I've been waiting for Hilton and Cathal's story since Why I Love Geeks where we first met them and see them tiptoeing around each other. I have to say this is my favorite of the three books but each is so cute and fun. perfect reads when you need a pick me up and a sweet fluffy romance.
Why I love Bodyguards does have Cathal off the job and going back home to Montana where his father is dying. His father has adopted four of Cathals sisters kids and Cathal's sister is a drug head and prostitute. The story is mostly about Cathal dealing with the death of his father and Hilton h=getting closure with the death of his parents even though that happened when he was like ten. It is mostly romance with little tension.
I loved all the characters especially getting to know Hilton better since I am no fan of the billionaire books but he is not stuffy. I wouldn't say it a Billionaire bodyguard trope as Cathal isn't doing much work in this book as Hilton's bodyguard ' more an office romance, friends to lovers type thing in my opinion. The kids are adorable especially the twins and I loved getting a little bit of Herb in here as he adds a lot of humor to lighten the sadness of the story.
My one issue is that the blurb had a jilted lover showing up and I expected some good tension or a secondary plot but Zinnia wasn't what I expected and I felt that could have been easily left out as it added nothing to the story.
If you are looking for a light, fun, very sweet read, like bodyguards, billionaires, cute kids and a very good romance you will like this.

HILTON BURKE glared down at the files in front of him. Why do I insist on putting all my important business on paper instead of just on the computer? I mean, the eyestrain is the same for both. He knew why and it stemmed from listening to his father complain about how easy it was for computers to be compromised. Father understood how dangerous computers could be, even back when they were first starting out. Sadness twinged in his heart. Rubbing his chest, he frowned. It had been over twenty-six years since his parents died, but he still missed them and thought of them every day.
The memories of the short time they had together as a family was the main reason why he chose to move the headquarters for Burke International to New York instead of staying in London where his father had based it. His board of directors wasn’t happy at first, but he managed to convince them the move was for the best, and the company’s quarter earnings from the beginning showed his instincts were right.
“Mr. Burke, Mr. McKinley is on line one for you,” Rebecca, his personal assistant, informed him.
“Thank God,” he muttered. Anything to distract him from the tedious papers. “Thank you, Rebecca.”
He took a breath, calming his pulse. You’re acting like you have a silly schoolboy crush on McKinley. You’re a bloody adult—start behaving like one. Hilton stabbed the button for line one.
“Yes?”
“I need to talk to you. Do you have time?”
Like he’d ever tell McKinley he didn’t have time for him. “I’m in the office for another two hours, though I’m not sure why you’re asking. Rebecca sends you my schedule for the next day in the evening. You know when I’m in the building,” Hilton pointed out.
“Just because I know you’re in the building doesn’t mean I know if you have meetings or not.” McKinley sounded distracted, which didn’t happen often.
“I approve everything Rebecca sends you, McKinley. I know for a fact that she lists all my meetings and who they are with.” He heard an intake of air and chose to continue before McKinley could say anything. “Yes. You can come up right now if you have the time.”
Someday you’re going to have to stop fighting this attraction. It’s beginning to make you more of an arse then you usually are.
“I’ll be right up.” McKinley hung up without saying goodbye.
After straightening the papers, Hilton organized his desk and then went to stand in the door of his office, staring, as his head of security, Cathal McKinley, stalked toward him. He shoved his lust for the man deep down inside him. No point in giving the bastard an advantage.
“Mr. Burke, we need to talk,” McKinley announced as he got close.
“I figured as much when you called to see if I could fit you into my schedule.” Hilton stepped back to allow him entrance. “For what other reason would you want to see me?”
McKinley snorted but didn’t say anything until Hilton had closed the door and walked over to sit behind his desk. Leaning back in his chair, he steepled his fingers in front of his lips as he studied McKinley.
“Should I have another reason?”
Hilton shook his head, knowing neither one of them would admit the attraction that simmered between them. He needed McKinley to trust him before he gave anything to the man, and he knew McKinley didn’t think he could trust someone with Hilton’s past and power.
Something had happened to McKinley before he came to work for Hilton, but Hilton had never asked what because it wasn’t any of his business. He could admit to himself, if no one else, that he wanted McKinley to tell him himself instead of making him look for it.
Hilton came from money, mostly because his father was a bloody genius and had invented new guidance systems for missiles and shite like that. The military industry had scooped all of those ideas up in a heartbeat, making Ambrose Burke a very wealthy man.
Jacqueline Burke, Hilton’s mother, had been a whiz at finances, so she’d made sure the money Ambrose earned multiplied a hundred times over by the time Hilton made his appearance in the world. Yet having lived with money hadn’t made his life easy. He’d lost both of his parents in an airplane accident—that ultimately hadn’t been an accident, though only Hilton believed that.
He’d never been told the whole story, not even when he reached the age of majority and took over the reins of his fortune. He’d allowed the original report of engine failure to stand instead of saying anything about it being murder. Yet the knowledge that there would always be someone out there looking to take his money, power, or life had driven Hilton to build walls around his emotions.
While he understood why trusting someone didn’t come easily to him, he wondered what had happened to McKinley that the man wouldn’t even acknowledge the fact that he wanted Hilton. Of course, Hilton wasn’t about to put himself out there to be rejected either. A man had to have some pride.
