David is a Jewish boy hoping to get into Barnard for his Freshman year of college since he went to school elsewhere before. He wants to be a composer and takes his work seriously and studies hard. His dad is very supportive of him especially being a single father and does everything he can to help make David’s dreams come true. David meets Connor and it’s lust at first sight on David’s side.

Connor is very immature though talented. He has a lot of emotional problems and gets himself in a lot of trouble. He skips class, doesn’t do his work, and party’s a lot. He is the total opposite of David.

I had one issue I would like to get out of the way before I begin my actual review. I know this is New Adult as both guys are 18 and in college. But from the dialogue, the way they tickle, giggle and pranks Connor pulls you’d think he was barely in high school. The story reads more YA to me which is not an issue per say, but I would have liked the genre labeling to include this.

So now to my review. This is one great tear-jerker so if that’s what you are looking for, you found it. Even though through Connor’s mean actions and pranks I never really liked his character, though did love David and wanted to slap him. The story line was sweet, watching the two boys struggle and go through life and their first semester of music school. And there was a real twist I never saw coming at the end when o thought Connor might redeem himself.

Like I said this is a tearjerker, an ugly cry, there is talk and hints of rape, self harm and suicide. So lots of trigger warnings.
