Brad is great at meeting other people’s expectations. But his own? Not so much. Take the gay thing. Okay, so yeah. It took a morning meeting with a frat brother’s hairy, naked ass for him to admit it, but he knows the truth about himself now. Let the gay life commence.
Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. He hasn’t quite determined how to come out to anyone, even Sebastian, the geeky-hot TA in his history class. Sebastian is everything Brad is not. Intellectual, suave, hairy. Out. And he doesn’t seem interested in Brad, even when Brad makes a fool of himself trying to catch his notice.
Score one for foolery: Sebastian does more than notice Brad; he takes him to bed. Brad’s been with plenty of girls, but with Sebastian, the sex is something else entirely—hot, mind-blowing, affirming, and a little domineering in a way that drives him wild. But when great sex turns into something more—dare he admit the “L” word?—Brad must face the crushing realization that Sebastian doesn’t feel the same. Unless, of course, he does. After all, even grad students can be idiots about matters of the heart.

Tams gives this one 5 Stars...
Brad is a clueless jock. I don't say that as an insult, the guy is literally unawares that he is gay. It's not a closeted or not coming out due to fear thing. I especially liked this scenario with this book. So, Brad starts to notice little things about the teachers aide in one of his classes. And even as he realizes it's attraction, he is still running this inner monologue with himself which turns into a type of self discovery as he realizes he's gay.
Sebastian first takes notice of Brad when he has to council him on buying a paper online and turning it in as his own. It's odd to Sebastian when Brad doesn't argue with him or try to lie. His interest is piqued. When these two first come together, Sebastian is certain it's a one off, but Brad has set his sites on the hot teaching assistant and not only wants him to teach him the art of gay sex, he wants so much more.
I was so engrossed in this story that I was listening to it at work, in the car driving home, while I was doing laundry... I seriously could not stop listening until I finished. As I mentioned above, I liked the way Brad's personality and journey of self discovery was presented. Nick J Russo's narration was pristine, let me tell you. If there had been no personality description or certain characteristics laid out in the writing of these two characters, I would have still known them because of the way they were voiced. Definitely a must for anyone that likes the genre, Author or Narrator, but I think readers that enjoy stories about self discovery and not so perfect journeys to a HEA will enjoy this one as well.

Paul's been called many things-graduate student, humanities tutor, jock-hater, even broke-but "forgiving" isn't one of them. When the new women's softball coach at Calapooya College specifically requests Paul to tutor his athletes, Paul's forced to put aside his strict "no athletes" policy for the sake of his paycheck. Enter Trevor Gardiner, former Major League Baseball player and Paul's high school boyfriend. Yeah, that one-the guy who sacrificed Paul for the safety of his closet and his future career. But Trevor's come out and retired from baseball, and now he's looking for forgiveness and a second chance. There's no earthly reason Paul should give him one, but he keeps letting the man state his case. And touch him. And take him sailing. The waters are far from smooth, though, and Paul says awful things to Trevor he isn't sure he means. Now Paul has to decide: apologize and forgive Trevor for everything, or chalk it up as revenge and move on. This title is part of the Theta Alpha Gamma universe.

Tams gives this one 5 Stars... I was first introduced to Paul in book 1, Frat Boy and Toppy, and I hated him almost instantly. Arrogant, rude, brash and generally pissed off all the time about everything! So when I saw he was one of the main characters in this book, I was hesitant. But, I do love when an Author can take a disliked or hated character and give them depth, make them likeable. And that is exactly what Anne Tenino did with Paul. Paul's attitude and persona are somewhat of a front, a barrier he has erected around himself so as not to be hurt ever again. In high school his then boyfriend not only dumped him by denying their relationship, he outed Paul to everyone at the same time. This is why Paul hates all jocks, since said ex was a jock, and it explains why he was so mean to Brad and Sebastian. Almost a decade later, the guy that outed Paul is no longer in the major leagues, he's the new Ladies Softball Coach at the college. Trevor Gardiner has regretted what he did to Paul all those years ago every day of his life since. Trevor sets out to win Paul back but it won't be an easy task. Especially when Paul finally has the chance to say what he wanted to say to Trevor all those years ago. Problem is, the satisfaction he thought he'd get by telling Trevor off isn't there. Instead, Paul realizes he really does still love the guy. But his outburst may have driven Trevor away for an entirely different reason this time. |
Catalyzed by her discovery of LGBTQ romance, Anne Tenino left the lucrative fields of art history, non-profit fundraising, and domestic engineering (in that order) to follow her dream of become a starving romance author. For good or ill, her snarky, silly, quasi-British sense of humor came along for the ride.
Anne applies her particular blend of romance, comedy, and gay protagonists to contemporary, scifi, and paranormal tales. Her works have won many awards; her novel, Frat Boy and Toppy, is frequently referred to as a gay romance classic; she’s been featured in RT Book Reviews magazine; she holds the position of VP of Programming at her local RWA chapter; and she’s achieved bestseller status on Amazon’s gay romance list.
Born and raised in Oregon, Anne now lives in Portland with her family, who have all taken a sacred oath never to read her books. When not crocheting genitalia, growing tomatoes, driving teenagers around, or cooking something obscure, she can be found at her computer, procrastinating. Possibly while also lying on the couch, eating bon-bons.
