The
Watchmaker and the Widow
Historical Western (A
Kindle World Book)
On his way to California, watchmaker
Deacon Fletcher, stops at his grandmother's ranch in Montana. En route, his
trip hits one snag after another, each threatening to derail his plan to begin
a lucrative job in San Francisco. Further complicating matters is the pretty
young widow who lives nearby.
After four years, Molly Goode still
grieves the loss of her husband. Raising a young daughter, preparing and
selling preserves, and helping her father, leave little time for courting,
which suits her just fine—until a handsome watchmaker turns her head.
As Deacon spends time in Morgan’s
Crossing, he becomes more involved in the ranch, along with Molly and her
daughter. Soon his career goals are challenged and his character tested. As
Molly warms toward him, can he convince her that Cupid's arrow can strike more
than once?

I love this cover! It hooked me on the book!
Deacon is on his way to California to a very prominent job. When he gets a message to visit his grandmother, he does not realize how life changing the visit can be.He is shocked by the news his Grandmother is giving him the ranch. Now he has to decide if wealth is more important than happiness with a beautiful woman hand her daughter. He also has a target on his back because his twin brother is in trouble with the law.
The Watchmaker and the Widow is a beautiful story. There is lots of romance with the pent up feelings of her and Deacon, Deacons' confusion about the ranch and his big job waiting for him, turns and lots of action once the story gets to the plot where his brother's actions catch up wth deacon.I loved all the characters, especially Deacon's grandmother and Eva, Molly's daughter. I also liked all the twists close to the end.
I did feel that some of the descriptions was a little overboard and slowed the story down. In some places, nearly every movement is described too many times. I also was left ith questions about Daniel. Maybe we are getting his story soon? That would be awesome!
If you like stories set in the 1880's, the old west, watchmakers, widows, cute kids, meddling grandmothers and an allover sweet romance, this is for you!
