“Oh my wow! This is the first book I’ve read in the High Mountain Trackers series and I absolutely LOVED It! Lucy and Bo are AMAZING!!!!” ☆☆☆☆☆ UnderCoversBookBlog
Manager for Hart’s Horse Rescue, Lucy Lenoir, finally feels she has a handle on life after having worked hard to leave her old one behind. So hard, there are times she almost forgets what she escaped. Memories which suddenly come flooding back when she catches a glimpse of a familiar horseman in town.
What’s worse, he’s in the company of the unlikely cowboy she’s only just beginning to trust.
High Mountain Tracker, Bo Rivera, tries hard never to repeat his mistakes. A huge one changed the course of his life and made him particularly cautious, especially around women. So much so, he almost passed up on the best thing to ever walk into his life; the compact, blonde ballbuster in need of a gentle hand.
However, the more he learns about her, the more he realizes a soft touch alone won’t keep her demons at bay. Those will need a firmer hand…to keep the gun steady.
Cat gives this book 4 Meows with a 2 purr heat index...
This is a book 4 in the series, and though you could read it first, it’s probably best to read them all in order to get the most enjoyment. That said, I read this first and once it got going it was quite good.
This starts out sort of slow with lots of information drop about the rescue Lucy runs and the people that ran before, her neighbors etc. The characters from other books, so this is Bo and Lucy's story. They both have secrets that come back to haunt them especially Lucy.
There were also a few detailed rescues the trackers do that kind of took away from the actual plots.
I found the characters interesting and the main plot of Lucy’s secret very intriguing. There are some twists and the romance is sweet with a very slight touch of heat. If you like intrigue and a mix race romance of course cowboys and cute animals, this is for you.
