Alex Ford is a top-of-the-line architect who’s tired of big cities and wants to settle down, maybe run a small inn. The mansion he inherited from his grandparents might be the ticket to his dream, but it needs a lot of work. When he meets the handsome builder, he knows he’s made the right decision. He just needs to convince Jake that his scars don’t matter. Unfortunately Alex’s greedy family has other ideas, and they’re determined to ruin Alex’s plans and take the inheritance for themselves—even if they have to kill to do it.

Jake Cramer is a war vet that has lost his leg and injured his arm. Before the service he worked with his father as a carpenter specializing in cabinet making. He is good with doing the preliminaries so he is sent out to work with Alex Ford, a millionaire that owns an old mansion that needed a lot of work.
Alex has a reason he wants to renovate the old house and turn it into an Inn or B&B. He was raised there and wants to come home out of the busy city. When he meets Jake he has other reasons to want to come home.
BUT there is someone trying to stop Alex from renovating and will go to any lengths to stop him. But who is it and Why?
What the carpenter saw is a very good mystery suspense. It has a very well thought out plot that has a few twists and turns. There is also the slow building romance between Alex and Jake. I loved the family dynamics between Alex and his sister and also Jake and his family. The sex is all off page but that doesn't bother me a bit.For me there was a teeny tiny bit of something missing that i can't put my finger on that keep this from being a wow(5).It was very close though.
If you like damaged men, ex war vets, men with disabilities, wealthy men, carpenters, off-page sex and a very good mystery suspense...I recommend this one.
