Scoundrel by nature and master thief by trade, Mouse is the best there is. Sure, his methods may not make him many friends, but he works best alone anyway. And he has never failed a job.
But that could change.
When a stranger with a hefty bag of gold seduces him to take on a task, Mouse knows he'll regret it. The job? Free Lord Garron, the son of a powerful duke arrested on trumped up charges in a rival duchy. Mouse doesn't do rescue missions. He's no altruistic hero, and something about the job reeks. But he cannot turn his back on that much coin - enough to buy a king's pardon for the murder charge hanging over his head.
Getting Garron out of his tower prison is the easy part. Now, they must escape an army of guardsmen, a walled keep and a city on lockdown, and a ruthless mage using her power to track them. Making matters worse, Mouse is distracted by Garron's charm and unyielding integrity. Falling for a client can lead to mistakes. Falling for a nobleman can lead to disaster. But Mouse is unprepared for the dangers behind the plot to make Lord Garron disappear.

Cat gives this one 5 Meows...
"Fun, fast-paced fantasy."
If you could sum up Lord Mouse in three words, what would they be?
Fun, funny, sexy.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lord Mouse?
The prison break was funny. It took a lot of the book but still had many steps to it, and I loved when Mouse dressed as the chamber maid. I also liked when they had to take along the young man that they wound up in his room. He was funny as well. The humor added a lot to the tense storyline.
Which character – as performed by Joel Leslie – was your favorite?
Mouse. Mouse is gritty, funny, smart. I think Joel gave all of the characters so much personality.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Close to the end when a battle erupts and what transpires. I nearly cried ( can't tell you why as its a spoiler)
Any additional comments?
Lord Mouse isn't my usual genre though on occasion I do read some fantasy. I heard so much about this one I thought I would give it a try and am glad I did. It was quite a refreshing change of pace.
When it first came on, I couldn't believe it was Joel Leslie narrating. He sounded so different and still gave all the characters accents and personality. I don't know how he does all this with his voice, but I am impressed. I also want to say that I think if I read it I wouldn't have enjoyed it as well with all the names and village names etc. I usually stumble across those, and it slows the flow of the story. Listening to Joel tell it kept me engrossed and eager to hear more.
If you like stories of knights, noblemen, thieves, magic and a great romance to boot you will love this one.

"Fantastical story with amazing narration!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I definitely would. The writing was unique and clever and the characters were brought to life so well by Joel Leslie, I couldn't ask for more.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mouse! The man is sneaky, sly, conniving and intelligent. He has this arsenal of disguises and voices and who better to bring all this alter egos to life than Joel Leslie who too holds an arsenal of different voices and tones.
Which scene was your favorite?
The underlying mystery revealed.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The whole damn thing really. I was entertained and intrigued from start to finish.
Any additional comments?
This story was so much fun. It reminded me a bit of Prison Break but with gay characters instead up to no good. Definitely worth a listen if you like the Author and/or narrator. Me, I buy books just because Joel Leslie narrates them, and I highly recommend you do that with this one.
Mason Thomas began his writing journey at the age of thirteen when his personal hero, Isaac Asimov, took the time to respond to a letter he wrote him. He’s been writing stories every since. Today, he is ecstatic and grateful that there is a place at the speculative table for stories with strong gay protagonists. Mason, by all accounts, is still a nerdy teenager, although his hairline and waistline indicate otherwise. When his fingers are not pounding furiously at a keyboard, they can usually be found holding a video game controller, plucking away at an electric guitar, or shaking a twenty-sided die during a role playing game. Mason will take any opportunity to play dress up, whether through cosplay, Halloween or a visit to a Renaissance Faire. He pays the bills by daring middle school students to actually like school and encouraging them to make a mess in his science classroom. He lives in Chicago with his endlessly patient husband, who has tolerated his geeky nonsense for eighteen years, and two unruly cats who graciously allow Mason and his husband to share the same space with them.
