Release Date: March 4, 2021

Or are we doomed to carry them into every one of our relationships?
Devastated by the death of his wife, middle-aged businessman Marc Gray sells the development company they built together and moves his life to Aspen, Colorado. Leaving the business behind is easy; but the loss of his wife follows him as closely as a shadow.
On his first night in Aspen, Marc meets Susan. A graphic artist working for a NYC advertisement firm, she’s waiting tables to help support herself and her teenage daughter when Marc walks into her restaurant.
There’s something charming about the way Susan lives her life; ever on the edge financially, ever in search of her happy ending. Marc can’t help but find himself irresistibly drawn to her creative magnetism.
But as they dance around the beginnings of a cautious relationship, Marc and Susan struggle with past hurt and loss; as feelings grow between them, so do questions. Questions with difficult answers.
If they face the truth with honesty, could they finally yield to passion?
A poignant novel that explores the life experiences that follow us into new scenarios and leave their indelible mark on our interactions with others.

This is a new to me author with a very unique writing style.
Aspen is the love story of two older, mature adults. Each very different from the other but they fit together very well.
Marcus is a self made billionaire that lost his wife and first and only love to cancer three years prior. His son and best friend has convinced him to sell his large company and move to Aspen in a condo in his new building.
Susan and her daughter moved to Aspen three years prior with her then girlfriend to be dumped and left to fend for herself. She took on a second job and has no time to date since two jobs and her daughter keep her busy.
Marc meets Susan the first night he moves to Aspen at the restaurant she works at and is immediately smitten by her looks and personality.
I really liked both Susan and Marc and Susan’s daughter Jackie as well.
The story doesn’t have a lot of angst and is a refreshing second chance at life and love between two older, mature adults.
It is sweet and clean, with lots of in depth descriptions of both the characters and Aspen.
If you like older characters, a precious teen, beautiful settings, opposite attract, and an all over sweet romance this is for you.

Goodreads Review - “Their story of learning to trust and communicate is both familiar and new, charming in its own unique way.”
