~ Suit Yourself - Book Three in The Men Of London series ~
THE MEN OF LONDON
Scarred both physically
and emotionally after a motorcycle accident, twenty-five year old ex fashion
model and porn star Oliver Brown is about to be stripped bare by flamboyant
twink Leslie Scott—and they’ll rebuild love from the bottom up.
BARING THE BEAST
Twenty-five
year old Oliver Brown is addicted. Two years ago, he was at the height of his
career as “Nicky Starr,” fashion model, porn actor, partier without peer. Then
came the accident. Hiding his scars, both emotional and physical, he’s gone
into hiding. But fine clothing is some solace. A new suit by Debussy? Better
even than a ride on his motorcycle Hulk or all the things he used to give and
take on camera.
Enter
Leslie Scott, the flamboyant, dark-haired, heel-and-tiny-short-wearing twink
sent to deliver Oliver’s newest fix. A firecracker, Leslie is dapper, generous,
in touch with his feminine side but all man, and as gorgeous as any garment
ever made. He makes Oliver dream of ending his reclusion, of recapturing a
future forever denied him. But for that to happen, Leslie would have to strip
him to the bone. Only then will they rebuild life from the bottom up.
Tams 5 Star review ******
Leslie Scott is best described as flamboyant, fearless and fiesty. His androgynous appearance affords him the ability to wear clothing from both sides of the closet, and he does both quite well. He's worked hard to get where he is in the fashion industry and he loves his job. He also has a close knit circle of friends that would go to bat for him any day of the week. But he's lonely. And then he gets talked into delivering a suit for a his eccentric boss and everything changes.
Oliver Brown is a recluse. He doesn't leave his house except on the rare occasion he has coffee of lunch with his best friend. You see, Oliver used to be a renowned gay porn star, an online sensation. Then an argument with his abusive ex sent Oliver on a tailspin that left him broken and scarred. The only brightness in his life is a friend with benefits that occasionally pops by, his sometimes dates with his best friend, and a new suit from Debussy.
Leslie's larger than life personality barrels into Oliver's life and slowly, but surely, breaks down all the barriers Oliver has erected to protect himself. But Oliver has lived a solitary life for a long time, with his last real memory of love being tied to a man that beat his ass, told him he was worthless and then left him lying in a hospital bed after the accident broken and scared for life. Leslie takes the bull by the horns, climbs into the saddle and refuses to be bucked though. When Oliver's past comes back to taunt him, will Leslie be able to hold on to what they've accomplished, the glimpse of a happy ever after?
This is officially not only my favorite book in this series, but my favorite book by Susan. I devoured this book in a matter of hours, because once I started I could not tear myself away. I've been waiting to learn more about this larger than life personality since book one, and Susan did a fantastic job of giving me a glimpse into Leslie's mind. I love how unapologetic he is. He is flamboyant, fearless and fiesty and you can take it or leave it, he is not going to change for anyone! Then you have Oliver who used to be a star and lost everything after the accident. His ex beat him down both physically and mentally, telling him he was ugly, worthless and no one could ever love a man with a scar. Once you have lived like that for so long, not only does it take a toll on you personality, eventually you start to believe what your abuser is saying. It will take every ounce of patience Leslie has along with every ounce of courage Oliver has if they are going to make it through.
If you are a fan of MacNichol's books, of this series, then I think you may agree with me, and this will be your favorite. It's also a wonderful story about getting that second chance in life, getting a second chance at love, figuring out who you are and being true to yourself regardless. Definitely a must read!
And now I'm off to try and find something to cure this book hangover after reading Leslie and Oliver's story. Stop back by next week to see what my thoughts are for Susan's best selling novel, Worth Keeping.
Susan Mac Nicol is a self
confessed bookaholic, an avid watcher of videos of sexy pole dancing men, self
confessed geek and nerd and in love with her Smartphone. This little treasure
is called 'the boyfriend' by her long suffering husband, who says if it
vibrated, there'd be no need for him. Susan hasn't had the heart to tell him there's
an app for that...
She is never happier than when sitting in the confines of her living room/study/on a cold station platform scribbling down words and making two men fall in love. She is a romantic at heart and believes that everything happens (for the most part) for a reason. She likes to think of herself as a 'half full' kinda gal, although sometimes that philosophy is sorely tested.
Lover of walks in the forest, theatre productions, dabbling her toes in the cold North Sea and the vibrant city of London where you can experience all four seasons in a day , she is a hater of pantomime (so please don't tar and feather her), duplicitous people, bigotry and self-righteous idiots.
In an ideal world, Susan Mac Nicol would be Queen of England and banish all the bad people to the Never Never Lands of Wherever -Who Cares. As that's never going to happen, she contents herself with writing her HEA stories and pretending, that just for a little while, good things happen to good people.
