Sequel to Smoke & Mirrors
THIRDS book 8
Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by. Today I have the immense pleasure of kicking of the Thick & Thin, THIRDS series book 3, blog tour with Charlie Cochet. And she brought a friend along for the ride, Dex! Yep, I got to interview the hottest THIRDS agent on the block. But first, let's talk about this latest installment and what I thought about where the series is heading.
In a matter of days, Dex has been kidnapped, tortured, killed, revived, become half-Therian, offered the chance to become a spy, and accepted a proposal to marry his jaguar Therian boyfriend, Sloane Brodie. It’s been a lot to take in, and although Dex is still trying to wrap his head around everything that’s happened, he knows he has to move forward.
After the events of Smoke & Mirrors, Dex and Sloane find themselves in one of the most frightening situations of all: revealing the truth to their Destructive Delta family. When the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same, and it’s up to Dex to prove that in the face of change, the one thing that will always remain the same is family.

Tams gives this one 5 Stars... Dex and Sloane have been through the ringer in the short time they've been together. Partners at work and at home, it seems like, for each happiness they gain, something bad has to follow. Their friends and co-workers are their family and will stand by them, through thick & thin. But when yet another secret is revealed to their team, it could possibly cause a rift that cannot be mended.
Lord, but these two men don't know what to do if someone's not either pissed off at them or trying to kill them. And quite often, both. They are fiercely loyal to each other and their family, which includes their DD team though, sometimes at the detriment of their own health. I have to say I am loving the recent changes that have taken place, how Dex and Sloane are on more level ground now. Their love is absolute, unconditional, passionate and sometimes volatile. But it's so much fun to watch!
Let me stress that this is a series that must be read in order so that you can fully appreciate each and every character, their role not only in each person's life, but their role in the THIRDS universe. Thick & Thin was an action packed, non-stop, thrill ride with the right balance of Dex-isms and antics you've come to know and love and expect from him, and super sexy time with his man, Sloane. This may have been a short read, just at 100 pages, but it was no less intense and engaging than the first seven books in the series. There is a sneak peak at the next book, Darkest Hour before Dawn, which promises to be another action packed read.
Cat gives this one 5 Meows... A lot has happened leading up to this book. In the last book, some things happened to Dex and Sloane they now have to reveal to his family and their team. One will be a shock to both one could tear the team apart. The other is happy.
For a short book, it is fast paced, intense and nail-biting action. There is a twist that leads us to what the next book may be about, hints we may not be able to trust someone (I never did anyhow), and Dex gets better and better if that's even possible!
I love this series and even eight books in its gets better. We get a peek at book nine, and it looks like another great one! I admit I have waited a while for this couple and can't wait.
If you like special ops, urban fantasy, shifters of all sorts and some hot man-sex, this is for you. Looking for a new series to read? Try Thirds!

And now for the fun stuff, my Interview with Dexter J Daley...
Tams: Afternoon Dex, thanks for stopping by the blog today to answer some questions for your fans. They started lining up last night, you’d think I was interviewing Justin Bieber or something.
Dex: Thanks for having me. Don’t worry, I’ll behave myself. That’s a total lie. I should say I’ll make the attempt. How’s that? Let’s go with that.
Tams: Let’s get down to business, shall we. So much has happened since you became a member of Destructive Delta, how does one cope with so much change in such a short amount of time?
Dex: You learn to adapt, and quickly. The only thing I could do was be myself and hope for the best. I don’t know how to be any other way. It doesn’t always go well, but it’s a chance I’m willing to take. There’s been a lot of crazy, but I sort of just try to go with my gut, and I don’t just mean food wise. I always go with my gut food wise, though there have been some questionable moments, and some moments I’m not too proud of. They involve my college years and some suspect pizza toppings. Anyway, it can get overwhelming, and all that stress and tension needs to be let out somehow. Music helps a lot, and of course my boo. Sloane’s always there to kiss it all better.
Tams: I bet he is. Now, where was I? It’s not hard to see that the members of your team are like family, which brings me to my next question. Is it difficult to manage time with your Father and Brother over time with the unit?
Dex: It can be a challenge. Cael is Recon, and Tony works with other teams in Unit Alpha, plus the three of us aren’t always on the same shift. But it doesn’t matter how busy we are, we make time for family. My dad’s big on family dinners, and he expects us to make it to his house for dinner at least once a week, usually Sundays. We check up on each other, make sure everything’s okay. I see Cael at work more than I see my dad, but I make sure to drop in on him at his office, or leave a little something for him to let him know I was there. That came out kinda weird. Usually I leave him snacks, or glue his stapler to his desk.
Tams: Oh wow, I can imagine your dad's face when he tries to pick it up, the vein in his neck stretching the skin to the point of bursting. Next question... paint me a picture here Dex… Christmas just a couple of weeks ago at the Daley house with all the couples and many secrets now exposed. What was the atmosphere like?
Dex: It’s great. I mean, there’s always gonna be some kind of crazy going on, but there’s definitely a sense of relief. No one has to tiptoe around anyone anymore, or be careful about what they say in case they spill the beans on something. I hate having to keep things from my family, and there’s none of that now. Now, I can just annoy them peacefully, and suck face with my man whenever I want.
Tams: Oh, before I forget, have you and Sloane set a date yet? Registered, picked a venue? I’d love to send a gift.
Dex: We have picked a date, but I can’t tell you yet. You’ll find out soon enough. We haven’t picked a venue. Lou will be helping us with that. He’s going to be in charge of the catering and pretty much everything to be honest. I’m not very good at that sort of thing. I’ll just end up getting distracted by something ridiculous. I’m still trying to convince him about the donut wedding cake. For some reason, he’s set against it, but I think I can wear him down. Maybe. Lou can be scarier than he looks. The guy will shank you with a spork if you mess with his plans. He doesn’t care if it’s your wedding. Ash predicts bloodshed. He’s made the mistake of crossing Lou while the man was in the midst of doing his catering thing, and it was not pretty.
Tams: Ash does bring it on himself though, most of the time. On a more serious note Dex, how is your fiancé and family coping with all the physical changes you’ve acquired in the past several months?
Dex: With Sloane it’s hard to tell. He keeps things like this close to his chest until one day it’s out there. I know he feels guilty about it. It’s his DNA after all, but he’s not taking it as bad as I thought. We haven’t really talked about it much since it happened, and as far as my family, well, they’re about to find out. I kind of have a feeling about how that’s going to go, and I’ll be honest, I’m a little freaked out, but Sloane keeps reminding me, they’re my family. I know they’ll accept me, and love me no matter what. Granted, this is probably the top craziest thing that’s ever happened to me, but I have to have faith in them.
Tams: I agree, family is everything as is your faith. I'm delighted to hear that everyone is settling in. Tell me Dex, what can we expect from Destructive Delta and THIRDS in 2017?
Dex: Well, I’m hoping Seb and Hudson are going to get their act together, because I mean really. Those two are killing me. Killing. Me. There’s also my bachelor party, which I’m personally very excited about. Then of course the wedding. After that we’ll be making preparations for our next adventure.
Tams: Thank you so much for taking the time to visit with me today Dex. I had hoped Sloan would be joining you, but I understand he’s busy with work and possibly a wedding very soon. Do give him my best and promise you’ll bring him next time.
Dex: Sloane’s preparation for the wedding involves sitting next to me, looking at me for any indication of what I might want, and then nodding, or possibly shaking his head in agreement. You want to send Sloane Brodie running for the hills? Show him a bunch of color swatches and ask him what color he wants for the napkins. The man is amazing under pressure out in the field. He can face off lethal Therians, and bad guys shooting at him. Ask him to pick out a font for wedding invitations and he shuts down. Seriously. This blank stare comes onto his face, and he’s gone. I try to go easy on him so I don’t break him.
Tams: I'd pay good money to see that, just once.

Which one of the THIRDS agents I'd date? Either Cael or Hudson, I think. I know whose wrath I'd face and they're welcome to it! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd date any of the THIRDS men but I think Dex would be my top choice. I would be bound to have a wonderful date with great food as he loves food and is an expert in having a good time.
ReplyDeleteI like all the THIRDS agents with their partners. So I would date Cael but not at the expense of Ash. LOL
ReplyDeletedebby236 at gmail dot com
Dex because you will always have fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the fantastic review and the awesome interview. I sure hope that we readers get to "attend" the bachelor party (although I admit that scares me a bit) and the wedding.
ReplyDeleteFrom the rafflecopter question: I would date Dex because he makes me laugh and is so loyal. However, it would have to a friend date since we are both already taken. ;-)

I'd date Hudson. The glasses, dark hair/blue eye combo and science background all speak to me. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review and interview. I would date Dex. I love being around people who love food and are loyal.

I absolutely loved this addition to the series. If I could date just one THIRDS member I would have to, after much thinking say Hudson, he seems such a gentle man and I'm sure he'd be a great date. Or for a fantastic FUN time Dex of course.
ReplyDeleteI would date DEC or Cael. I love those two!
ReplyDeleteI would love to date Cael, but I am rather sure Ash would have something to say about that...So I will just keep that to myself!
ReplyDeletegreat review
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure.
ReplyDeletemarypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
The thought of breaking them up for a chance to date one is too hard. I would think Dex and Sloane would come as a deal, lol.
ReplyDeletehumhumbum AT yahoo DOT com
I would pick Ethan, he's just so kind and cuddly. I know I would probably be shot by Cal, but, I would have to take my chances, Ethan's just that cute.
ReplyDeleteI would say none as long as I get to watch them all.
ReplyDeleteSloane or Seb, sexy menz. Much as I love Dex I couldn't cope with the constant crazy around him, and Ethan is too shy, so Sloane or Seb, or both...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new release! I wouldn't date them, I rather see them with their other half in a date. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for stopping by. Love all the responses! <3
ReplyDeleteIf I could, I'd date Ash. It'd have to be in an alternate universe though, because I adore Ash adoring Cael. Except when Ash calls Cael "sweetheart". I just can't see any of the big, burly Therians uttering the word "sweetheart" actually. But I do enjoy this series! Thanks for a great blog tour with lots of extras.
ReplyDeleteI answered Dex at one of the other stops, so I'll just say this. These blog posts have gotten me through my day today. Thank you. Just like the books, I know I can always count on a little THIRDS to lift me up. :)
