Tammy gives this one 3 Stars...

This was an intense, thought provoking and often disconcerting read. What I enjoyed about the story was the concept that absolute power corrupts, absolutely. It doesn't matter what race you are, psychologically, you're not immune to that lure of prestige. It's very damning and almost inexplicably inevitable.

The two main characters were well written and I liked the ways they were equally opposite and alike. That said, the captures and beatings borderlined on too much and pulled me out of the story several times. Also, the world the Author created while captivating and vivid, there were some curveballs thrown in with little explanation and that too made me sit back and scratch my head.

Overall this was an okay read for me. Some plot holes and questions remain, but there is going to be a second book. Now, this book does not really end on a cliffhanger, more open ended, if that makes sense. I'll definitely read the next installment because, as I said, I have some questions.
