Cat and I decided to do just one book/audiobook that we enjoyed in 2016 instead of a top 10 or anything along those lines. When it came down to it, we both said THIRDS. Cat has listened to all the Audio's pretty much in the past month, said she couldn't make herself stop and set the iPod down, because the stories were so juicy and enthralling. Myself, I've read all the books in the series at least twice, but my personal favorite that has received much more of my time than any others in the series is book 6, Against the Grain.
So, we decided to make the THIRDS series our top series for 2016. Just in time for the long awaited release of book 8, Thick & Thin, on February 1st. For the month of January we'll be sharing our reviews for the audios and e-books in this series as well as some fun sneak peaks at book 8, ending with the release review of Thick & Thin on release day. So stay tuned and check back daily for updates and more!

After an attack by the Coalition leaves THIRDS Team Leader Sloane Brodie critically injured, agent Dexter J. Daley swears to make Beck Hogan pay for what he's done. But Dex's plans for retribution are short-lived. With Ash still on leave with his own injuries, Sloane in the hospital, and Destructive Delta in the Coalition's crosshairs, Lieutenant Sparks isn't taking any chances. Dex's team is pulled from the case, with the investigation handed to Team Leader Sebastian Hobbs. Dex refuses to stand by while another team goes after Hogan, and decides to put his old HPF detective skills to work to find Hogan before Theta Destructive, no matter the cost.
With a lengthy and painful recovery ahead of him, the last thing Sloane needs is his partner out scouring the city, especially when the lies - however well-intentioned - begin to spiral out of control. Sloane is all too familiar with the desire to retaliate, but some things are more important, like the man who's pledged to stand beside him. As Dex starts down a dark path, it's up to Sloane to show him what's at stake, and finally put a name to what's in his heart.

Cat's Audiobook Review...
"Things heat up"If you could sum up Rise & Fall in three words, what would they be?Action, suspense, romanceWhat did you like best about this story?Hard to say. I liked all the action, but I also like the relationships that are all building and becoming tighter.Which character – as performed by Mark Westfield – was your favorite?I think this time I will choose Austin. He, like Dex adds a touch of humor, but I also liked his Therian form, how he helps but still is mysterious. Part of me doesn't want to trust him no matter how much helps, Sloane and Dex. Mark does make Austin's identity different from some of the others.Any additional comments?Sloane is healing from an explosion, Ash is also healing. The team is put on leave when it is found out that Hogan is out for revenge and the team is on his radar.
That doesn't stop Dex from wanting to protect his brother and lover and friends.
I Liked the change in this story. Though it is similar there is some distinctive differences as well. Each book we see personalities of each team member more and more.
I like the balance of action, romance, humor, and suspense. It is a perfect blend.
I'm ready to start the next one to see what happens next!
If you like suspense, police procedurals, special ops, shifters especially cat shifters of all kinds, a touch of humor and lots of hot man-sex you will love this!
Tams E-book Review...
The bomb that went off at the end of Rack & Ruin threw Dex's life into chaos. With Sloane being injured in the blast and stuck in ICU, and Ash still recovering from his injuries as well, both by the hand of the Coalition, Lieutenant Sparks removes Destructive Delta from the case. But Dex is determined to protect his lover, his team and his family, so he sets out to take down the Coalition on his own. Sloane Brody didn't become the team leader of Delta because he was slow, he quickly figures out what Dex is doing and now, per Sloane's request, Ash has become Dex's new best friend.
The team may be off the case officially, but when have they ever played by the rules. If they are going to take down Beck and the Coalition, they are going to have to set aside personal grievances, learn to communicate and several team members will have to admit how they truly feel about each other. Dex loves Sloane more than anything and he knows Sloane loves him, he just needs to hear the words. Ash thinks that he has convinced himself not to love Cael, but that ship sailed long ago. The harder he fights his feelings, the larger the rift between them becomes. And Calvin and Hobbs, sometimes I want to lock them in a room and throw away the key. Hobbs is a man of few words, which is perfectly fine, words aren't going to heal the break in his relationship with Cal, Hobbs will have to show his partner how he really feels.
While the men of Destructive Delta are in emotional overload, Beck and the Coalition continue to elude them. Because Beck, as it turns out, is as smart as he is ruthless. He watches, waits, biding his time until the perfect opportunity presents itself to use the teams emotional turmoil and love for one another against them.
This book was non stop, action packed, drama, drama, drama from beginning to end. As I said, the men of DD all have some extreme personal issues they are dealing with but there is the constant threat of the Coalition to contend with at the same time. With so much going on, stories within stories and lives intersecting, it almost seems like too much for one book. But I think that is what I've come to love about this series. It is chaotic, insane, intense, hysterical and most of all, imaginative. It's hard for me to differentiate between main characters and secondary ones because everyone is a vital part of the story. I think my favorite aspect of this world Cochet has created is the camaraderie among the characters. Everyone is fiercely loyal regardless of what is going on in their lives, or the fact that they just may dislike each other.
This is a must read series for anyone that likes Shifter stories, paranormal romance, action, suspense or just a well woven and written story. It is a must that you start at the beginning though, this series must be read in order.
