBookPromos @authorvickey @TTCBooksandmore

Title: A Snowflake Christmas - The Nutcracker
Author: Vickey Wollan
Genre: Sweet & Clean Contemporary Christmas Romance
Release Date: November 3, 2021

A Snowflake Christmas -The Nutcracker is the second book of the A Snowflake Christmas series where each novel stands on its own. All are sweet holiday romances set in the fictional small town of Snowflake, Montana.

Olga Vogel, a native of small-town Snowflake, Montana, knows the value of hard work and focused determination. When she finds herself the sole inheritor of the Snowflake Christmas Tree Farm, she decides her personal life must wait while she concentrates on successfully running the business. Olga turns to her father for support and is astounded when he questions her management suitability.

Olga’s decision to step away from romance gets complicated when Eric Lund, a sexy single father seems determined to capture her attention. Then Grant Miller, who broke up with her to become a college football star, returns to Snowflake acting as if he wants to rekindle their relationship. Drawn to each man individually, Grant’s charisma and Erik’s giving nature, Olga struggles with decisions about her future.

Can she run a prosperous company, and find one true love?

Cat gives this 4 Meows...

This is a super sweet Holiday Romance. It does stand alone but I think if you read the series in order you’d understand the characters better since they recurr.

I loved cute little Quinn, Erik’s son and Olga.

The story is a basic romance with a few twists and a sweet holiday theme. There’s a small touch of suspense added but just enough to add excitement. I love Snowflake and hope for Grant’s story soon.

Quinn asked to carry the nutcracker to the truck, so Olga put the box and satisfaction guaranteed papers into the bag having not gone near the cash register.

Olga grinned, “I’m so glad I got to meet him. Sorry about Mrs. Jameson and sorry I freaked. First day jitters, probably. Over the next several weeks all my energy will be poured into this farm. I hope you understand if you don’t hear from me.”

Erik blinked, then reached for her hand and gave it a squeeze. “I understand. I’m not going anywhere. In the next couple of days, will you tell me when you have some free time?”

Olga’s smile faded slightly, and she glanced to the side. At what he couldn’t tell. He took that as her polite way of declining his request. With feet heavy as blocks of ice, he made his way to Quinn and together they headed for the door.

Quinn talked to the nutcracker as they settled into the truck and Erik wasn’t sure if he should be concerned by the long one-sided conversation. Then Quinn did the strangest thing. He positioned the nutcracker on his lap and held the toy in its standing position.

“Will you really protect our home?” Quinn asked in a serious tone.

For some reason, the right arm of the toy sprung forward on its own.

Quinn giggled with delight. “Daddy, do you think it answered my questions?”

A misfit wolf

A guilt-ridden vampire

A chilling mystery

Mongrel, a creature more wolf than man, leads a lonely life on the fringes of pack society—until the night a handsome vampire shows up with a mysterious request.

Bowie—a vampire cursed to a life of endless nights—maintains close ties with his human family. When young girls in their village go missing, he must act quickly. But to find them, he’ll need to convince the local werewolf pack to loan him their best tracker—a wolf known as the Mongrel.

Though he hates the slur, Andras is used to being called Mongrel. When Bowie refuses to refer to him by anything but his given name, Andras can’t help a flicker of unexpected trust toward the stranger. He volunteers to help Bowie, risking banishment.

Can two tender-hearted men overcome their traumatic pasts and work together to rescue the girls before it’s too late? Or will the world’s most prolific killer snuff the flames of their passion along with the lives of her captives?

***

This steamy love story spans the country of Hungary as Andras and Bowie journey through cities and wilderness on their quest to right a killer’s wicked wrongs. Mongrel features a sweetly possessive werewolf, a cinnamon roll of a vampire, and the worst serial killer in history. A surprisingly fluffy MM Paranormal/Historical Romance considering the subject matter.

HEA guaranteed with loads of laughs along the way and no cliffhanger ending!

Cat gives this 4 Meows with a 3 purr heat index...

Andres and Bowie are soulmates. Maybe your thinking...typical but no. needs is a werewolf that cannot fully shift into man. Bowie is a vampire that hates taking blood from unwilling humans and killing. Bowie is on a mission to find and rescue some missing girls. He needs a good tracker and seeks help from the local werewolf pack, Andrew volunteers. They form a tight friendship that blooms into more on this grim mission.

There is lots of humor to lighten the dark plot. I adored the characters and storyline. I would have like to seen more tie up of some loose ends but all in all it was amazing.

The Kingdom of Hungary, 1610

I watch the ground pass by beneath my paws rather than risk meeting the eyes of the other wolves. They probably aren’t looking anyway, having better things to do than greet the mongrel, even on a full moon. I’ve spent so long pretending not to care it’s almost worked. Who needs them? Not me.

I give a full-body shake to settle my fur how I like it and amble toward the heart of the village, a cool night breeze keeping me company. The chattering of insects pings from the forest beyond a row of humble cottages as I continue past.

Anticipating tonight’s run has me eager. I imagine the frantic heartbeat of my prey as I target my dinner. Pent-up energy dances in my muscles, tickling every nerve and rumbling in my chest.

I love the hunt. Nothing else in my life brings the satisfaction I take from stalking, chasing, and tearing into my prize. It’s one of the few activities where the others tolerate my presence. Though they’ll never admit I’m the better predator, they’re always willing to devour the feast I provide.

Only Ava treats me as equal. She’s too old and frail to hunt for herself these days, but I’ll be sure to bring her a choice portion. Nothing beats a fresh meal, and she deserves the pleasure more than anyone.

It wasn’t always like this. I had friends once when childhood still sang with innocence and the world had yet to slam its doors on me. But remembering better times only brings sorrow, so I move forward to whatever tonight might hold.

Voices sound from fifty paces ahead. Odd because most of the pack would normally have shifted by dusk. Among them, a voice I don’t recognize floats to my ears.

“I must speak with your alpha,” says a smooth tenor, calm, though his timbre vibrates with urgency. “The matter is vital.”

Risking an upward glance, I scan the gathering. Jolan and Ozor, the pack’s enforcers, stand in their human forms facing the speaker, both tense and braced for a fight. But the stranger’s posture isn’t threatening. He’s neat, wearing charcoal stockings under a crisp blue tunic. Knee-high black boots gleam with a recent polish. Spine straight, shoulders back, weight settled in the heels, not the toes. Nut-brown hair hangs tied at his nape, most of it hidden beneath a fashionable black hat. If his features weren’t puckered with annoyance, he might be handsome.

I creep closer on silent paws, ears flicked forward.

“We’re busy,” barks Ozor. “Or hadn’t you noticed the moon? Come back another night.”

The stranger’s lips part, but before he can reply, Farkas storms through his front door.

Clad only in a pair of worn tan breeches, the pack alpha thunders down the porch stairs and into the commons. Even barefoot, Farkas is intimidating, towering head and shoulders over the others. His black eyes land on the stranger in a threatening glower, but the man isn’t shaken.

“You’re the alpha, I presume?” The stranger extends a hand, his movement graceful, as if he’s been invited to a friendly tea instead of invading hostile werewolf territory on a full moon.

Farkas ignores the proffered hand. “Your kind isn’t welcome here.”

Your kind. Wondering what that means, I inch forward so I can scent him for myself.

The stranger returns his arm to his side, fingers curled but not fisted. “And you have my apologies, but this couldn’t be avoided.” His eyebrows arch as he inclines his head. “We must speak.”

I sniff the air. His scent is masked by soaps. Lavender was used for his clothes, rose for his skin and hair, but beneath the added fragrance lies the spiced scent of blood—his own, yes, but also…someone else’s? That’s odd.

“Then speak,” growls Farkas. “What do you want from me, vampire?”

A vampire! I’ve never seen one before. He looks so…human. Fragile. Not what I’d expect of a blood-drinking night terror at all.

A Christmas to Fight For by Jessica Frances Review tour with Cat's Review & Excerpt @EJBookPromos @TTCBooksandmore

Title: A Christmas to Fight For
Author: Jessica Frances
Genre: M/M Fantasy Christmas Romance Standalone
Release Date: November 12, 2021
Cover Design: Melissa Gill Designs

"You wouldn’t think I would use the word “sweet” to describe such a book but oh my, it was just that. This is truly a story of good versus evil. A story of greed. And, a story of hope, of love, of standing up for what you know is right. It also had the sweetest epilogue. Jessica never ceases to amaze me with her imagination, with her stories. There are so many hidden messages in this book that we could all take to heart. In the end, it’s a story of acceptance, of finding your one true love, no matter what package they are in, and a story of finding your happy ever after." - Carol [Goodreads Addict]
"Not only did this story have amazing and lovable main characters, but the story was equally awesome and addictive. I never wanted to put this story down. I’m always amazed at the creativeness and talented mind of this author and A Christmas to Fight For is yet another I can add to my favorites from her. Looking for something Christmassy and unusual and well-written and packed full of vivid descriptions to easily pull you into the pages? I highly recommend you take a chance on this one." - Lori. R

As the last of my kind, I’ve long lived in the shadows. But, with the death of my father, I have a dying wish to fulfill, and I can no longer keep quiet. I can no longer stand back and watch as the Santa Claus Organization takes everything from us. So, I launch an attack that was doomed from the start. I am but one krampus up against the cruelest organization in the world. I knew it was a long shot. I knew I would likely die.

Then something surprising happens. The most recent Santa Claus comes into my life, and I don’t know what to make of him. He wasn’t what I was expecting. He’s supposed to be a puppet. A heartless, despicable Santa. But he’s not. He’s … a good person?

Do I have things wrong? Have I had them wrong all along? Or am I falling for the biggest con in the world?

Either way, change is coming for North Pole, and this is sure to be the deadliest Christmas on record and a time that no one will ever forget.

Cat gives this 5 Meows with heat index of a low 3 purr ...

I've only read a few books about Krampuses so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised!

I loved the characters and the uniqueness of both the characters and the story. It was suspenseful, and had a slow burn romance, while there Ii a lot of action and twists as well. The story is emotional and I will admit to a tear or two, so you may want a tissue.

If you like a twist on the tale of Santa, Krampus, and an amazing enemy to lover story you must read this. It is totally amazing!

Standing over me, the demon is almost in shadow. However, past the strange features of his skin, tail, and horns, I clearly read his anger and hate. He hates me.

Why?

“For my father! For my people! For all that is still good in this world!” he shouts.

The impact of his words are almost the same as a jolt from a bullet. He sounds righteous and like he is on the right side, not us. He must be delusional. He must be crazy.

He holds up his gun, his aim pointed at my chest.

I close my eyes, wondering what death will be like. I heard people say that their ancestors are there to greet them, that they are welcomed by them and live out their afterlife in the cradle of family. But my family disowned me, and I somehow don’t expect anyone further up my family line to understand me. If anything, they will probably hate me worse.

Is it my destiny to be murdered then spend the rest of my afterlife alone, too?

Instead of the blast of the weapon expunging the bullet from the nozzle, I hear a click, which tells me that he’s out of bullets.

I open one eye first, and then the other, watching him glare down at his gun.

Could it be? Am I saved?

He throws the gun to the ground then fists his hands into my suit, picking me up then headbutting me.

I cry out, certain I have been stabbed by his horns, but it’s my nose that feels the most pain.

Blood gushes down my face, and all I taste and smell is blood.

“Release him!” someone shouts from behind him. He’s so damn big that I can’t see who it is.

“Just kill it!” someone else yells, this voice commanding. I think it might have come from Chancellor Gibson.

I begin to feel better knowing he’s here. He will know what to do.

“They’re so close that we could hit Santa Claus!”

“Then we’ll get another Santa Claus! Just kill it! It cannot be allowed to live!”

I glance at the demon still holding me, one hand releasing me so he can grab something out of his pocket. He then swings me around just as a gunshot blasts from behind him, but this demon isn’t quick enough to use me as a shield.

His body jolts as he’s hit, and then his hand smacks into me. The item he’s holding is a space-eater.

“Shi—”

The last syllable is lost as we jump through space and land somewhere I have never been before.

What the hell just happened?

Born and raised in South Australia, Jessica spends her days working in a bakery, afternoons catching up on lost sleep, and nights reading and writing. Writing has always been a passion of hers, however it wasn’t until recently that she decided to put pen to paper and make things official.
