This is book 12 in this humorous cozy mystery series starring Nicky and Noah. You don’t have to read in order, but you know the main and secondary characters better and understand the dynamics between the sexy husband sleuths if you do.

In this book they are putting on a TV pilot about their first mystery. They hope it takes off so there will be 10 more. But as always, stars keep falling like shooting stars. 

This is another funny and interesting mystery, it’s full of interesting characters, a couple of different plot lines, a mystery with plenty of twists, an established couple and cute kids. 

I love Nicky and Noah and never tire of this saga!

This was a fabulous sweet, fun, romance.

I loved all the characters. Elizabeth was so sweet you had to love her. In the beginning I wanted to dislike Rome, but it was hard especially when the nickname Dadbod was explained. 

There are a few sad moments, some tension and sexual tension but that all added to the story and made you want to keep reading. I’ll admit to binging and reading all night.

I am hoping for another book featuring some of these characters or at least Rome’s restaurant. 

If you like sexy dads, restaurant owners, waitresses, nanny’s, sassy teens, adorable kids, slow burn, sweet romance with a touch of humor, this is for you.

I grew up in the midwest with a loving family including three brothers, one sister, and my parents who always fostered my creative side. I earned my bachelor's degree at Iowa State University, then I was off to the Savannah College of Art and Design for graduate school. After that, I returned to Iowa for work which led me, once again, to ISU for my master's degree in education.

I love to read and one day I was searching for a book. A book about a certain type of woman and a specific kind of man and I couldn't find it so, I wrote it. I called it Game Changer and it couldn't have been a more appropriate title. It changed my life in many ways. While my real job is teaching young people, my fun job is conjuring up characters and situations to write about. 

My goal, as a writer, is to write stories that relate to all of us, to make readers laugh and maybe cry sometimes. I hope my readers can escape into a fantasy, one that's actually possible. Sure, some of the stories could be dubbed "Insta-love" stories but that's okay. I fell in love with my husband pretty damn fast and with my daughter the second I saw her. So, it's a thing, I swear.

This is book 2 in the OutCast Mates series. It can be read as a stand-alone but the first book is so good that I suggest you read it first as you do meet Dominus there.

This is Dominus and Sebastian’s story. Sebastian is a Changeling, a Fae hidden among humans and he only just found out he has magic and isn’t human. Also that vampires and other creatures exist. He is taken to the Twig and Berries, a brothel for the supernatural run by Incubi. When Dominus finds out Sebastian is a faerie he wants him out but agrees to a two week stay. 

I just loved both these characters. Sebastian is so sweet and Dominus a big sweet grump. 

All the characters are interesting, the storyline intriguing and the romance also awesome. I couldn’t put this down and I want more in this world! 

Excerpt 

A creature strolls into the room so stunning I must blink to be sure he’s real.

Aside from the massive horns and gently swaying tail, he doesn’t look like any demon I’ve ever imagined. He’s gorgeous, with gray-dappled lavender skin, and he’s huge—taller than me even without considering the coiled horns that add another foot to his already astounding height.

His sapphire blue eyes, sparkling with an interest that rivals my own, catch my gaze. Silver brows—the same color as his long braided hair—arch to elegant crescents high on his forehead.

“What treasure has arrived at my door this morning?” A sly smile forms across lush pink lips. His skin is simply otherworldly, shining with an aromatic oil spread from neck to toes.

I inhale the fragrance of a bouquet of fresh spring blossoms plucked to gift a lover.

“Dominus, meet Sebastian, who finds himself in need of safe harbor.” Ivaz makes a sweeping gesture from him to me. “Sebastian, meet Dominus, who’s agreed to take you in.”

I let my gaze wander over the length of him. Practically naked, he wears only a sheer shift of shimmering fabric the color of ripe plums. It’s pulled tight over each hardened nipple, crossing just above his pierced belly button, then draping loosely around his lean waist and bulging thighs. Silver strappy sandals adorn his otherwise bare feet, the toenails painted purple to match the shift. Amethysts dangle from each ear.

Dominus is a glittering jewel of a man—of an incubus, I suppose. His attention brushes over me like a touch, grazing my skin and bristling the little hairs on my neck in its wake. We stare at each other until I remember my manners.

Clearing my throat, I extend my hand. “Thank you for offering me shelter.”

Dominus takes it within his larger one, his grip soft and warm. “My pleasure.” He brings my hand to his lips and presses a kiss to the backs of my fingers.

I’m baffled by the boldness of the gesture, wondering how he knows I prefer men. It’s usually a back-and-forth dance of daring mixed with self-preservation to determine whether another fellow might be like-minded, but Dominus doesn’t hesitate in the slightest.

To my chagrin, heat sears across my cheeks. Surely they’re pink as petals. I’m not often so taken by another person, but Dominus is a magnificent presence. His energy steals all the space in the room, spins it to his will, and returns it much improved upon for having been under his control.

My tongue is thick and heavy in my mouth, but I force it to work before I look like an idiot ogling him. “I’ve never met an incubus before.”

“And I’ve never met such a charming…” He studies me, eyes raking over my lean form.

I open my mouth to answer, my flush deepening under his scrutiny, but he shakes his head.

“No, let me guess. It’s more fun. Wood sprite?”

His guess brings a grin to my face. “There are wood sprites?”

“Ah, so not a wood sprite, then.” He leans in close to me and reaches for my hair. “May I?”

I bite my cheek and give a little nod. He takes a lock of my hair and curls it through his fingers. Then he sniffs.

“Hmm, not a shifter. At least not one I recognize.” His eyes sparkle with a new idea. “A jinn? But are you benevolent or malevolent?”

“I’m not that either. What’s a jinn?”

Dominus purses his lips, still twirling my hair. “Not a jinn. Hmm.”

Ivaz groans before Dominus can answer my question. “Glad to see the two of you hitting it off. Now where do we sleep?”

“Has our new guest worn you out already, old man?” Dominus says to Ivaz.

“Hardly,” Ivaz scoffs. “But I have a letter to write before dawn.”

“This way.” Dominus extends his elbow to me, and I take it. His muscles flex beneath my fingertips.

We head down a narrow hallway with decorated silk drapes hung crisscrossed over the ceiling and pass several doors on each side. Just how big this place, and how many people sleep within these rooms? In the quiet, I hear only the thumping of my heart and our soft steps muted by layers of thick rugs.

We stop by one of the doors. Dominus uses his free hand to push it open. He glances to Ivaz. “Here you are.”

“Thank you.” Ivaz steps over the threshold.

I gasp as Dominus’s tail circles my waist and tugs me closer to his side. It’s not unwelcome, but it’s quite surprising.

“Sorry,” he says, sounding anything but. “It has a mind of its own sometimes.”

Cat Gives this Audio 5 Meows overall... 

This is the 6th book in the series, and they do stand alone pretty well, but it’s best to read in order to really know the depth of all the characters. 

This is another interesting Cozy RomCom. It’s fast paced, full of action and endearing characters. The plot is funny and there are plenty twists with a surprise ending. 

I loved these books but the narrator really adds a lot to the story. He acts it out well giving character to each voice, adds the necessary excitement and drama. I really enjoy the listen.  

Drama Castle 

Nicky and Noah Mysteries book 7

When historical accuracy disappears, along with hunky men in kilts, Nicky and Noah will once again need to use their drama skills to figure out who is pitching residents of Conall Castle off the drawbridge and into the moat - before Nicky and Noah land in the dungeon.

Cat gives this Audio 5 Meows overall...

Nicky and Noah are back in yet another fun mystery. This time they are taking a working vacation in Scotland to film a low (no) budget movie in a week. As usual, bodies start dropping and Nicky is out to find out the murderer. We have a new investigator and his colleague this time around, a bumbling Chief inspector and his love-struck partner. The cast of characters (pun intended is vast) at least until they begin dying off. Are Sidhe Fairies, Leprechauns, Seers, Sea monsters real? I'll never tell!

There are so many wonderful characters, lots of twists and turns, a very surprising revelation, and many laughs. If you like a good, funny cozy mystery, established couples, sweet romance, cute kids and an all-over fun book to chase away the blues, this book is for you. 

I just listened to this on audio and loved everything about the narration, it adds so much life to an already good book. The narrator gives it so much emotion, each character different voices. If you can get this series in audio I highly suggest you do. 

Valentine’s Day Author Spotlight: Joe Cosentino

Don’t you just love Valentine’s Day? The red heart decorations, the spirit of love in the air, the scent of chocolate, and cozy candlelight dinners by the fireplace? Not to mention spotting cute little Cupid who I’m convinced is gay. What straight man would fly around in a brief spreading romance everywhere he goes? (smile) 

I’m author Joe Cosentino, winner of the Divine Magazine Readers’ Poll for Favorite LGBT Mystery Author of the Year with Drama Queen and Second Place Favorite LGBT Romance Author of the Year with An Infatuation. I’ve written 31 novels so far, causing my mother to ask me, “Don’t you have anything better to do than write novels?” Hm, I wonder if Nora Roberts’s mother asked her that? I’m also a college theatre professor/department chair. Finally, as an actor, I worked in film, television, and theatre with stars like Bruce Willis, Rosie O’Donnell, Jason Robards, Nathan Lane, and Holland Taylor.

Since I’ve always enjoyed the spotlight, I was excited when the gifted and talented TM Smith asked me to do the first Author Spotlight on this blog. Why am I writing about Valentine’s Day? I have a wonderful husband who I love madly. We’ve been together forty-four years. (We met when I was 5—smile). However, my marriage isn’t the real reason. My most powerful love affair is with the characters in my books. So, I thought I would give you a little rundown on my favorite romantic characters and why I love them so much. I hope you do too.

In my Nicky and Noah mysteries, college theatre professors/amateur sleuths Nicky and Noah are madly in love. All the world’s a stage for them, and they’re happiest when sharing that stage together, along with their adopted son Taavi and their theatrical troupe of friends, as they solve murder mysteries. Nicky is tall, muscular, with dark hair and green eyes, long sideburns, and an adorable cleft in his chin. There’s one other small thing. Actually, it’s not so small. To the admiration of the men at his gym, horror of his tailor, and joy of his husband, Nicky has a foot long penis. But that’s not why I adore Nicky so much. Nicky has a great sense of humor, kind heart, the sharp mind of an amateur sleuth, a never-say-die attitude, and he is incredibly loyal to Noah. As Nicky would say, “Being married to Noah makes me happier than a family values politician tapping his foot in a public men’s room stall.”

In my Player Piano mysteries, Andre, a young elementary school music teacher, finds an antique player piano and unleashes the ghost of a tantalizing wealthy 1920’s playboy. This leads to an other-worldly romance as the couple solves murder mysteries in exotic locations. Ghost Freddie Birtwistle is thirty, tall, and lean with slicked-back jet-black hair, violet eyes, high cheekbones, a thin nose, and rosy cheeks. As a man of wealth in the Roaring Twenties, he wears a pinstriped black suit and vest, white silk shirt, and black patent leather shoes with white spats. I love Freddie because he has a joyous bon vivant personality, and he seems to have known every celebrity of the Roaring Twenties including Cole Porter (who wrote “You’re the Top” about Freddie), Irving Berlin (who wrote “I Got Rhythm” about Freddie), J. Edgar Hoover (in drag), and Mae West who said about Freddie’s height, “Never mind about the six feet. Let’s talk about the seven inches.” However, Freddie didn’t find true love until he met Andre. As Freddie says, “Andre is a lalapazaza!”

Nothing is what it seems at Cozzi Cove, a gay beach resort on a gorgeous cove at the New Jersey shore, where love is always in the sea air for guests. Cozzi Cove is run by ex-football player Cal Cozzi, handsome, rugged, smart, and a terrific host. I admire Cal for maintaining the family business, his loyalty to his sister, and for being a one-man man with the love of his life, Michael Rodgers. I also really like Cal’s sense of extended family and honor. As Cal says, “Cozzi Cove is in my veins like sea water.” There’s no place like home with Cal Cozzi.

In My Heart features two coming of age stories in retrospect, proving first love is the most touching, meaningful, and vibrant love we experience. In An Infatuation cute Harold High has an all-encompassing crush on handsome and muscular high school football player Mario Ginnetti. When Harold is called to tutor Mario, they become unlikely friends and form a strong bond. I really admire Harold’s resilience, honesty, intelligence, wit, and ability to keep going in trying situations. Even when his heart is broken, Harold’s spirit always stays intact. Harold’s honesty about his teenage infatuation with Mario makes me adore him. In A Shooting Star college student Jonathan Bello falls head over heels for the college theatre department’s handsome and charismatic star David Star. Who could resist David with his long dark hair, crystal azure eyes, muscular frame, and intense acting talent? David has many secrets, and his life hits some rocky roads. What I love about David is how he protects Jonathan and helps those around him even putting himself in peril.

In my Bobby and Paolo Holiday Stories, Bobby McGrath meets Paolo Mascobello on a romantic vacation in the magical Island of Capri, Italy. Paolo, a gifted clothing designer, is incredibly built, handsome, and sexy, wears the top European fashions, and is desired by many. However, as their relationship grows over three cozy winter holiday seasons, Paolo’s home and hearth are with Bobby and eventually their adopted son. I find that truly admirable.

Tales from Fairyland is my gay twist on some of my favorite fairytales, where Cinder dresses his stepsisters for the ball and finds love with the prince himself, Goldie is a handsome young man involved with three older bears, and Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones engage in an unexpected romance. My fairytale characters in all of the various stories feel their love deeply and deserve their happily ever after magical endings.

In my Found at Last series, what I so admire about wholesome Theo Stratis and gorgeous Jamison Radames is not only how the two previously unlucky in love young men find each other and enter into a joyous romance, but how they tirelessly work to reunite older gay couples who were separated as youths due to homophobia in their families and in the military. Theo and Jamison prove love rekindled is love everlasting.

Jana Lane in my Jana Lane mysteries is a past child star on the comeback trail. Her husband, architect Brian, and sons are her anchors in the storm. She may be enticed by her male co-stars, but Jana realizes Brian is her soulmate. As she should! Brian’s thick chestnut hair, hazel eyes, build of someone who enjoys landscaping, and boy-like temperament make him incredibly sexy. Most importantly, Brian gives Jana the leeway she needs for her career and amateur sleuthing, because he knows she will always come home to him.

My characters are real to me. They make me laugh, cry, and most importantly feel romantic. They have taught me that whatever obstacles, problems, or worries come my way, two heads—and two hearts—are truly better than one. A partner in life doesn’t need to be perfect. Showing up and standing by the one you love speaks volumes. What could be a better gift for Valentine’s Day?

I'm a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, "No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book." I didn't think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn't already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven't been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.
