Anchor Point book 1
- Narrated by:
- Length: 7 hrs and 17 mins
- Unabridged Audiobook
For Sean Wright, driving a cab in the tiny Navy town of Anchor Point isn't an exciting job...until he picks up just-dumped Paul Richards. A drive turns into a walk on the pier, which turns into the hottest hookup Sean's had in ages.
After a long overdue breakup, Paul can't believe his luck. Of all the drivers, he's picked up by the gorgeous, gay, and very willing Sean. Younger guys aren't usually his thing, but Paul can't resist.
One taste and neither man can get enough...right up until they realize that Paul is Sean's father's commanding officer and the last man Sean should be involved with.
With two careers on the line, their only option is to back off. It's not easy, though; the sex and the emotional connection are exactly what both men have been craving for a long time. But Paul has devoted 24 years to his career and his dream of making admiral. If he's caught with Sean, that's all over. He has to choose - stay the course, or trade it all for the man who drove off with his heart.

"Body like a back road!!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would! I loved everything about it. Storyline, content, characters, writing and narration were all spot on.
Who was your favorite character and why?
That's a hard choice, I liked Sean and Paul both, they were both torn over the sacrifice they'd have to make if they loved each other and it was gut wrenching at times, but also beautiful and endearing.
What does Nick J. Russo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He framed the hearts of these two men and brought them to life.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Both, actually.
Any additional comments?
Such a great book. Witt brings her life experience with the military to each book she writes that is based in a military atmosphere and the reality of it shows in the finished product. Here you have Paul, a man that has spent his life in the navy working toward a star on his shoulder. He never imagined any other kind of life because there'd never been anything, or anyone, that he wanted more than his career. And then he met Sean the young, gorgeous, smart military brat with black and blue hair and he wraps Paul around his finger roughly five minutes after they meet.
What starts out as something fun and casual begins to grow into so much more, until they realize that Paul is Sean's dads CO. See, here is where the story truly gets interesting and gritty. These two men are drawn to each other like magnets. The chemistry between them is insane and intense, like nothing either of them have experienced before. But there is too much on the line to take a chance. Or is there?
The way Witt wrote each man individually as they struggled with their feelings for one another and the careers that could be destroyed if they succumbed to the attraction. It was painful at times to listen as the story alternated between Paul and Sean and examined each man's reasoning and each man slowly withering away each passing day they aren't together. Lord, but when they were together.... wow! Electric, passionate and down right sexy are just a few adjectives that describe their relationship.
I noticed something in this audio I hadn't in other books narrated by Russo. He has the ability to tune his voice perfectly for the younger character (Sean who is in his twenties) and then flip the switch to the older characters (Paul who is in his forties) seemlessly. There was one sentence in the book, Sean speaking to his dad, he tells him "I love him." and I not only heard the pain in those three words, I felt it, that's how good of a job Russo did for this story.
Definitely a must listen! A little bit of something for everyone I think. Military man, stubborn but driven twenty something with quirky hair, role reversal in the bedroom, hard fought happy ever after and some fanfriggintastic make out sessions.
PS, if you're curious about the title of my review, listen to the book then go look up Sam Hunt, Body like a back road on Youtube and I'm certain you'll agree with me.

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer who has finally been released from the purgatorial corn maze of Omaha, Nebraska, and now spends her time on the southwestern coast of Spain. In between wondering how she didn’t lose her mind in Omaha, she explores the country with her husband, several clairvoyant hamsters, and an ever-growing herd of rabid plot bunnies. She also has substantially more time on her hands these days, as she has recruited a small army of mercenaries to search South America for her nemesis, romance author Lauren Gallagher, but don’t tell Lauren. And definitely don’t tell Lori A. Witt or Ann Gallagher. Neither of those twits can keep their mouths shut . . .
