Whispersync for Voice-ready
Jason Klein's living with
the fallout from a decision he knew was the right one at the time. He never
told anyone about the love of his life, which left him to mourn alone when he
found out the man he gave his heart to had been killed in combat. Now, his
heart has had time to heal, but he's not sure he's ready to let himself move
on. Until he meets Cam Morgan....
Without a job lined up following graduation, Cam Morgan took his best friend up on his offer to move to Milwaukee and stay with him until he could get on his feet. The last thing he wanted to do the day after getting to town was go to a party filled with a bunch of jocks. Sure, they were "professional athletes", but Cam was convinced that bigger bank accounts didn't make them any more accepting of people like him. He certainly didn't expect to meet Jason, the Mavericks' catcher who broke every stereotype he'd had.
What started out as one
hot, sweaty night together quickly grows into something deeper. Jason welcomes
Cam into his home and his life, but now he has to teach the younger man that
it's not a sign of weakness to let people help you.

Cat gives this one 3 Meows overall...
Cam has come to stay with his best friend Drew
until he gets on his feet and finds a job since he just got out of Culinary
school. Drew is happy to have Cam with
him for more reasons than just company. But that's Drew's secret.
Jason is gay but not out and really never thought
he would be attracted and want another man. He has a secret as well. But the
moment he sees Cam he can't fight his attraction.
This is a beautiful romance with a few secrets
revealed a little angst and lots of emotion. I really am enjoying this series.
I listened on audio and the narrator just doesn't
do it for me, his voices for the characters are just off. His voice for Cam I
envisioned more for Jason and the one for Jason more Cam and it's basically the
same two voices for all characters. The pacing is like a choppy read. But there
are some actions and emotions that are quite good and I think in time the narrator
may improve.
Sloan Johnson is a
zamboni-driving, hockey-loving parent of two kids who are pretty okay most of
the time. When they were three, their parents received a call from the
principal asking them to pick Sloan up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t
enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, they
were in preschool and started plotting their first story soon after. Later in
life, their parents needed to do something to help the socially awkward,
uncoordinated child come out of their shell and figured there was no better
place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this
is where they found their love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization
when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book? Sloan’s been kicked
out of the PTA in three school districts and is no longer asked to help with
fundraisers because they’ve been known get lost in a good book and forget they
have somewhere to be.
