Best Selling author Lacey Jackson Weatherford

Lacey Weatherford was born in Ft. Meade Maryland while her father was serving in the military. She has been a life long resident of Arizona, spending most of her time growing up in the small rural town of Clay Springs.
It was while she was attending the small country school in Clay Springs, that she read her first "big" book at the age of eight. It was a Nancy Drew novel and Lacey was instantly hooked. She read every book that she could find in the series and decided that she wanted to write stories too.
Lacey spent a lot of time at the library from that time forward, even volunteering in her later teen years and early twenties. She would don a crazy clown outfit for the Friends of the Library fundraisers in an effort to help get the new town library built.
When she and her husband moved away from the area, Lacey took the opportunity to take some creative writing classes at the local college to help further along her interests. Several years later, they were blessed with the opportunity to move back to Clay Springs with their family. The town had finally succeeded in building their library and Lacey had the opportunity to be President of the Friends of the Library for a very short time, before relocating.
Lacey and her family still live in the White Mountains of Arizona, where she continues to write young adult novels that have a fantasy/fairytale or paranormal bent to them, as well as being sure to include a great romantic storyline!

Q&A with Weatherford:

*FOR THOSE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOUR SERIES, OF WITCHES AND WARLOCKS, GIVE A BRIEF SYNOPSIS: 

Hi, Tammy! Thanks for having me to participate in your awesome event!

The Of Witches and Warlocks series is actually Vance Mangum’s story, but told mostly through the eyes of his love interest, Portia. She’s sixteen and discovers that not only is she a witch, but she come from a long line of witches. She learns her family has a coven and they’ve been protecting the mysterious guy at school that everyone has always wondered about. Once she’s thrust into his world, it takes them both on a crazy ride of highs and lows as they try to escape his past. The two of them cling to each other as they attempt to overcome the odds, desperately trying to hang onto the quickly developing love that burns between them. 

*What is involved in your daily writing process?  Playlist; Routine; certain authors or movies that you view for research? 

My routine is a fairly easy one. I sit in my office in my very comfortable writing chair, (a nice leather chaise lounge) with my laptop, a large bottle of water, and my current playlist for the book I’m working on. I surround myself with positive quotes and attributes on my walls to help keep good energy flowing in my workspace.  

I actually try to stay away from other books or movies in the genre I’m writing at the time, so I won’t be influenced by anyone else’s work. I do a lot of my research online, or in books, and when at all possible, I try to go to the actual places I write about. When that isn’t convenient then I try to send my manuscript to someone who lives in the area I’ve written about to check for accuracy. 

*WHAT BOOK ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING? 

You’ve caught me during my “self-help, motivational,” period. I’m reading, The Power, by Rhonda Byrne at the moment, part of her, “The Secret,” motivational books. It’s been very inspiring and helps me to feel grateful for all the things I have.  

Next on my nightstand is a little paranormal fun, Temptation, by R.L. Stine. I don’t get to read nearly as often as I like anymore, but it doesn’t seem to stop me from hording more books! Haha 

*AS A READER, I AM ANXIOUSLY AWAITING CRUSH! CAN YOU FILL US IN ON ALL THE DETAILS? RELEASE DATE, SYNOPSIS. 

Crush is a really fun book with a beautiful girl named, Cami, and an oh-so-sexy guy, Hunter Wilder, who makes me swoon! I like to write in several YA genres, and Crush is one of my Young Adult Contemporary novels. I love the dynamics between the characters of that age, though Crush has a little twist and a touch of suspense in it that will differ from the normal angst of the typical teen romance.

Book Blurb:

Cami Wimberley has a plan, and that plan includes no room for boys—especially the big time party animal, Hunter Wilder, no matter how handsome and charismatic he is. She’s beautiful, a senior, extremely talented, gets good grades, and is working her way toward her dream college to be a musical theater major. Everything is perfect. 

Hunter Wilder does not want a girlfriend—that would complicate his life way too much right now. He especially doesn’t want this girl, Miss-Goody-Two-Shoes, so how come he can’t keep his eyes off her? He tries to keep her at arms length, but fate seems to keep pushing them together. Before long, it’s obvious to everyone they’re crushing on each other. 

As sparks begin to fly, Hunter finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into hot water. Soon he’s scrambling to keep Cami from discovering his dark secret—one that can destroy their entire relationship.

Other than a brief stint into Vance Mangum’s head in book one and book five in the Of Witches and Warlocks series, this the first time I’ve told a story from both of the main character perspectives. I was a little nervous about it, because I’d read some stories in the past, which were written this way, and I didn’t care for them much. However, I finally read a few I did like, so I decided to give it a try because it really needed to happen for this storyline to work correctly. I hope the readers will enjoy it, and be able to fall in love with both the characters as they come together and things begin to unravel around them.

The release date for this book is set for October 20, 2012, available in print and all ebook formats, so I hope you’ll give it a try!
