Cat and I decided to do just one book/audiobook that we enjoyed in 2016 instead of a top 10 or anything along those lines. When it came down to it, we both said THIRDS. Cat has listened to all the Audio's pretty much in the past month, said she couldn't make herself stop and set the iPod down, because the stories were so juicy and enthralling. Myself, I've read all the books in the series at least twice, but my personal favorite that has received much more of my time than any others in the series is book 5, Against the Grain.
So, we decided to make the THIRDS series our top series for 2016. Just in time for the long awaited release of book 8, Thick & Thin, on February 1st. For the month of January we'll be sharing our reviews for the audios and e-books in this series as well as some fun sneak peaks at book 8, ending with the release review of Thick & Thin on release day. So stay tuned and check back daily for updates and more!

Unfortunately, change is difficult for Ethan; most days he does well to deal with his Selective Mutism and Social Anxiety. Calvin’s confession adds a new struggle for Ethan, one he fears might cost him the friendship that’s been his whole world for as long as he can remember.
As partners and Defense Agents at the THIRDS, being on Destructive Delta is tough at the best of times, but between call-outs and life-threatening situations, Calvin and Ethan not only face traversing the challenges of their job, but also working toward a future as more than friends.

Cat's Audiobook Review...
"Anther Intriguing Tail--oops--I mean Tale"
Who was your favorite character and why?Calvin. I liked how he never gives up on Hobbs. I also like that he is stoic doing his job and doesn't let it make him a hardened man.
Which scene was your favorite? When Calvin he faces down Hector, breaks Protocol and speaks to him though he isn't supposed to. I can't Imagine standing there all that time, having men and women call you names and not respond, knowing you did the right thing. but when he walks out and lays down his gun, man to man that was awesome.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?My heart went out to Hobbs. He is such a sweet man to be trapped in his selective mutism.
Any additional comments?I had been looking forward to Hobbs and Calvin's story from the beginning. I hate to say it wasn't what I expected. I was hoping for more light on Hobbs, selective mutism, why it's selective.Don't get me wrong, the story is awesome, with plenty of action and drama as the others, and it also focuses a lot on the coupling of many of the teams and them moving into the new training and getting back to work. I think it mostly being in Hobbs view with him unable to speak, Mark having to interject so many 'He thoughts' or 'I thoughts' into the dialogue got a bit distracting for me. Having said that, I still love this series and the book is still a great one.If you like shifters, especially big cats, special ops, science fiction, romance and some hot man-sex this is for you.
Tams E-book Review...
I have literally been waiting for this book since I read the first book. Calvin and Hobbs have been best friends since they were children, they have a bond that is unlike anyone else on their team. Over the years that bond has only grown stronger, even if occasionally strained, the two love and depend on each other every day. That love has continually grown stronger as well, to the point that the boundaries between friends and so much more has not blurred so much as become non-existent. Each man has kept the other at arms length for fear of either losing their friendship or losing each other entirely, not to mention the strain and stress Ethan endures on a daily basis due to his social anxiety disorder. They have come to a point in their relationship recently where the strain of trying not to be a couple has become to difficult, and it's draining their focus, making them both vulnerable.
In the middle of the issues Calvin and Hobbs are dealing with by taking their relationship to the next level, Calvin's life is threatened after a shooting on the job. Then there is the "Black Widow" as Calvin calls her, Sparks, who is on this mission to either make Destructive Delta an unstoppable team, or kill them all trying, they can't figure out which one yet. The bitch is crafty, shady and annoying. Oh but wait, there's more, when it rains it pours so Cael and Nina having a fun night out for their birthday's at Club Deketra is derailed, leaving someone close to the team fighting for their life. Destructive Delta, THIRDS as a whole actually, faces their greatest challenge yet in this book.
This book is equal parts completely engrossing and absolutely infuriating at the same time. There is a cliff hanger, bad Author! But, I am so invested not only in this series but in these characters, that I will forgive and not so patiently await the next book. This book though, oh my my, action packed, edge of your seat suspense, sexy, passionate and Calvin has this little kink that was unexpected and perfect!! Hobbs really is this gentle giant and the thing that he cares about most is Calvin. We've seen his protective side throughout the series, but it is on a whole other level now. The Hobbs family drama is still boiling and brewing in the background, but a few things take shape and come to a head here. What I loved most about this book was seeing the way the relationship between Calvin and Hobbs stayed the same, but not. How fluid they are together and much stronger Calvin's love makes Ethan (Hobbs).
Of course fans of the series and the Author will be chomping at the bit to get their hands on this book. But if you are a fan of hard fought love stories, shifter stories, passionate romances, sort of happy ever afters and just a well written story with three dimensional characters that are beautifully flawed, then you'll enjoy this book, this series, as well. Start at the beginning though if you are a newbie, you'll be completely lost if not.
Action. Humor. Romance. THIRDS!
THIRDS exists to uphold the law for Humans and Therians without prejudice.
During the Vietnam War, biological warfare spread the Melanoe virus, infecting millions worldwide and changing the course of human history forever. The vaccine, Eppione.8, created using strains from animals immune to the virus, activated a dormant mutation within the virus that altered human DNA and gave birth to a new species: Therians.
In an attempt to restore social order, the US government put new regulations and laws into place, along with a Therian branch of government. In 1990, Human and Therian legislators launched the Therian Human Intelligence, Recon, Defense Squadron aka the THIRDS, an elite, military-funded agency comprised of an equal number of Human and Therian agents.
But THIRDS agents are more than a team—they’re a family through thick and thin, and along the way, some find true love. While every day brings dangers and challenges, one thing will never change: standing up for what you believe in and protecting the people you love is never optional.

I loved Cael! He is fiercely protective of those he loves. As all the guys are. But there is something very special about him.

Thanks for the review! I loved the ebook, but could see how narrating all the stuff going on in Hobbs' head would present a challenge.
