The Release Series: Book Three
Dakota Landry just got out of prison after twelve years. If anyone can understand how that feels, it’s his new friend, Sage, who is determined to help him get used to life on the outside—and believes Dakota didn’t commit the crime he was in for.
Jayden Wilson is a former prosecutor who agrees to look into the case at the request of Sage’s lover, Adam. He sets out to prove Dakota is just another “innocent” ex-con, but once they meet, Jayden is more and more convinced Dakota just didn’t do what everyone thinks he did.
Trouble follows Dakota, and nothing is easy as he struggles to figure out how to live, now that he has choices. And Jayden isn’t sure how Dakota, or any lover for that matter, fits into his life. Their path from friendship to romance is a slow one, but Dakota begins to believe he deserves a chance at life, and Jayden falls a little more for Dakota every day. Now they just need to tell each other how they feel.

Dakota has served 12 years in prison for a rape he knows he didn't do. He is gay and no way he raped a girl and cut her up. He is out of prison now, a broken man that hasn't had any adult life since he went in at age 19. He has no money, no clothes except what he has on, and nowhere to live since his parents deserted him when this happened, and he came out as gay.
Sage (from Terms of Release) an ex-con himself that has written him a few times pulls up, offers him a ride and tells him he has a friend that needs a roommate. He gets a job at a construction company and likes the work.
Jayden is a lawyer from a wealthy family that loves and accepts him as he is. He has just left the DA office. He now works as a real-estate attorney. Adam Winchester (from Terms of Release) had been serving him as a bodyguard, but the service is now over. Adam and Sage are his friends. He is lonely and bored not working as many hours as he was so when Win asked him to check into Sage's new friend Dakota. Jayden quickly believed that Dakota was telling the truth and he was railroaded. He is determined to prove his innocence and that all depends on a rape kit that was never tested.
Catch and Release is such a great story. Though it is a book three in the series with guest appearance by Sage, Win and Troy, it does stand alone well.
I loved all the characters. I liked Dakota and the fact he came out broken and quiet, and only wanting to live his life. He isn't like most ex-cons, defensive and acting like he is owed something. I loved Sage and how he wants to help other ex-cons. I liked the contrast between Jayden and Dakota. The romance is sweet and slow developing, not a hop in the bed on the first date. There is drama and the mystery of proving Dakota's innocence and who actually did the crime.
If you like ex-cons, cowboys, a second chance at life, Making friends, and a sweet slow building romance you will love this. I also suggest reading the first two books in this series. They are awesome too.

Hey
y’all! I’m BA Tortuga, resident redneck and lover of Christmas.
Catch
and Release is my newest novel and, while it’s not a Christmas story, it is
totally set in Austin where I spent twenty of my Christmasses, including my
first Christmas with my wife.
We
learned a lot about each other that first Christmas together. She learned that
I listen to Christmas music almost exclusively from the day after Thanksgiving
to the day after Christmas. I learned that she left her tree up till New Years
Day while I took it down the day after Thanksgiving (her family didn’t put it
up until after her momma’s birthday on December 17 and my birthday’s January 9,
so we didn’t leave it up.
Our
first Christmas we had a terrible time. We had the tree up in the stand, but
not decorated because my stepfather had passed away in December and we’d been
swamped with family things. My ex had been fired for Medicare fraud, I was
fighting with my kid, it was just a bad year.
Then the
water line broke outside our house. On Christmas Eve around 2pm. In the middle
of making tamales.
No one
would come fix it, the ex and best friend started digging, but they didn’t know
what to do and the water was off. I have to admit, I just burst into tears and
went to bed.
I
believe I said, “I’m cancelling Christmas! Wake me up day after tomorrow.”
At six
pm, my girl knocks on the door. The tree was decorated. The pork roast was in
the fridge to be made into New Year’s tamales. The pizza was waiting. The house
was clean. The water was fixed. Music was playing and I’m still not sure who
she had to threaten to kill – ex, plumber, kids or pizza guy – but it was
perfect.
Now,
what does this have to do with my new release? Not a whole lot. What it does
have to do is finding the right person, the one that will move heaven and earth
for you.
That’s
what I have and that’s what I draw my inspiration from for every book.
Much
love, y’all.
BA
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA spends her days with her basset hounds, getting tattooed, texting her sisters, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. BA's personal saviors include her wife, Julia, her best friend, Sean, and coffee. Lots of good coffee. Y'all know that song, The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA? That's me, down to the bone.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to hard-core cowboys to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which was raised in Northeast Texas, but has heard the call of the high desert and now lives the good life in the Sandias. With books ranging from hard-hitting GLBT romance, to fiery menages, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.
