Dr. Jeff Martin has spent five years as a rural general practitioner on the Isle of Wight, hiding the fact he's gay. He travels in secret to see his partner, Tris, but when he discovers Tris has been cheating on him, he ends their relationship. Then Jeff meets island native Cameron Gillard. Cameron is down to earth and lively and treats Jeff like he's the most important person in his life. Jeff blooms under Cameron's attention, and he decides to come out to his colleagues and friends.
Just when things are going well, Tris reappears out of the blue. Jeff is no longer interested in Tris, but it seems he has two men to convince: Tris, who can't believe Jeff is serious about wanting to end their relationship, and Cameron, who can't hide his jealousy of Tris.
Jeff is certain about one thing: The only man he wants in his life is Cameron. Now he just needs to prove it to him.

"A charming romance"
Island Dr is a sweet romance. I wasn't aware it was from another series but can see that now. The story is good, There are many characters that had such a large part it took away from the main characters. I did enjoy the story.
Adam Rivington did an excellent job narrating. I think he brought the story up a notch. I love the accent, and I like the special effects like when they are talking on a phone or intercom.
Sue writes about love, imperfect and real. Sue is a bi, dog-loving, British gay romance writer, completely addicted to chocolate and coffee, and with a secret desire that she could have been an aristocratic private eye in a former life. She lives on the outskirts of London with her two dogs and two kids. The household is ruled by the youngest member, Faith, whose personality and dominance has grown in proportion to her legs and ears.
Sometimes a sweet romance is just the thing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the review. I've enjoyed some of Sue's others books but never gave any of the audios a listen.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice review, Cat. It does "sound" like a sweet romance (pun intended). - Purple Reader,
